Hey,
I have a problem with my N5 (310K - problems of the first stocks ), in some places the GPS signal is lost or become very poor. I've already tried this guidewith no success, it probably solves the problem to people with no GPS lock at all - I unlike them have lock usually.
(by the way during the try to fix using this guide my NFC ceased to work)
What I need is an advice what can I do to fix my GPS?
I've been thinking about buying new battery cover - will this help?
*note that I'm running on stock [rooted] + xposed [gravity box and few more modules].

battery cover won't solve any issues
my advice is switch to clean stock ROM and then root if you want.

ok now I'm running on stock (on ART mode - might it be the cause?)
the good news: NFC is properly working again
bad news: I still experience GPS issues.
any ideas? I have been thinking on give the antenna some "strengthen" but its the last solution.

ART doesn't causes problem
but as you had mentioned above You have xposed module
it doesn't support it.
BTW does your location have good GPS signals??
And keep in mind GPS is not always 100% lock
75% ratio is normal.
Press thanks if I helped you.
^^
as I mentioned I'm running on stock + ART mode and still suffer from GPS issues, I have my brother's nexus 5 so I'm able to compare between the two (mine with the problem and his device)
any ideas?

This problem has been happening with any ROM I have, it has only started to happen recently, my Wi-Fi used to work flawlessley untill I changed ROM's, updated it's firmware etc etc. Would anyone know of a possible fix to fix this issue? Because it's really bugging me! I have Wi-Fi set to never sleep, and always be on... What am I doing wrong?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
Regards,
Dave.
Hi Dave,
Don't expect much from my solution since I am still a noob but this once happened to my device and I installed WiFi Lock from Google Play and enable it. It fixed the issue for me. Hope it will also fix yours.

Thanks for your reply! I've tried what you suggested and sadly didn't work, I did find an app that forces high performance on my phone and that seems to fix the problem though I don't want my phone running Wi-Fi at max power... What happens with the app you suggested, it keeps the Wi-Fi signal, but transferring stops... Weird huh... With the High Performance Widget this doesn't happen. With sense based ROMs the Wi-Fi is working perfectly though.
Dave.
Just a little bump
Settings
Hi,
Check your WiFi policy in Settings, there's an option for this.
Hello
I have some trouble with the GPS of my sensation xe. I can activate it from settings and gps icon appears but it cannot detect my location. I have tried applications like GPS Fix but could not find a solution. Simply, there is no data coming to the phone. I have tried with cloudless open area for about 2 hours and still the same.
I am using ViperS 1.4.1 mod but the situation existed before I flashed the rom.
Another point is, I had some problems with this phone and flashed some radio firmware while solving that problem so maybe it is related to the radio component. However, I have no problem with AM radio or sim cards.
Now, I have no idea about what to do. I would appreciate if you could help.
Thanks.

If the issue is GPS not locking, you could try clearing the AGPS using "GPS Test" application from playstore (In the app, Settings -> Clear AGPS) and then reboot.

Thanks for your reply.
I have tried GPS Test application. It shows both "In View" and "In Use" as 0 so I think it cannot detect any satellites.
When I click "Clear AGPS", a toast shows up saying "Clear AGPS request made".
Nothing has changed after reboot.
Is there anything I should look at?
Thanks
hello
you can try to change the rear part
my gps problem on my sensation came from there
There may be an issue with the gps antenna cable. Do you know where can I find the antenna cable or gps antenna pin?

Thanks, I was struggling with software tools and patches, but in my case the GPS fix problems went away simply changing the back cover! :good:

In my case i had to scratch off the corrosion on the contactplates in the inside of the back cover with the point of a stanley knive.
WOW! it works again thanks for your tip! I really thought the GPS was broken. That when I just bought a bike-case for this htc sensation xe!
Cheers!
Using Google Maps with Lollipop CM12...Has anyone had the issue where they can get a GPS lock, Google even gives you the ETA of your destination, but as you drive, you lose your lock and Maps gets stuck - thinking you're on a random side street nearby while you're actually moving on course? I am using Location in high accuracy mode. I'm running the official 4.4.4 firmware posted by @Tigerstown too. Never had this issue before. Ideas anyone? Thanks!

