Hi forum,
My Knock Code seems to not be working at all. Here's what happened, retold to the best of my ability.
1. Knock Code was working about two days ago, even after I got my AT&T G2 and rooted it.
2. I installed BusyBox and installed it into my system, then made a complete backup using TWRP.
3. I rebooted and Knock Code no longer worked while the screen was off.
What IS strange though is that my Knock On function is still working, but problem seems to be that my screen only senses two taps maximum to wake up the screen. For example, with a 4-tap Knock Code set up and the screen off, the screen will turn on after two taps and take me to the Screen ON knock code prompt, and not unlock even though I tapped the full Code.
I've already tried accessing the hidden menu with 3845#*800# and then doing the hardware test and updating the touch firmware after the test, AND I've also done the touch update through the "settings" option in the hidden menu AS WELL AS done a sensor recalibration and a toggle of the knock on feature in the gestures subcategory of the phone settings.
Can anyone please help?

Autorec downgrades the kernel to install TWRP, losing knock code. As far as I know, you can use it again by installing the dorimanx kernel.
Sent from my LG-D800
Thank you very much!

just like zamgwd autorec downgrades kernel and because of this you lose knock on/code ability; and installing a custom kernel with knock code support will get you knock on/code working again; there are many of them that will give you this option out of them a good option for someone who wants to keep the stock experience is to use cloudy kernel which is completely stock based; other than that check out the many kernels available which have great features/battery life/performance/etc

Hi,
I'm using a Galaxy S running a froyo custom ROM.
I was wondering whether there is a way to disable the "auto lock" feature of the phone?
The display can still shutdown based on the selected screen time-out time, however, the phone should stay without getting auto locked, unless its explicitly locked.
Ideally, it should be like in the Nokia 5800, where the screen switches off after the given number of seconds, however the phone stays unlocked (unless its locked using the hardware button) and the display comes on when the screen is tapped/touched.....
Is there any way something similar could be done with Android?
Thanks in advance,
Look for an app in the market called No Lock. One click on the app toggles the auto-lock on/off and it's auto-loaded every time the phone boots up. Couldn't be easier simpler.
Thanks for the reply.
Actually, I'm using "no lock" at the moment.... What I'm ideally looking for is a way to bring the screen alive just by tapping on the screen. Even eith "no lock" still you need to press one of the hardware buttons to awaken the screen....
Maybe this is not possible in Android ?
I don't think it is...
But even if it was possible, why would you want it? It'd get triggered so often any time you brushed up against it, wasting battery and launching apps while in your pocket or something.
try Extended control
I also need an app or a tweak or something that let me set the screen timeout, withOUT autolocking, but also withOUT disabling the lockscreen, so when I press the side buttons the phone locks.
I've been searching for days with no luck. Any help, please?
Whenever I set a lockscreen on my g3, knock for example, it works ONCE then reverts back so slide. (I also had lock when power is hit on) This a major problem so I'd like to get some help on this.

do you use a custom launcher?
Anyway i was playing around with it and got the result as you...the Knock code was working as it would turn on the phone, but if i pushed the power button it would default to slide. only thing i did was check the settings and apparently the "power button locks" did not stick so I unticked and cleared lock screen. then did it again and it stuck. works like it should now...
however this made the phone make lock noises.... must fix that now lol
Nope im on stock everything and it does the same thing for every type of lock. I'm hoping its just a bug that I can fix in the next OTA.
I unlocked my phone normally several times today using my pattern. Five minutes after I had unlocked it, I picked it back up and drew my pattern and it said it was incorrect. I tried several more times with no change. I was able to unlock the phone using my fingerprint, but I have no idea how my pattern changed without my permission. If my phone dies or restarts for any reason, I will need the pattern to unlock it, as you can't use fingerprint on start up. (I've had the same unlock pattern since my last phone, so I'm sure I am putting it in correctly.)
Has anyone else encountered this bug? Is there any way to create a new pattern using my fingerprint? Finally, how should I go about reporting this to Samsung?
Thanks.
Yes!
Same thing happened to me... S7 working great for first few days when suddenly it didn't accept my unlock pattern. I've been using the same pattern for awhile and unlocked the phone a few times that morning. After a few reboots it finally accepted my pattern again. Immediately disabled it and now using pin instead.

