Will you buy the nexus 6 or stay with the nexus 5? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will you guys get the nexus 6 when it's available for sale or stick with the nexus 5 cause I've bought the nexus 5 about only a month ago and the phones get to my country overpriced -the 16 GB nexus 5 was about 500$- so I'm worried people might stop developing for or using the nexus 5 cause I may not be able to get the nexus 6

How many threads do you need to make?
There is already a "Nexus 6" thread in the General section.

I suppose this is different from speculation. Anyway, I think it all depends on what it will offer. Possibly bigger battery, better camera. Some new and original features. Processor/RAM doesn't really matter to me. It's already fast. I think I'm leaning on keeping it just because we will have Android L to play with so the software will be the same. However, if it has unique features I might get it.

I usually get the next Nexus pending price...

Assuming the price, I'll be hitting up the Nexus 6, and getting my girl to switch from Verizon to AT&T and give her my Nexus 5.

You damn Skippy I'm going to buy the nexus 6.

[Q] Keep Nexus, upgrade to Nexus 4 or other?

Merry Christmas all!
I currently have the Nexus which I am more then happy with. My contract runs out beginning of January and I don't know what to do...
Keep my nexus and get the phone upgrade and sell it on ebay etc..
Upgrade to the Nexus 4 and sell my nexus.
Upgrade to Galaxy III and sell Nexus.
Any ideas what I should do? I love my Nexus for the pure Google experience, I don't like my partners Galaxy III as it is bloated with loads of Samsung rubbish.
I think it's between keeping my Nexus and getting the Nexus 4. Or try make as much money as I can by getting an upgrade to sell on.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Should upgrade to the GS3 its way better than the nexus 4 cause of expandable storage plus it is more durable than the nexus 4 as well.
Think I will get the Galaxy 3 and have a play with it using a custom rom.
Then sell my least favorite phone.

I second this. And whoever says a GS3 is a superior device to the N4, hasn't enjoyed using an N4. I have a 16GB, and I've barely used 4 GB. If storage is an issue for you, then by all means get a GS3. If not, you won't regret the N4. It is without a doubt, the best device I have ever used...and I've used quite a few, including the GS3.

Personally, I require a lot of space and can't see myself being limited to 16gb of local space.. its just too little
I would say think between Galaxy S III (or wait for next one), or the Nexus 4. It depends on your needs in a phone. Hell even the Note II is great as well, but it all depends on your uses.
I'm keeping my GNex until I see what the Nexus 5 is going to look like. The Nexus 4 just wasn't a compelling enough upgrade.

You need the SG3
Nexus 4 rocks... You won't look back!
Like others have said, if you don't use much storage space, get the Nexus 4. I don't use much storage either, so the Nexus 4 is perfect for me.

Hi mates, i'm new to android world, and i'd like to buy a new good phone, is really worth to buy nexus 5 o nexus 4? which are the main differencies? i see in my country nexus 5 would cost about 100$ more than nexus 4, is nexus 5 worth the price?? thanks a lot

That is a pretty general question that is hard to answer, because it is depends on what you value. The simple answer is that the N5 is basically one-year newer in terms of the hardware inside, has a little bigger screen, and supports 4g LTE. There are a lot of other minor differences, so I suggest googling Nexus 5 vs Nexus 4, because there are a few articles already out there that discuss the differences. More impressions will probably follow as more people get their hands on the Nexus 5.
Either device can do all the cool smartphone stuff you could want them to do right now, but the Nexus 5 will be a little more future-proof since the hardware in it is a year newer and it will get system updates longer. Whether that and the other differences are worth the $100 difference is up to you.
Of course get the newer phone ... what a silly question

If you like/need latest and greatest, or any of the features unique to the N5 are must-haves, then go for it. If not, the N4 is still a fantastic device and will be for a few years yet, and may save you some money. A good condition N4 can be had for about half the price of a new N5.
I find the screen to be the perfect size for me. I did have a note 2 which was too big. I really like the size of this phone.

also do you advice the 16 gb nexus 5 black/white or the 32 gb nexus 5 black/white? is the 32 gb really worth or 16 gb is enogh??
@killomp if your going to get the HTC ONE, Just wait for the second Gen. The NX5 is better then OG ONE in almsot every way behinds viewing angle and possible light bleed and not being made of aluminum (the one is also an uncomfortable tall device to hold IMHO)