I have had this issue before. Not on cm cause I don't run that. I'm trying to think of what ROM this was on...I tried all the lock tricks I know. My maps did the same thing as yours. Only choice I had was not to run that ROM..if you get it figured out but I don't know what you can do I didn't try let me know
It looks a lot like this problem : http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/gps-dropping-signal-ota-lollipop-update-t2951515
(Also reported in AOSP : https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=81140 )
Sadly it seems this problem has not yet been solved/acknowledged by Google...
Well that sucks, I'm looking for a fix to it. Preferably a fix that does not involve returning to stock, then reflashing to CM after I get a lock, and hoping the planets were lined up perfectly.

This issue has been fixed for me for quite some time now. Which device and ROM are u running? And are you 110% sure that you're using the latest firmware?
I got it fixed. Try though, and yes I'm absolutely positive that the firmware is up to date. It happened because I was messaging with a room that used a f2fs /system position, and CM needed it to be ext4, so it was formatted before installing. I just installed a known functional ROM, then installed CM with /system left as is. No Isadora since aside from CM using a newer recovery, and forcing it on us now.
A few months ago, I flashed liquidsmooth 3.1 (4.4.2) to my phone from 4.4.2 in hopes of taking advantage of some of the extra features from kitkat. Everything is working great except that GPS is having a very hard time getting a lock whereas previously I could get a solid lock within seconds.
If I use an app called 'GPS test' it reveals that there are plenty of satellites in view, but only 3 or 4 are being used at a time, which obviously isn't sufficient enough for turn-by-turn navigation. Clearing and updating AGPS in the app settings doesn't seem to have much an effect either.
Ive read some reports about those upgrading to CM11 M11 (which is what my rom is based on) with similar issues...something about corrupting the NVRAM and it having negative effects on the gps that are not simply fixed by wiping data or flashing a different version of cm. Unfortunately, there seems to be an unclear consensus on how to go about managing this issue.
Any ideas?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!

I've read if you tighten the screws in the back of the phone it seems to work better, after removing the battery cover of course

The problem that i have is that all my apps remain with mobile radio active when i am on 3G/4G , my question is : Is there any version of lollipop that doesn't have this issue or some kind of fix for this problem ? i tried Greenify + Xposed , but didn't have any satisfying results to keep that app.
I'm sorry if anyone else mentioned this issue before, but it's really frustrating to lose so much battery from this...

there is an xposed module for this bug
Try Calkulin's Rom, really close to stock CMS12.1 but has included the MRA bug fix
Even if the ROM contains the MRA fix, all it does is fix the incorrect stats reporting and not solving the actual problem of the radio being active after you've exited the app.
For @mrpitou @playya please find out the actual fact before misleading a user to think that a ROM with MRA fix or using it with xposed actually solve the battery drain

Now what I have read it does help for quite a few people. Can you post where it says that so I can pass on the proper knowledge. Just telling to find out the actual fact without actually posting facts yourself is counter . Thx for your assistance..
ok, I get it. It's only solving stats. Best way is still to shut off the mobile radio after using the app.

I don't think that helps, either. It might help with reporting issues, but the phone will still drain just as quickly whether it is on radio or wifi. The only real solution is to flash a kitkat rom. However, there are some LP roms that it seems to affect less - you can tell it is not bad when the screen uses at least 3 more battery than play services, android UI, or any app. The best ones I have found are the full CAF roms where you can get 6 hours SOT with minimal tweaking,
Ok thanks for the advice @phoneturf
I read in Sultan's rom there are some issues with volume that can't be set during calls.
out of luck
I've intesively researched this issue and it seems to be somewhere deep in the android system, nobody really knows how to fix it although it's already pretty certain whats causinng it
The issue only occurs when using mobile data, when an app has used the mobile data connection it doesn't shut it off, resulting in the radio still being active
it does however not use up any of your data plan, the radio is just being left on for some reason
your only solution right know is to wait for android marshmallow and hope that google has resolved the issue by then
