Hey guys, I'm trying to theme my signal icons and the style I'm going for means I need to colour the data connection but I'm struggling to pick a color, given the status bar is often transparent, black out white.
This is cell and WiFi

Which works well and i like it. But even with an outline, the data connection is hard to see so I have decided that the only way is a different colour. White and black are obviously out. As is an semi-transparent colour, like the grey no signal bars.
Here is a screenshot

Dark Grey sounds like a plan and after much googing, I've potentially found how to do that in gimp. Gimp is not exactly intuitive.

I am much more familiar with Photoshop, but since my home PC is Linux, I will often start projects there, or need to complete them there. My Work computer is Windows, but I would prefer to have consistency between my OS's. I don't really fancy a "photoshop" for Linux hack, wine etc

Haha, Yeah I dont have room for a windows partition, beside I like my SSH ftp server stuff (never connect a cable again is my goal ) - Plus if I'm compiling, I cant just reboot.
I do have a windows VM but it all gets annoying on a 14" screen

I went a different route in the end.

The problem with cell is it's already a white layer on top of a semi transparent layer, on top of any colour you can think of layer. In the original configuration (not mine, google's) the data type is in the same location as my first attempt, but there is no white or transparent layer behind it, so it works.
I actually like what I have now. I just wasn't sure before doing it how easy it would have been to move it, otherwise I would have done anyway. I did move it to centre of cell as black but I still found it quite small and hard to see, with all the lines causing an optical headache

Hi,
Just wondering if any devs will come across this thread since I was hoping that they can make somehow a touch screen calibration app for the z1 since it really has touch issues. You may refer to the thread found in the sony forums and youtube to see how worse is the issue.
Touch screen fails to recognize touches and its really annoying that it affects the daily use and you cant use your phone when gaming..
I really hope someone kind will help me out as this will also be a great help to other people who have the same exact problem.
Many thanks.

Is there a difference between your flashable zip and the one here in the forums? my model is c6903 LTE. will it affect my phone since I'm using what's designated in my country. Or if that did not solve the issue can I use SUS to revert back to my original firmware?
EDIT ADD: so you do have before the touch issue when using the phone during games and when its flat on a surface in which the phone stops registering touches?

I just merged 259's system in flashable .257 zip.
You can uncheck all "Wipe:" and uncheck Kernel only and check all others in "Exclude:" to prevent overwriting your system or baseband.
I'm using C6903 UK LTE, I flashed my zip and kernel only and I can still use LTE on .259 with no problem.
Yes, you can always use SUS or Flashtool to reverting back.
My issue was during games.

Thanks for the detailed explanation mate, I'll send a pm also to you later. I'll try what you have said by the time I got home. I hope it works. For the mean time, may I ask a favor? can you please try placing your z1 on a flat surface and try running the service test to see if the problem is really solved since the issue is very hard to replicate. Several tries/attempts are needed.
First try placing your phone on top of a paper, then on a pillow and last is on a flat table.
Sorry to trouble you but you really got my hopes up for my ****ty z1.

Thanks mate, been waiting for your reply as I'm refreshing the page once in a while. Have you tried continuous lines or scribble since that triggers the problem when you're using the screen continuously without lifting your finger.
Sorry if I'm really bothering you but I really just have to confirm and once this fixed the problem, I can share your tip to the guys at the sony forum so that they will be freed from the touch screen curse. I really appreciate your help and effort.

Yep, that's my main gripe with the touch issue as it loses touch and returns again. I'll try what you have told me at home then if it works or not I'll get back to you.
I'll be holding on to what you have said that the touch problem is not there anymore since you flashed .259 :good:
users on .259 reported that their touchscreen issue was not solved even after updating to .259
Really sucks since my problem gets from worse to worse day by day

If you get it then put it out here, let the community benefit.
As for customer support, i emailed them about the bootloader issue with people who have a status of No and the response was just like i was speaking with a robot, i asked is there a way around it and that the previous response was neither helpful nor educational and I got another of the same responses, i've sent a third email asking if they just copy and paste an email from a list and if I don't get a human response with at least a glimmer of hope then i'll be boycotting Sony for life and i'll make sure everyone knows how poor their services are.
I've never asked them a question in my life, I did mention that and this is the response I get, lol forget that, I've learnt a few lessons from getting this phone, first one being never buy a sony again and second, always check if the bootloader is unlockable and not locked because of a networks request.

It's not a software issue, but I'm confused Some people have this and some not.
Should i bring to Service?
Nope... Not all of M2s have this... Mine doesn't and like SMikeS said, on the reviews you find on Youtube, a lot of them don't have it....
A few of them came with this screen problem, where the internal light goes over the edge of the screen and reflects on the glass...
You can try to change the device, but as far as I know, it doesn't affect in any way the usability... And I'm not sure they will change it since it's not an actual problem, it just looks weird...

Most of the time it will solve itself. Its the glue they used that needs to dry for a few weeks. I take it your manufacturing date is fairly recent? You can find it on the box.
You can use a UV lamp to help cure the glue properly. It has to be a specific type though, go to a nail salon and ask put your phone under one of their lamps. You only need to do it for ten minutes.

Some users have reported that sunlight helps, but it'd take quite a few hours because the UV isn't concentrated. Don't you have nail salons anywhere near you? Nothing bad will happen if you keep using the phone.

I am from Bangladesh and here as far as I know there is no such saloons. There are beauty parlors but which are restricted to female entry only and I also dont know what kind of services they provide, but probably UV is not among them.
But we do have good sunlight. I can keep it under direct sunlight for 2-3 hours if that has the possibility to fix this issue and while not harming the phone.

I think I have lost my patience today. I have waited for one month, hoping that something would come up about this, but no, Xposed still doesn't work (I am not blaming the dev at all), the new OB6 update did ****e about it, and other apps like SoundHUD are just meaningless.
I have seen so many mods for LP already, full screen call, UPSM etc., but no one has thought about doing this, I mean bringing back all the peace and privacy of the world (at least for me, however plenty others are there I am sure).
I can pay 6 bucks (USD/ 8 EURO) for the app, yeah its ridiculously cheap but I am still a student. Other people who badly need it please also mention here, and how much you are willing to pay. No one will and should make anything for free.
Thanks in advance.

I can pay 6 bucks (USD/ 8 EURO) for the app, yeah its ridiculously cheap but I am still a student. Other people who badly need it please also mention here, and how much you are willing to pay. No one will and should make anything for free.
Thanks in advance.

Could you tell me which two ones mate? I have been seeing the development section for past few days (even when I am not really a fan of custom ROMs) and saw that one or two ROMs have the Silent mode feature (especially in the ROM which says bring back the Silent mode from Note Edge) but then saw that users are reporting that when Silent mode is on Alarm doesn't sound! From then I haven't looked at the section thinking that no one will actually bother to do anything about it further. But if there's one ROM I would happy to try it.
Try either g00h v3.5 tweaked or darklords v2.1. The people saying about the alarm not working in silent mode are just thick lol. When you set an alarm you have to click settings in alarm app and check to sound even in silent mode...that's it mate. The choice is yours but u personally use g00h v3.5 tweaked note 4 port.
Samsung added it with their latest update.

Oh goodie, these type of people are really ... great
Anyway, thanks once again, will flash the ROM at night. Can't believe how many hours I have wasted behind this!
@celderic: Dude, I am on the OB6 ROM. Samsung did add that but it's just a farce. I mean Silent mode should only make the device Silent, nothing else. But if you enable Silent mode on this ROM (OB6), this disables the LED notification, meaning LED won't fire in case for missed events, and the screen won't turn on either, so what's really the point of adding it? Well nothing! They just replaced the damned None (Interruptions) mode with this setting, just one advantage, with this Silent Mode the Alarm sounds, with None that wasn't the case.
I want the REAL SILENT MODE, like it was on KitKat, LED will glow, screen will turn on on notifications, everything, EXACTLY how it was on KitKat. This simple thing proves how much stupidity can human beings sometimes undertake, well thanks to Google

No worries mate. Have fun and if you choose g00h v3.5 I know you'll love it. It's so fast yet smooth as butter and just like having a note 4 lol [emoji6]

Ha ha absolutely mate. I am confident that I will like it.
Just confirming in case, (the above user reminded me this to ask actually) with Silent mode on the LED does work right? And the Screen also comes on in case of notifications?

That's what my home screen looks like on this rom.

Ouch, now I am kinda scared
Well if you have around couple of minutes to waste for this idiot could you kindly test? I mean just put the phone on Silent mode and give yourself a missed call or a text, and kindly notice whether the screen turns on or not and the LED is blinking afterwards or not? Also make sure that you are not using any of those priority modes, I mean you should be on that 'Always interrupt' settings.
If you could kindly check this for me I will be really grateful, I mean it could save me a gigabyte of data

can u tell me what rom/mod that is. i really love 7 dock icons.
thanks.
The simplest way go to settings then sound and notifications then go to vibration intensity and there make intensity to minimum (zero ) then u have silent mode..

I'm on g00h tweaked note 4 port v3.5 mate. The layout etc is selectable in the aroma setup.
Fairly new to the OPO.
Running OxygenOS.
2nd day fully using the device.
Wondering if this is normal:
Thanks!

It is CyanogenOs 12.1,not Oxygen Os.And please get a better carrier/network provider.
Also,to answer your question,no,it is not normal for that drain to happen that much.Consider moving to another rom if that drain increases.

Oh right. That last picture
Thank you for that. Oddly enough though - I downloaded an app for monitoring the signal since I was surprised by the lack of signal illustrated by the status bar icon. And it seems that the icon is wrong (?).
Here:
what are your thought on this? Could this just be a big in software of the CyanogenOS?
Thank you
Showing no/very-low signal:

I beg to differ. If there's anything wrong,it's your network provider and that app showing that you've better signal.

Hi again.
I downloaded another app. While the notification cell symbol look "empty" (at times), both apps report Good Signal (at around 88 db).
So I am inclined to believe it's the status bar symbol/ icon which is off.
You still don't agree?
Very curious about this.
Thank you

Thank you once again!
You are very helpful. I do appreciate that.
Since you want me to flash to a new ROM, can I flash to LineageOS 7.1?
If I am going to change ROM, I would prefer going with something more up to date. Unless you think otherwise.
Thanks!

May I ask: why don't you like this rom (CyanogenOS)? Why do you suspect it to be the culprit in the cellular signal?

Why do you think I hate Cos? Lmao,I was using cos12.1+xperia ui a few days ago.
As per about the cellular signal, you might be using an outdated cos12.1,not the last stable one. When I migrated to Cos12.1(last stable version),I didn't had any kind of issues like you're facing with cos12.1.So,it is unlikely that it is a bug.Anyhow,I'll recommend you to use LineageOs,as it is updated regularly.