SO, to put it in perspective, you've pretty much got better everything. I like the Nexus 4. It's got a great feel to it but the glass back kind of puts me off (even though it was fixed in later models). It's got last year's best tech whereas the nexus 5 has this year's best tech or pretty much about as good as you'd need it really...
For me, when you take hardware out, I think the Nexus 5 has a much better feel. It's slightly curved back is really enjoyable and comfortable as opposed to the Nexus 4's flat back. I prefer the matte finish instead of the Glass back. It's also a lot more low profile. I personally prefer the Nexus 5 a lot more. Better hardware and a more comfortable feel for me.
Basically it really comes down to your budget. They're both entirely usable phones with great hardware that is more than sufficient for running pretty much anything. If you feel you could blow that extra $100 then by all means, go for the Nexus 5. But you can't go wrong with the Nexus 4 either

I just saw your last post
The HTC One is beautiful. Just got about the most premium feel to any phone i've seen. But I'm pretty sure the HTC One will cost a lot more dollars than the Nexus 5 or Nexus 4. In Canada at least, it's like $300-$400 CAD difference
If you can afford it, get the LG G2 instead. It's similar to N5 but with much better battery life

Upgrade from N4 to N5?

I have had a Nexus 4 since the end of August.
I've been given the opportunity to upgrade to a new Nexus 5. Should I go for it, or should I wait instead and get the Nexus 6 (or whatever it will be called) in October when its released?
Anyone who did make the jump from the N4, your opinions will be greatly appreciated. I can't see any groundbreaking improvements...?
So far I'm leaning on sticking with the N4 for now, its not even a year old yet and does pretty much all I want to do on it. I'm a casual user, no root, stock KitKat etc.
Cheers.

In all honesty I don't think it is worth it, yeah; 1080p, better camera, processor, and speaker is moved but really..... eh as far as I am concerned.. If I remember correctly you can get LTE on the Nexus 4 (I never did though). I upgraded just because I wanted the latest nexus device.
I also got my N4 in August. I only had it until the week the N5 came out. It was just too tempting! I don't think the N5 is a massive upgrade but my N4 used to shut itself down overnight sometimes. The N5 has been totally reliable and feels much more robust. Its the first Android phone that I've kept close to stock. Franco kernel is well worth looking at.

lte works great on the nexus 4. sure, it officially doesnt have it. but its easy enough to enable.
anyways, in speed and performance, the nexus 5 blows away the nexus 4.
Upgraded from the N4 to N5 since November and never looked back!
If you can wait for the Motorola-Lenovo Nexus then wait for it or if you can't buy it now then sell it later then use that $ pickup the new motoleno nexus
I also came from the n4 and mainly upgraded to the n5 because of the bigger screen, camera, and sd800. The camera itself was enough for me to buy it since the n4 had this horrible over exposure preview problem when taking pictures. Which made it extremely difficult to tell if it was a good picture or not until I went into the gallery to check it.
Either way, I have no regrets
No regrets, had the N4 for about 4 months before moving to the N5. N4 was my first foray back into Android phone since the LG Eve (which Rogers/LG abandoned pretty much, had to beg to get 1.6 when everyone else was getting 2.2). N5 to me feels much more refined than the N4, in terms of just the feel of the phone itself (thinner, sleeker, barely taller but the screen difference was noticeable). That said, it's much more like an evolutionary vs revolutionary device when compared with the N4.
I would say no. I would personally only upgrade ever 2 cycle. Went from an Samsung Galaxy S2X to a nexus 5 and it wasn't that big of a jump, but the price was right.
Snapdragon 800 ia a beast
had N4 from march, changed to another one in August..and in November moved to N5. wouldnt go back in a lifetime!
go for n5
The Nexus 4 isn't that bad although the only thing I miss/don't miss is the glass back. It made the phone stand out but I was so scared of damaging it.
What I really do love about the Nexus 5 is that we now have the option for a 32gb (which I now have unopposed to a 16gb Nexus 4). The screen is also a lot better, camera is a million times better and the speaker has definitely improved over the Nexus 4. I remember being embarrassed when showing a friend or a family member a YouTube video and them asking me to turn my volume up and I'm like "its all the way up".

