Ok, so recently I've noticed that my chrome browser for android on my new OPO seems to think that Wikipedia is installed when it's not. It's never been installed on my OPO, and it's not installed on any of my other android devices (Nexus 7 and SGSII), although the problem appears on those devices too. I'm not sure if it happened before I got the OPO, but it may have and I just didn't notice.
So I click on a link for Wikipedia and instead of opening the app, it just redirects me to the play store to install it. It's very annoying. The same thing appears to happen with IMDB (same situation - no app installed, never has been) ...
Any thoughts on how to fix?
Thanks!
Settings -> Apps -> All (Swipe right) -> Launch by default, clear defaults. See if the problem still happens. If it does, try downloading https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chrome.beta and see if the problems still occurs.

Ok, not seeing the "launch by default" I tried resetting all app preferences (and was asked whether I wanted to use trebuchet or nova launcher when I pushed the home button, suggesting it cleared that preference at least). Still no dice.
Problem also displays on Chrome Beta

I changed my UAString for the built in browser to Desktop but now whenever I open the app it force closes immediately. I tried doing a factory reset hoping that it would reset the browser settings but the browser is still force closing. I even tried the solutions posted in (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7237114) for the Vibrant and no luck there either.
I am new to android so I am hoping that someone here can give me a solution to get the browser working again. Also, my phone is rooted and non-market apps are enabled.
Nobody has any ideas as to how to fix this?
I guess I should have posted it when more people would be online instead of four in the morning.

I had the same problem. Go to settings from the home screen. Then applications. Then manage applications. Then press the menu key and change the filter to show all applications. The browser should show up in the list. Select it and delete all app data. the browser should work now.

No luck, still force closing even after deleting the app data (not sure how though since all settings should be cleared).
Any other ideas by any chance?
Hello,
Yesterday morning I have updated my Android to 2.29, from 2.2 (something) on my HTC Desire. Initially it failed to install due to lack of space (did not have the required 25 MB minimum).
Now, in my list of downloaded applications I see a com.htc.fotafailnotify and everything is 0.00kb. It shows up under Settings-> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Downloaded (tab)
Is this a result of that failure and can I uninstall it without any unpleasant consequences?
- Today, I have uninstalled it and apparently nothing noticeable has happened.
Only strange thing is that after uninstalling it, I cannot select another application from that menu, but I can scroll up/down, leave the menu, everything else. If i come back to it, it's back to normal for the first 3-4 then it happens again.
Can anyone tell me what this is and if I messed up by removing it? No one has replied on the Desire section of the forum, and Google was of no help whatsoever.
Thanks!
I have multiple internet browser applications installed on my xoom yet I cannot select a default. Under settings/applications/manage applications when I click on one of the browsers it says no default is set, so I can't clear the default. Another problem I have that I think is linked is that when i click on a link in an email, it will not bring up a browser, it will just dim out the screen as if I were to select which app to open the link with, but that list never shows up. I'm running the 3.2 tiamat rom and kernel and I am overclocked to 1.4ghz. To fix this problem I have tried to uninstall some of the browsers iI have and then reinstall them one at a time but that still did not allow me to select a default. Has anyone else had this problem, or know how to fix it?
Thanks

I just posted this in another thread.
The problem with dimming and no "open with" window is easily resolved. Make sure that auto-rotate is enabled in settings, and thn, when that problem occurs, just rotate the Xoom--like from landscape to portrait mode. That should do the trick.
thanks

I just had this problem too and I'm both annoyed and relieved that this was the solution. I'm annoyed at myself because I uninstalled the browser I was trying to make default and then tested with clearing the default launcher, then also uninstalled ADW etc.

If you would have read extensively in these forums, you would know that this is a known HC 3.2 issue: when the screen dims and the dialog box fails to pop-up, you just have to rotate your Xoom, like from landscape to portrait mode, and the dialog box will appear, giing you the chance to make a selection. You need to make sure that auto-rotate is enabled in settings.
You can also get an older version of gmail that doesn't have that (multiple accounts) bug. Look in the development section, rom threads for the fix.
Latest 44s installed. No rooted.
I cannot access Applications in Settings anymore. When trying to access Applications, Settings crashes.
Been working great and this is the first time i have problems with OnePlus One. Nova and Trebuchet went crash loop and phone rebooted several times. It all happened when i tried to change icons (Paper icon pack (paid) in Play store). I uninstalled that icon pack that i thought may cause the nova/trebuchet to crash, but now i cannot access Applications in Settings anymore. Have rebooted my phone several times...
Sent from OPO.
Could you provide a logcat?

Have you tried uninstalling the icon pack and rebooting?

Sorry, no... I did a factory reset - I couldn't run all apps either, trying to run some apps caused rebooting...

Yes and it didn't work.
Several of my apps does not show up when I hit the recent apps soft key. Of the apps I frequently use that does not show is Facebook, Messenger and Dolphin Browser..
Anybody else experienceing the same issue?
This is quite annoying... Am I the only one who have this issue?
I couldn't tell you (don't remember) what apps were guilty but I've noticed the same thing with several different apps.

I did a check just now, and actually most of the apps I tried did not show up when touching the recent apps soft key. It's also not consistent which apps does not show ?

The recent apps is literally the apps that you accessed most recently (not most frequently). Depending on your Chrome setting (if you are using the Chrome browser) you may have your tabs out in the recent screen as well.
The list will always change, depending on what you looked at last and in what order
I just went to the three apps you mentioned in sequence, and they show up on my recent apps screen.

I know how the recent apps view is supposed to work, so that's not the problem.. As I mentioned in my last post theres some inconsistency in wich apps does not show, but some of them never seems to show. It also sometimes happen that I'm unable to remove all apps from the list. They show up the next time I hit the recent apps soft key.
I'm on build number:
MMB29K.G930FXXU1APB4
I see, that's odd. Not sure what to make of it. I am build APB5, maybe that matters. Verizon pushed out an update last week for March security and to fix wifi issues, if you are on Verizon give it a shot and see if it helps.

I'm from Norway and my phone is not tied to any operator. I am also on the latest update available in my region. I guess I could try to do a facory reset, and see if it helps. But I don't think I'll bother anytime soon..
Problem solved
It seems like i finally found a solution to my problem
After investing a whole day doing several factory resets and installing of apps and settings in different order each time I tracked the problem down to an app I use, called Sidebar Plus. I installed this app and its settings with the help og Helium and all of a sudden some of my apps refused to show in the recent apps view. I then uninstalled Sidebar Plus, did a reboot, and all of my apps now show up in the recent apps view as they should
I now have installed Side Apps Bar - Edge Sidebar instead, and everything seems fine :good:
