Will taiwan recovery work on singapore model?
I got the way to get it finally.
When you got OTA update, please download it but don't install.
Go to download folder and you will find ota zip file. Copy this file to your pc, extract zip file, get recovery.img inside zip file.
Then just do fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Now your recovery already back to stock recovery and ready to install OTA.
After OTA you will lost your root and Bootloader back to lock.
If you go to HTC DEV to get unlock Bootloader, your phone will restore clean back to factory conditions. Please remember to back u your personal data.
Other alternatives that you can try using towel root apk to get root. If you succeed to get root with towel root, you can unlock Bootloader without HTC DEV.
Find in xda how to unlock Bootloader without HTC dev. Use M8 version is it the same as E8.

Did towel root work for you ?? Did you manage to root without unlocking bootloader. ??
Not always succeed. But there is chance to get root. The other way using HTC dev to unlock Bootloader and root.

Yes, I unlocked via htcdev and then rooted. I was wondering if another method had been found.

After I did the OTA, I found that my bootloader remains unlocked. There is no need to go htcdev to unlock it again.
That's is good when Bootloader still keep unlocked. But at least there are some way to get it back to unlocked when Bootloader locked after OTA update.

Hello,
While trying to install a RUU to send back my phone I got an error about my bootloader version.
Then I can't boot on my phone, I can't access recovery and the hboot and back to S-ON.
The only thing that is working is fastboot.
I tried to unlock the bootloader to be able to install a recovery again but I get a "Command Error" when I execute "fastboot oem get_identifier_token".
After trying a LOT of tutorials I have no clue what to do to get my phone back on.
Do you have any advices ?
Thanks a lot !!

Given that this has been covered many times, you would be better off listing EXACTLY what you have tried and the results you get so that people can have a better chance to help you. However, the answers are all out there and you simply need to read and make sure that you understand what you are doing and why.
I did read a lot of answers, with no success.
I exactly have the following symptoms :
When I boot my phone, I'm redirected to hboot with a security warning. If I go to recovery I get a sign from the phone that seems to say that no recovery is install.
I tried the following :
Try to install another RUU -> I still get error 140 about bootloader version
Tried a lot of different tutorials to install a rom / recovery but I understood that my bootloader is locked and thus need to unlock it. I tried HTCDev method to unlock it but I can't get my identifier_token, I guess this is because my phone is S-ON ?
Fastboot recognize my device (He give my the S/N) but I can't do other commands ...
I suppose that if I could get command from fastboot working again I could extract the recovery_signed.img from the RUU and installed the RUU again with success ...
Thank a lot for your help !

RUU to a higher version.
Had the same problem with a branded phone. Problem is - you need a higher RUU. In my case there was no higher branded RUU.
I've made a gold card and flashed a unbranded higher RUU (latest ICS), and that makes the phone work again.
But without HTC-dev unlock we now can't get root! So if you can't find a higher RUU with your brand you may can't bring it to service with the new unbranded software on it.

I'm trying to get my father's phone ruu'ed to 3.14 tmo.
I rooted his phone and unlocked through htc dev a long time ago.
He is currently running cm10 w/ hboot 1.09 and radio 0.16.31501s.
S-on w/ tmo CID.
I used faceplam S-off on my phone and lost 3g/4g. I do not want this to happen to his phone.
So what I'am asking is what do i have to do to get his tmo HTC ONE S safely onto the JB 3.14 from htc/tmo?
When i try to ruu using the 3.14 i get ERROR [159]: IMAGE ERROR. It says i have the wrong image and to download the correct one. Its the same one i used on my phone repeatably.
Any help would be great. Really afraid of borking his phone.
after some googling. I found that the ruu has to match the hboot and be re-locked. Some one also suggested flashing a stock zip and stock recovery. However i cant find a stock rom zip for 1.53. So i just tried re-locking and ruu'ing, but now i get ERROR 155.
Any help would be great. Again i can't s-off for fear of being stuck on edge like my phone

fastboot oem lock
(also heard but haven't tried because I'm S-Off that you can run RUU.exe from fastboot USB without relocking bootloader)
Edit: to answer the bootloader question. Yes you can ruu a different hboot as long as it is a higher hboot. (s-off no matter)
I got it. I had to re-lock and run ruu 1.84 rc2 first. Then it let me ruu 3.14.

I have my Sprint HTC One e8 set up with TWRP and it is rooted.
It is still set to S-On (firewater failed saying that HTC patched the vulnerability).
So far, I have only used TWRP to backup: boot, data, and system.
How would I go about getting the device back to its original state?
I am on a Mac and have ADB installed.
I may have found this file online: 0PAJIMG_M8_ACE_WHL_K44_SENSE60_Sprint_WWE_1.12.651.1_Radio_1.08.20.0707_2_NV_SPCS_2.30_003_release_384985_signed_2.zip
*** CORRUPT FILE - DO NOT USE ***
But, if it is possible to reset the phone using the files that TWRP has access to on the phone?
My goal is to restore this phone to its original state if possible.
You dont need to restore any file, you need to connect phone in fastboot mode and to type fastboot oem lock or something like that i am not sure i am writi g from my phone and i am not at home.
Sent from my HTC One_E8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
But, will that remove TWRP and remove the TAMPERED tag?

Nope, that simple re-locks the phone.
I was to restore it to how it was before rooting.
No root, nothing, just the original software.
I think you need to get S-OFF to do that, and Google kinda agrees.
Any thoughts on how to do that without Firewater?

As far as I know the only other option is paying $25 for SunShine.
somebody tried firewater metod for s-off? i read on google it doing almost all htc models but i cant try yet i need first to restore stock ruu
I tried it. Firewater reports back that HTC patched the vulnerability. I am wondering if HTC pushed the patch in a way that I can revert it and then use Firewater.
Someone on another forum suggested that if I flash the ROM to CM11 that I might be able to use Firewater over that to get S-OFF. But, I don't think that CM11 is compatible with the E8 yet. Am I wrong about that?

CM11 reports that the device is "Unsupported".
So, regardless of its similarities to the M8, rooting an E8 still doesn't let you do much...

Think you can't flashed it. The RUU is for Sprint network which is CDMA and single SIM. Your phone should be GSM and dual SIM. Better do not to try
Make sense.. thanks for the reply
Guess I'll have to wait for the E8 dual SIM to be released in Europe in order to get official RUU

Possibility is using India RUU. But never find this RUU available yet.
Technically if we have India RUU we can change CID and MID by scoopy method then you can flash India RUU on your M8sw. I have ask scoopy to work on it.

If I'm not wrong, India RUU is built for CDMA while China Unicom is WCDMA/GSM.
1) Would flashing that rom prevent the sim card to work?
2) Does India RUU comes with as much bloatware as China RUU and Indian based language Blinkfeed as well?

This has happened after I flashed my phone with official rom.zip extracted from RUU (CID: HTC__J15; MID: PJ8311000); first time it flashed and showed error 90 (you have to reflash again), i waited fir htc logo to come back but it didn't and it is now stuck as I mentioned above.
My phone shows as fastboot device but rather weird s/n (??t fastboot) where ? is strange symbol.
Here is fastboot getvar all output: (screenshot attached)

My phone was S-OFF, the problem now is I can't flash anything cuz my bootloader is locked and when I tried to unlock it from HTCDEV website it gives me error 150; wrong token or something like that.
Also when I try flashing anything like boot.img or rom.zip I get FAILED (remote: not allowed), attached screenshot
Does anyone know something about this? any help is appreciated.
Phone stuck in fastboot

Which RUU did you extract the ROM zip from? As far as I know there aren't any RUU's for your model (Evita_utl).

I downloaded it from http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Evita, the one starting with "RUU_EVITA_UL_ICS_40_S_HTC_ARA_2.40.415.1"
That RUU isn't for your device, it's not compatible. You've most likely borked your partitions. There isn't really anything you can do now apart from trying to find the stock firmware for your variant (the Evita_utl, not the Evita_ul) to fix your partitions, this will be difficult as I don't think your stock firmware is even available.

Thanks for replying. Does it have a different partition layout than the other One XL devices? isn't all of them supposed to have the same partitions? And I had S-OFF so it should not matter what version I flashed as far as I know -correct me if I'm wrong-
After rebooting several times my htc one boots into a screen that says my device is encrypted ,and i can't boot into recovery anymore,i flashed TWRP recovery several times..but this doesn't help at all..
any suggestions ?

First, remove your serialno. and imei, please.
You can try, if a RUU helps (all your userdata will be lost/wiped):
Download this zip file
Rename it to PL80IMG.zip (make sure it is not named PL80IMG.zip.zip) and copy it in the external sdcard. Boot into the bootloader and let the phone recognise the zip. Confirm to update with vol+ and let it run until its finished.
If the RUU won't flash, you should try to change your CID to SuperCID (11111111) with fastboot (use search to find out how, uncountable guides how to do).

Many thanks for sharing file and for your great contribution to the popularization One SV.
PL80IMG_K2_UL_JB422_SENSE50_MR_HTC_Europe_3.11.401.1_Radio__1.18.40a.00.05_10.81a.40.23L_release_338297_signed.zip
Whether the file was extracted from the RUU?
If so, where is the RUU * .exe?
If not, where did he come?
Is your file is a newer version than the OTA from a "[OTA+GUIDE][K2UL] ALL Official OTA HTC SV (LTE)" thread?

p.s.
In this thread James released unsigned file.

I don't know, where this is coming from.
But this IS the RUU in another form (zip instead exe) for flashing in bootloader.

File PL80IMG_K2_UL_JB422_SENSE50_MR_HTC_Europe_3.11.401.1_Radio__1.18.40a.00.05_10.81a.40.23L_release_338297_signed.zip, who You shared 2016-01-16 is the same file PL80IMG_K2_UL_JB422_SENSE50_MR_HTC_Europe_3.11.401.1_Radio__1.18.40a.00.05_10.81a.40.23L_release_338297_unsigned.zip, which provided James, because they have the same checksum.
Both come from the same place where they were uploaded 2015-04-11.
The file is not an official file from HTC, because it is decoded.
Who cares, if it works...!?!
