UMA/ GAN on the OPO - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, does anyone have any experience with "wifi calling" on their OPO? Not VOIP but rather Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) aka Generic Access Network (GAN). I have really bad reception at work and I saw this online so I want to try it out but I don't know if 1) my carrier has it or 2) it works on the OPO. There is sketchy information on this protocol on the net at best. Anybody heard of it and used it? Is it supported on the OPO/ CM11? I know it's a lot of questions...

A mod moved my post to this section but it ended up buried on the third page. I'm re-asking here. Anyone with any experience with this?

Hi, @don quixada! No, the OPO doesn't natively support T-Mobile UMA (which you already know by now). This would be an absolutely awesome enhancement to CM11S, though!
Please, can one of the CM developers out there pick this up?

A few things about the Kaiser...

Hi,
I've got a little problem with the ROMS on xda for my Kaiser. I tried 7 different Roms by now and I can't find a solution for the 3G problem. Also the camera had the ability to film in AVI mode.
My original Rom was the Rom from T-Mobile. There where I had the 3G connection and the AVI ability.
Is there something I oversee or is there no solution?!
Thanks...
P.S. For the people how recognizing my name; Yes the old one was Noxious Inc. but somehow it don't have permissions to do anything on the forum... (admins didn't reply on messages...)

All 7 are not capable of getting a connection to 3G... Where I live, is a fully 3G support.
Weird thing is also that the speed on G simalar is to 3G... even youtube is possible to watch...
The camera issue is not a main issue... it only had my attention, because it was so shocky and stuff...

How are you determining your connection type? If you're getting 3G speeds, then it's likely you are in fact connected via 3G but simply getting a wrong status indicator.

I didn't do a speedtest, it's only a feeling about the speed... when I try to reach nu.nl a dutch news site, then it's as I know and see the same speed... On HSDPA it's 3 times faster...
I have used both L26 V9 and Dutty's Diamond V1 and I can confirm that Edge, 3G and HSDPA all work without problems.
The camera is recording video in 3gp or mp4 formats.
Make sure you use the SPL and Radio recommended by the chef, hard reset after ROM install, and maybe also check your 3G subscription.
Regards.

hard reset is done at first bootup when u reach the green wm screen... don't think that is going to help with ur issues though.
Nope, didn't work...
It must be possible to get the darn thing to 3G...

Did you go into kaisertweaks and enable HSDPA? It's disabled by default on every rom i've used so far?

Yep, it's enabled...
There is something other different... when I go to my Phone setting and use the "network settings" it says T-Mobile and T-Mobile (GSM) when I choose T-Mobile instead of T-Mobile (GSM) nothing changes...
If you go to start/settings/phone/band, what does it say?
If both say auto and you have 3g where you live then you should have 3g.

[Q] Internet boosting [Youtube]

Hi.Im using SGSII[i9100] and I was wondering if there is any possibility to boost up my 3g internet on the phone, because my fast internet is limited to 150mb's [Its little,I know, but thats all I got] and when they are over my internet connections drops down to 128kbps. I dont have problems with all the videos on youtube [ by that I mean that when I click at them they load up slowly but the video never stops ] but I have with some.I probably need a few kbps extra speed to make this problem go away. So, do you have any ideas?
And since I'm new to all that stuff, just answer me, dont curse me.Thank you.All help appreciated.

Well I did read that it is possible for some phones [ htc ones ] or maybe I misunderstood the information. A guy adviced me to try different modems of the rom I'm using, but I dont think that this would help.
And if anyone thinks that it would help, can I please have a list with the modems that can speed up your internet? Thank you.

Sound like your being throttled by your network provider, I don't think there's any modem or app that can bypass this, you could try turning off high quality setting in the youtube app if you haven't done so already.

[Q] Hiding WiFi HotSpot on Nexus 5

Hey there,
First, let me say thank you for everyone that has helped me in the past, this is a great community full of very knowledgeable people.
Does anyone know of a way (or an app) that will hide my WiFi connection so no one can see it? I use it at work, and we aren't supposed to hook up to our own internet, we are supposed to use the public WiFi (no way in hell I'm doing that) with my tablet.
I searched a bit but can't seem to find anything as such.
Thank you

The only thing I can seem to find is apps that will allow you to search for hidden WiFi networks... :/

Nah, just hide it from anyone at work that scans and looks for WiFi to connect to... I of course have it locked so they cannot connect, but I don't want them to see it show up in their available list at all.

I don't know of a hack or app that would disable the broadcast of your hotspot's SSID. I think, however, that some carriers offer software that facilitates creating the hotspot and which can hide it.

As a workaround you can bluetooth tether. It's not as fast but still works well.

I researched this extensively (for the same reasons) and found nothing....sort of. Essentially, if you're going to connect to a hidden SSID, the machine (laptop for me, tablet for you) that wants to connect has to be looking for SSID constantly, which isn't secure. That and I literally found no way of hiding my SSID.
So I thought about it...and I remembered there was an old wireless network on my campus that most people used, but the company changed proxies/routers/everything, so the SSID was 'retired.' My wifi hotspot SSID went from "suck it" to "My-Workplace-b" since that's the naming convention that was used.
This is nice since it's not nearly as suspicious, but more importantly....most everyone around me had certain proxies and protocols set up so that they could connect to that "xx-b" SSID. Those assorted proxy settings now prohibit them from connecting to my phone wifi
tl:dr: I was disappointed I couldn't hide my SSID, learned I didn't want to hide my SSID for security reasons, but then got creative and feel good about the situation.
Hope this helps somehow. Anybody that knows how to right-click will be able to see your nexus isn't a company router, but hopefully they're not that ambitious.
edit: PS: I USB tether extensively. Way less power consuming than wifi tethering (and stealthier). Maybe can't do that with your tablet...but a thought.
A WLAN will always be visible if you create one, all you can do it obscure the SSID by typing spaces and saving. However, then you'll need to go into advanced settings of the client device and enable connections without SSID's. In Windows 7 it's under "wlanSSID' Properties->Connections Tab->Connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID).

[HELP] Huawei Enjoy Max aka Y Max aka ARS-L22 call issue

Hello everyone,
i have that phone bought from China and got with me to Italy. Very good and big as i like.
It looks like Honor 8x MAX but i did not find anything useful in that discussions.
The only (big) problem is: while i am in a call with anyone, especially inside a building, room, apartment ("indoor", it makes sense) most of the time the other person can't hear me. Instead, I can hear them perfectly.
I try different network band like gsm, wcdma, lte but nothing change.
I try different network sim card like Ho.mobile, Iliad, Wind but nothing change.
I try to contact huawei support but they can't help me.
I search on internet different time to find a solution; one time i saw a people has same problem without any solution.
Maybe the problem is the last upgrade firmware/emui (8.1/8.2 or viceversa).
Maybe the problem is the no-compatibility network band: i understood china hardware smartphone are slightly different than european standards but i retrieve my first chinaphone called Hero 9300+ (from 2013) with 3G band and it works perfectly.
Or, simply, it's the smartphone.
At the end, no one can help me.
Any suggestion is appreciated.
I will reply to anyone who can give me some tips.
I can pay if someone can give me the solution of the issue.
Thanks in advance to everyone.
Sorry for bad english.
Paolo
i have same problem , no solution yet
Thank you for your message.
At the end i sent back the phone and bought a different one: seller was kind to me

Good afternoon
Truly missing exists on the ARS-L22 660 qualcomm
I noticed that she was on all the phones from China that were rebranded.
I managed to defeat the problem. Now the microphone is working properly, and the network is no problem. The network began to work better before I started to take on something
