(Q) please help a retired customizer out - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I have been basically flashing KitKat ROMs this whole year and due to life events have gotten fuzzy on the ins and outs of flashing OTA's. So here's my question/favor...
Can someone please tell me what I need to do to install superlite ROM? I THINK I have an unlocked bootloader because I am on ML1 firmware. I just keep seeing warning signs saying if I'm unlocked then do not install the NE1 based ROMs... I truly just want to get back to touchwiz and am thinking I will brick my phone if I even try ...
I figure this has been answered, but I'm so confused that I am asking for simple step by step instructions to go from SlimKat 7.0 stable on my Verizon S3 to the SuperLite rom

You would need to be in the stock, VRUDNE1 4.4.2 OTA before you could run any VRUDNE1 based rom. The firmware on the VRUDNE1 update actively prevents it from booting on mismatching or older firmware. So you'll need to 1) Odin VRUCML1 4.3 and OTA to VRUDNE1 or Odin VRUDNE1 2) use Towel root to get root access 3) use unofficial Safestrap tool 4) flash Super lite using unofficial Safestrap.
Once on VRUCML1 stock OTA or higher, there is no bootloader unlock. There is no more using AOSP. There is no flashing custom kernels.

Going back to Stock

Hi all,
I am trying to revert my S3 currently on 4.1.2 with baseband I535VRBLK3 back to locked/unrooted stock. The guides I am finding either have broken links or are outdated. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!
i should mention: the stock roms that I have found so far have failed when I try using odin to flash them

Yes, all three files will format the phone's internal storage and return you to fresh, out of the box factory setup. It will be as if the phone is being activated for the first time.
This may be dumb question, but if I have VRUCNC1 now, could I flash VRBMF1 to allow me to root the phone? My final goal is to be able to use Clock Work Recovery and custom ROM.
Thanks

No you cannot flash back to VRBMF1 and root. You can ODIN flash back to VRUCML1 and root, but you will still not be able to use clock work recovery. Saferoot and safestrap recovery will be your only options.

[Q] anybody ever figure out the "System Software not authorized" problem?

I have the SCH-I535 and I took the OTA and I'm running 4.3 with a locked bootloader. I've downloaded safestrap and have successfully got a recovery and even flashed the Alliance Rom and used it for over a month. I decided to switch over and try the M.O.A.R rom and everything seemed to go smoothly. I flashed the appropriate modem that the download instructions told me to use and then flashed the rom, all after doing a clean wipe first of course. But after I rebooted I now have the dreaded System software not authorized message. Has anybody figured out how to fix this without going back to stock unrooted?
Which modem did you flash? Because there's a two fold problem that you're likely facing:
a) you flashed the Sprint modem that is mentioned in the MOAR OP, cuz the rom is a port from Sprint. If you did this, you may have semi-hard bricked your S3.
b) you flashed the Verizon modem, which you aren't supposed to do with a locked bootloader.
Being on the 4.3 OTA, literally the only things you should be concerned with flashing are TouchWiz roms and also kernel modules which enable WiFi.
You're going to need Odin flash VRUCML1 if you cannot access the rom or Safestrap.

Is there a stock verizon 4.4.2 rom for unlocked bootloaders?

Want to update a family members phone to 4.4.2. Has Verizon S3 with 4.3, baseband i535vrlf2, currently running cleanrom 8 core edition. Looking for a 4.4.2 stock based rom that will work with the unlocked bootloader, everything I can find requires it to be locked.

Doesn't exist because it will not boot without matching firmware and kernel. We're "limited" to custom 4.3 and older Touchwiz roms and AOSP.

Thanks. One question, If you upgrade and relock the bootloader, your only losing the option to install custom kernels unless you use a safestrap rom correct? Should still be able to root the phone with towel root or install a prerooted rom?

You lose access to everything in my previous post. Once upgraded to VRUDNE1 OTA, you cannot downgrade for any reason if you dislike how the phone performs. There is no downgrading to older roms or OTAs, you can only Safestrap flash another VRUDNE1 rom that's it. Doing anything else will brick the phone.
Yes, Towelroot will still root the phone regardless of the software OTA on our phone.

Flashfire (lolliopop)

For folks stuck in 4.3 using safestrap could they use flashfire to flash a lollipop ROM since it doesn't user recovery or bootloader?

If your on the OTA to 4.3 no it will not work. I wouldn't even attempt to try it
It's similar to mobile odin. It looks like it works but I wouldn't try it without an unlocked bootloader. Unless of course you want to brick your device