I don't usually change phones very often frequently, so if I did get the N5 I wouldn't be expecting to get an N6 straight after in a few months.

I'm not too sure , I've read on phonearena.com saying during the MWC, a google representative stated there will be no new nexus device before Q4 of this year.

So i had the Nexus 4, changed to Galaxy S4 and i am now on my Nexus 5.
Speed is a reason! You don't see that in speedtests but Nexus 4 and S4 had some laggy feeling that the Nexus 5 doesn't have. I played last week with the nexus 4 of a friend last week an i felt like i went back to stoneage... But afterall its everything a matter of perception.
The second reason to change is the camera! I hated the really bad camera of the nexus 4, i liked the camera of the Galaxy S4 and i love the camera of the Nexus 5. Yes the galaxy s4 has a better camera on high light conditions, but i make 90% of my pictures in parties/night under low light conditions and there the camera of the Nexus 5 is brilliant!
The third reason is Nexus wireless charger with it's magnets and the vertical charging! Really nice although a bit expensive gimmick.Really good to use in your car.
After all everything goes down to the money. I was able to make the change without paying anything, but i would definitely make the change even if i had to pay!

What phones do you plan on getting (JoD)

So what phones do you plan on getting for those on Jump on Demand. Or do you plan on sticking with the Note 5 until the 6?
For me I plan on getting the Huawei Nexus, and then my last upgrade will be the next gen HTC(hoping for a phablet like the one max)
I was hoping to get the z5 on tmobile but it doesn't look like that's happening. So I will prolly get the g4 pro and some kind of nexus device.
If I signed up for it in august, do I get two more upgrades until Dec 31st? Or do I get two more upgrades until August of next year?

Same as me . Really liking the size and build quality of my new Note 5, and the upcoming Huawei Nexus is supposed to be near identical size as well and high quality metal build. But will carrier stores be selling this Nexus like they did the Motorola Nexus 6 ? Or will it be a Google Play store sale only ?
And I too, am interested to see what HTC has ready for the M10.
But between this Note 5 or Hauwei Nexus, I doubt I'll switch to anything else between those two, until the Note 6.

That's what I mean. I don't know why they don't allow all flag ship models. I can see why they wouldn't allow someone to get $200 phone then trade it in for $800 phone.
Many T-Mobile aren't even carrying the Nexus 6 and it's very soon EOL so that makes sense. I was talking about the next Nexus assuming they will carry the Huawei phablet

Note 5 is a great phone, so is the Note 4. If your happy then stay with Note 4.
I may actually jump to the new iPhone when it gets released. Here's why (don't judge) - I've always been a hardcore google/android guy and I JUST jumped to the Note 5 when it was released. I love it and don't really have a reason to get rid of it, but I also just purchased a custom Moto X Pure which should be here on the 15th and depending on how that phone performs and whether or not I like going back to stock android and losing some of the Note's features. I may just do something a little different and go the iphone route for a bit. Seeing as how I'll have two phones I can just swap the sim cards out at any time. Or I'll just keep Note 5 and see if one of the nexus's is considered a "premium" level phone and jump to one of those.
I like the Note 5 for now, so no plans to JoD, but I like having the option of switching if something good comes out. Even if I don't switch I am still paying the reduced $25/m from the JoD promo for the Note 5 so I am saving money by going JoD. If nothing better comes along I most likely will jump to the Note 6 next year.

There are a LOT of ROMs for this device, seeing as it's a Nexus, and all the ROMs will be updated one Marshmallow is released.
But honestly, most of these ROMs all do the same exact thing, so there's a ton of variety to choose from, but they all almost have the same features and stuff.
But, then again, you might just wanna skip this phone altogether and go straight to the new Nexus 5X once it's released next week or whatever.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I would wait and jump on he 5X, its going to be a beast, and at $399-$449 why not grab the latest toy for $50-$100 more than the original 5
P.S. but to answer ur question, the Nexus 5 is only two years old, I still see active development on the Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy S2, which are both pushing 4+ years, so I'd say if ur heart is sold on the 5, ur going to get at least another 2yrs out of it
