[Q] Confused about bands in the DR - will this work on 3G or only EDGE on Claro ? - General Questions and Answers

Will this phone work with 3G speeds or only EDGE? Amazon Link.
From what I can gather, Claro frequencies are as follows:
CDMA 1xEV-DO in 800/1900 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE in 850/1900 MHz
UMTS/HSDPA service in the 850 MHz band
This phone shows:
Network Frequency
- 2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900Mhz
- 3G: WCDMA 850/2100Mhz
It doesn't show anything for UMTS, which a friend is insisting is needed for anything better than EDGE speeds.
Is this true? I am buying as a gift and the current phone the guy is using is capable of 3G speeds there. I wouldn't want to give him something slower, as he uses Whatsapp and stuff like that a lot.
Thanks for any help, I searched for about an hour before I gave up and decided to ask.

[Q] Data usage/frequency (3G)

I got Nexus S on ATT and I have tried it with a TMobile SIM (got surprised because phone isn't locked...) but it works on 2G only.
I'm wondering if it will work properly (as 3G) in Europe. Does it cover 900 and 2100?
What is ATT's data frequency? Is it 2100?
thanks !
I'm gonna reply to my own topic: according with Wiki ATT uses 850 MHz and 1900 MHz for UMTS (3G) that means ATT (unlocked) phone will work as 2G in Europe (2100 MHz)
On the other hand, T-Mobile's frequencies are 1700 MHz (uplink) and 2100 MHz (downlink).
Does it mean a T-Mobile phone will be able to work properly on Europe's 3G networks (2100 MHz?

[Q] Samsung Galaxy s2 hd lte (SHV E120S) 3g does not work!!!!!!!!

Hello guys!
I just brought my Galaxy s2 hd lte which is known as SHV-E120s similar to att galxy s2 skyrocket in ATT.
It is unlock .
when i put my simcard, i always get G which is GPRS. This is so slow and it makes me crazy.
Thus, i look over google and find what my support 3g band which was.
2G Network: GSM 850/ 900 /1800/ 1900
3G Network: HSDPA 850/ 900/ 1900 /2100
HSDPA 900/ 2100
4G Network: LTE 800/ 1800 /2600
Also I look over T-mobile 3G frequency over google and found that
850MHz: GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSPA : 2G/3G
1900 MHz: GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 2G
1700/2100 MHz: UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+: 3G/4G
1900 MHz: UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+: 3g/4G
1700 / 2100 Mhz: LTE
Acoording to this chart. i know that i cannot use LTE.
However, i believe, it will support 3G which i have HSDPA 1900 and 2100 Mhz.
Based on m assumption, because of t mobile use weird signal AWS? thats why my phone does not work 3g?
i really want to solution for it. THE GSRM IS SO SLOW THAT I CANNOT EVEN POSE THINGS ON MY FACEBOOK.....
thank you.

UP !!!
Have exactly the same problem .... any solution to this ????
No it is not similar you're in the wrong subsection. Rocket HD is different. Also make sure your phone is unlocked and u need a different radio compatible with the T-Mobile frequencies

uk network frequencies

hi i'm uk based and on o2 network.
i read o2 uses bandwith
900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE
1,800 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE
900 MHz UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+
2,100 MHz UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+
phone i have just now most of time i see "H" sign and internet speed is fine.
new phone i look to buy is from china (jiayu g3 or g4) and works on
g3:
Network Band: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz & WCDMA 850/2100MHz
Data Technology: GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, HSPA+, 3G
g4:
Band 2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 2100MHz
will it be on "H" here in the uk if i use o2 network?
i dont want to buy this phone and then is slow speeds 2g and 3g

Chinese phones on T-Mobile?

Hi guys,
I'm hoping someone can give me a for sure answer on this. I have a company we met at CES offering me some chinese cell phones. Basically they are an S4 knock off. I have definitely decided against selling these, but since I have a really old phone... I'm thinking about buying one for myself to play with.
I am currently on the t-Mobile network. Here is what their website says about "bands"
T-Mobile's UMTS network operates in Band IV, which uses 1700 MHz and 2100 MHz frequencies. Specifically, T-Mobile uses the 1700 MHz frequency to send information to cell sites and then uses the 2100 MHz frequency to receive information. A device must be able to use both frequencies to use T-Mobile's domestic UMTS network.
Most international UMTS networks operate in Band I, which uses the 2100 MHz frequency.

and here is the information about the phone:
MS mode: WCDMA/GSM
Frquency band: WCDMA 2100/850 (HSDPA) and GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Wireless transmission: 3G, WIFI 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.0, EDGE, HSDPA, HSUPA,

Everything sounds like it should work, but the concern is the 850/2100 on WCDMA. T-Mobile claims it uses 1700/2100.
For comparison, here is the t-Mobile Nexus 4
GSM:850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
UMTS: 850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz
Data:HSDPA+ (4G) 42.2 Mbit/s, HSUPA 5.76 Mbit/s, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS

I do understand that the chinese phone is only 3G, and the Nexus I compare to is 4G.
According to what I just read on another tmousa page (which agrees with your quote) their data (3g, 4g, and lte) all work on 1700/2100 as of this date of posting.
From your quote about your phone, it operates on gsm 1800/1900. That does not match with tmo.
I know you probably already figured this out, but I am searching on same subject, so others will follow.
Blessings!

[Completed] Some help with bands please

I got a V19 phone from china with Android 5.0. I believe it is a rooted phone, I've seen some of those features. It came in a box that says Android. I have no idea of the manufacturer.
Problem: I cant get the data connection (tmobile, wifi works fine) to get better than the edge network, 2G. I've learned that T-Mobile requires these bands:
LTE Frequencies:
1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4
1900 MHz PCS band 2 (in refarmed areas)
Lower 700 MHz band 12 (in development) / in service in selected areas
3G/4G Frequencies (WCDMA):
1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4
1900 MHz PCS band 2 (in refarmed areas)
2G Frequencies (GSM/GPRS/EDGE):
1900 MHz PCS band 2
Inside the battery area the phone lists :
GSM 850/900/1800/1900mhz
WCDMA 850/2100mhz (HA)
When I got to engineering mode, I can see other bands that are greyed out.
So my question is this. Is it possible to slick this phone and install software, etc, that allows the bands I need? Or are 'Bands" hard coded into the hardware of the phone? Easier to just buy another phone with correct bands? Advice or links?
Thanks,
Gary B.
