Hey guys few questions, thanks.

First off please don't flame me, I've been on XDA for years an am by far not new to this. I know the procedures and I DID search and try to find these answers but am still a little confused so I would appreciate some help and I'd be very grateful please . I finally talked my buddy into getting an android phone and dropping iOS so he has the sensation and decided he wants to root and install custom Roms so I'm going to do so for him. He's on stock ICS and all the stickie threads for rooting I seen for the most part were last edited or not posted on since before the ICS update. I seen about the tool kit but just want to double check so I don't brick my buddies phone, could someone just link me to the newest method to root and flash recovery for flashing Roms for a phone on stock ICS? Once again my apologies as I know these noobie questions are annoying but my searching didn't help me . Thanks all!

The reason I'm posting is because its so complicated on HTC phones, Samsung is easy lol but I read the thread about how to do things but there's a million different things it talks about. It talks about s off and adb and all that, there doesn't seem to be a good guide in everything to do just to root and be able to flash custom Roms from straight stock from step one. Help please friend may be willing to donate after all said and done.

...how about now?

i9500 vs i9505

So I'm thinking of getting this phone in the future but I can't decide between the i9500 model and i9505.
Now, I'm not asking hardware-wise, I know the difference between the Octa and Snapdragon. I'm asking in terms of community support. Which one of these models get more developer support and faster/more stable/better ROMs and Kernels and.....stuffs?
I9505
And easier for development

A quick look at the dev forums for the two devices would give you the answer you need

I have already successfully rooted and flashed recoveries, radios and ROMs on 4 different Android phones before. You can't really tell how much a model is supported by just looking at the appropriate sub-forums, since even for 2 year old device as Desire there's still replies on threads, but not from devs but confused new users. Or there are very low-quality re-pack ROM devs.

No unlocked bootloader. So no roms for this phone unless someone can find a work around. The s7 edge had 2 roms that used Flash fire but root was buggy.
jrkruse has made this.

Thanks for your response rippedwarrior69, Before posting my question I had read about (and I'm running it ATM) "jrkruse,s" post over in there Verizon forum about there rom, quoted below
I don't know much at all about making a Rom but Since i posted this question I've been reading how to DeOdex and am slowly learning, but i am total noob and don't have the confidence in my self, it would take to post my work for others yo know.
jrkruse said:
These UFirm Carrier Roms are so big I chose to use the flash system.img.ext4 first method in Flashfire followed by a partial rom zip so I could get all the multicarrier stuff to fit. This way also insures that all symlinks and permissions are correct.

I would love to see custom roms for at&t note 8. Aosp would be cool or a super customizable stock Rom. Android 8.0 or 8.1 would be cool to.

We can't create sources codes because on our phones sources are already compiled to rom and we can't decompile it to create custom rom. Now only HTC have access to source code so we wait. I can't even write to htc because contact form on htc dev site not working.

what about desire 728 ultra?
I really wanna flash twrp but it's not working. Can you help?
If you want TWRP you can find it here with guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74915496&postcount=102
Is it still the case?
Do you know if things have changed by know?
Unfortunately, we still don't have sources code so We can't create custom Rom :/
Is it true that it can't work with the processor? I have heard that Mediatek locks its drivers. There are no security updates from HTC. I'm still at 2016.
any news on that?

hello guys
I'll try to port LineageOS 14.1 to the A9s. Should be easy but I couldn't fix RIL (SIM-Card) yet on any MediaTek Device.
Edit: I'll send screenshots after I've got LineageOS booted. Stay Tuned.
Edit: Doesn't boot