Did you just restart again and again until it worked? If it worked for you I might try it instead of the factory reset.
I've had lock screen issues with my LG V10, but not quite like yours. I use a pattern, not a password or fingerprint. Sometimes the screen is locked and I fail the pattern and the phone gets unlocked anyway. Usually, this is associated with having first touched a notification with the screen locked. What happens after the pattern fails (trace shows in red), is that the screen appears as it does when it's not locked and I just swipe and I'm in the application whose notification I touched. The LG V10 has a fingerprint reader on the power button, but I haven't programmed it since I heard it's not that great. This is a major security issue in my opinion, and I haven't read any other posts anywhere about it. So I don't know if it's specific to LG, the V10 or Marshmallow (it started with Marshmallow).
I can start a new thread if you believe our lock screen problems are unrelated (enough). Just let me know.
Bruce
Same thing happened to me. I'm THE ONLY one to ever use my phone and I went to open it and it was saying my pattern was invalid. I was able to use the thumb print pattern still though. However when I went to change the pattern in my settings I entered what used to be my pattern and it locked me out of my phone for an hour. I don't know how to change it.

Saw you had the same issue, so wanted to let you know. I restarted the phone and the old pattern started working again. Another person with this issue said that they had to restart several times, but it did work. So I'd give that a try, worked for me. Good luck!
It just happed to me. I restarted it and it accepted my pattern. I now have it set with pin instead.
Had the same issue as well! Samsung Galaxy S7, suddenly stopped recognizing my screen unlock pattern. Same solution as well; Restarted my phone and the problem went away.
Is there a way to disable the pattern feature if you are able to navigate the phone? Got locked out of Marshmallow on my MOTO G 3rd gen. phone after a pattern change; I was surprisingly able to just reboot into an unlocked phone. I've turned on adb debug access while I still have the opportunity.
I just had that issue. I was able to unlock with the pin, and reset the pattern and it now works again but it was freaky.
Same happened here. This morning the lock pattern on my S7 edge is forgotten by the phone.. Reboot doesn't help.
have the same problem today. i didn't change my pattern and it happened again. before i was using a PIN and I ended up factory reset and by this time I wouldn't want to do the reset factory settings as the last option.
The pin was also randomly stop working, I have mine set to pin and it did the same thing.
Me too!!!! Wtf!!
Mine has locked as well and I swipe the wrong pattern until it gives me the option to put in the back up pin but when I go to correct the swipe it wont let me in. I have tried everything all of you have suggested except the factory reset, I just can't believe that Samsung hasn't put out a fix for this yet.
Here is how you fix it
Method 1. Use 'Find My Mobile' feature on Samsung Phone
All Samsung devices come with "Find My Mobile" feature. In order to bypass Samsung lock screen pattern, PIN, password and fingerprint, you can just follow the below steps to get it done.
• First of all, set up your Samsung account and log in.
• Click "Lock My Screen" button.
• Enter new PIN in the first field
• Click "Lock" button at the bottom
• Within few minutes, it will change lock screen password to the PIN so that you can unlock your device.
tell me it work ??
Just an update to help out someone who might be going through this. This recently happened to me on my s6 edge.
Like the above comment suggests, go to "Find My Mobile". Once signed in, select the "UNLOCK MY DEVICE" option , (selecting the "Lock My Screen" option does not allow you to change the lock screen type afterwards).
Selecting Unlock my device will immediately unlock the phone and erase any lock screen patterns, fingerprints or pins that you might not remember, thus allowing you to set them up again!
Hope this helps!!

Also, one more thing. Doing the above ^ seemed to have solved a problem I was having with "Smart Lock" not working. So just as an FYI, going through that process might help you with that.
This just happend to my gf's s4 also she sent a text and then went to reply again a few moments later and her pin was invalid and it locked her out of her phone for 30 seconds, she just had to restart it once and it worked with the old pin again.

same issues here, pattern just stopped working. im positive im using the correct pattern.
i can login with my pin, but i cant reset the pattern as it keeps asking for the current pattern.
how can i reset the pattern or change to pin / fingerprint?
ive restartted 2x and trying a 3rd now....
> Use 'Find My Mobile' feature on Samsung Phone
No this didn't work. It still requires my pattern, and tells me I'm doing it wrong...
It DID let me into the phone, which was nice. But the pattern problem persists...
...Update: I restarted the phone, and it came up and accepted my pattern.
This just happened to me on my phone and my tablet. I wound up having to do a factory reset on both! Way to go Samsung. These are the last Samsung devices I'll ever buy.
I have this problem that, whenever I press the power button to turn on the screen, I have to swipe twice in order to unlock the phone. I turned on "Show Touches" in the dev menu and it shows that my XA thinks that there is a touch already on the lockscreen so I have to touch it once to get it to realize that it isn't bring touched so I can then unlock the screen with a second touch.
I've also encountered an issue when swiping down from the top to get the notification menu to pull down but it freaks out and jumps around until the third swipe to get it to come down.
Anybody else have this problem or even just a workaround?
I'm on 33.2.A.3.81. and I'm unable to update.
Battery is also crap without Stamina Mode on too.

Do you use glass protector?
You can you test the touchscreen w/o the glass protector.
settings > about phone > diagnostics > test > test the touch screen
With the battery Unfortunately it is true that the battery is not a super long lasting device, but with moderate use of the device(not stressing it) the battery last me through out the day.

I don't use any protectors at all.
And, for some reason, there isn't a "diagnostics" under "about phone" in the settings.
The battery drain is weird because it can drain really quickly (with verrrrrry little use, literally just turning it on every hour to check the time).
If you want to test your touchscreen, you can open diagnostics by press *#*#7378423#*#* in phone app.
Hope this help! but I never faced this problem before, better check with Sony service.

For some reason, it checks out fine. It just acts weird like in the op only at the lock screen.

Does root still work with the latest update?
And trying to update via Flashtool doesn't work, don't know why.

You can use Flashtool to update your device after root and use the included Xperifirm to download the firmware.

No solution just yet for me even updated to Nougat 7.0 update through flashtool. I think I'll just break down and send it in to Sony soon but I'm exploring other options before I do that.

This is called Ghost Touch. I read you don't use any kind of protectors so it is a hardware problem and you can't fix it with software repair. If you have warranty use it, if not you will need to open it and remove connectors and put them back. Most of time that will solve problem, but my advice is to send it to service (there is electricity problems from you and all other things that you can screw up if you are not careful). You can try to google for more informations, but mostly you will end up with what I wrote you.
Edit: Because you have that problem, phone thinks you are using your screen whole time and it never goes to sleep could be a problem for a battery drain.
I have an HTC U11, upgrading from the HTC ONE M9.
On the M9 I used a utility app called "Screen Off & Lock" which worked really well, since I wanted it to lock.
But on the U11, if you lock it, you can't turn it back on with just the finger print scanner. You have to also use your passcode to unlock.
I need an application that functions exactly like the sleep time expiring, so that the screen shuts off and is unlockable with the scanner and not the pin.
I've tried... a TON of different applications, many that claim to do this. None of them do this. They all lock the screen and the finger print scanner won't work until it's unlocked.
Anyone?
In essence, I need something that simulates the power button, which does NOT lock the screen. It just puts it to sleep.
Again, no luck with the dozen or so apps I've tried.

Still hoping for a solution.
Yes very annoying, I get the power button confused with my Vol - button all the time.
I bought Gravity Screen some time ago and it at least has an option for SmartLock and fingerprint readers. I'm testing it now. It works, but it isn't ideal as there are some bugs with the screen not waking fully or too long of a delay after the fingerprint is read correctly.
I'm not sure I'll keep it up and running, but it may be an option for you.

I might totally be misreading this, sorry if I am. But check in settings/security or lock screen and go to secure lock screen of you have that and see if those options fix it.
Going to hopefully bump this up, as this is still an issue.
As clearly as possible:
- On the HTC U11, if you hit the power button, you can unlock the phone with your fingerprint OR using your PIN.
- All of the screen-off utilities lock the phone and then require the PIN to unlock and will not respond to fingerprint.
- I do not want to disable or alter the security settings of the phone, since this is, obviously, already something the phone can do without changes.
Has anyone created a utility that works for the U11 yet?
For me, I'm using Nova Launcher with double tap to sleep. The remaining problem is that Nova launcher just turn the screen into black and navigation buttons is still functioning for the next 5 seconds. I have to wait for 5 seconds so that I can put it into my pocket. Otherwise, the screen can be accidentally turned on.
