hi gays
i have droid razer maxx hd 4.4.2
x926 verizon us
please help me MOD edit: Piracy is illegal and forbidden to discuss on this site!
please help
Steps
you need adb files common for every Android phone
install Motorola drivers and connect to USB in fastboot mode.
first unlock the boot loader via Motorola site
(instructions for that is there in their site)
now install custom recovery twrp
with commands in adb folder (shift+right click)
fastboot flash recovery.IMG
now download superSU zip and flash it. you are done.
help me with thanks if I helped you.
or download and run towelroot https://towelroot.com/tr.apk
and if you want to unlock bootloader run https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7461563/Motopocalypse.apk
if you have any questions visit the forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783912
TowelRoot is definitely the way to go. installs just like an apk.. then just flash your choice of recovery with the Flashify App from Play Store.

I have the backwards problem here. I am trying to bring the xoom to Japan as a present for the In-Laws. I can pick up the Xoom wifi in the U.S. for around $399, but the In-Laws and only read Japanese. Could I convert the U.S. version to Japanese (need much more than just the language settings, need the icons and the Japanese market, etc)? Thanks for all your help.
Go over to the Moto Dev site and download the stock wifi image for Japan, flash using the instructions on the site. There you go, your US Xoom is now a Japanese Xoom. Oh and don't relock the bootloader.
Seriously, that would be amazing, thanks so much.
I have flashed different kernels and roms on my cellphone but never done this before. Can you please answer the following questions when you get a chance.
1. Do I need to root the xoom?
2. Do I need to download clockword mod recovery?
3. Can I do all of this via terminal manager (type in the commands for flashing), the instructions on the site only has these lines... Where do I type this stuff or should I unzip the Japan kddi.zip file?
Instructions to Flash & Re-Lock Your Motorola XOOM:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem lock
Thanks so much for your help again!!!

He said: "Oh and don't relock the bootloader."
1. no root needed
2. no cwm needed.
3. u need adb and fastboot, motodrivers, latest sdk, official images from motorola
i think there is a thread here in XDA, for non US xooms flashing US image. just look for it.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
As above.
Follow OP's post in this thread to unlock the Xoom.
Then download the Japanese image, flash using the instructions you posted above from a command prompt in Windows.
Important: ignore the last command on the Moto site. You do not want to lock the bootloader. Locking the bootloader when you're running a different image than intended on the device may brick your Xoom.
Is there any devs who can help me to sign an zip file? I need the system signature, of motorola . Because i can't go in bootloader or fastboot mode. I have my system folder boot.img and recovery.img and certificates. Please help me.
Comeon devs help this motorola defy mini xt320/xt321.
This device is out almost a year ago but still no support for it.
Still not rooted.
No cwm recovery.
Cant boot into fastboot mode.
Need help in signing zip files for this phone and much more for crap device..
Please devs it will be a good device if rooted and if supported.
Hi
I have a standard motorola moto g 8gb unlocked phone - not tied to any uk network on 4.4.2 .
I wish to downgrade to 4.3 or change the rom to another rom.
Before i do this what is the easiest/simplest way to backup the ROM (o.s) which is not root'd ?
Or do I have to root the phone?
Also do I need to install drivers or not for the phone as Windows 7 sees the phone fine in explorer/my computer when the phone is turned on - i can drag drop files on there no problem
Thanks in advance.

a way to backup without root? Yep.
a way to backup without unlocking the bootloader? Nope.
You see, for everything you need the bootloader unlocked: rooting, flashing, etc...
so if you want to backup anything you first need to unlock the bootloader to flash a Custom Recovery and then do the backup and that can be done without rooting the phone, or touching the rom at all.
You will need the motorola drivers and adb:
Here's to backup the NAND (needs root): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263392
Here's to backup the ROM (Choose one): TWRP CWM
Hi
ok made a bit of progress.
never thought it would be so much of a mission !
got the bootlocker unlocked..
now how do i install the clockwork mod or twrp app sorry for my ignorance. i have followed the links you've kindly posted me.
i am familiar with dos commands etc. - so that doesn't phase me.
i've downloaded the apps from a site both clockwork and twrp - .img files - do these have to be installed via command
prompt with fastboot to install them respectively whilst the phone is plugged in with usb cable in the bootloader phase?
are there not any "windows" apps that can install these apps?
Thanks in advance
You don't have to install both of them!

Chk this for automated process
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50029015
and also
You do not have to install both the recoveries, either cwm or twrp not both of them!
you said you unlocked bootloader, that means you have adb installed with fastboot
copy the .img file for twrp/cwm whichever you prefer to the folder where adb is installed
rename it to recovery.img
then turn off the phone and boot into bootloader and run
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Is TWRP.img necessary to install SuperSu.zip. Can I use the in-built system.
Like, I go in recovery mode in my Gionee S6 pro and install update from SD card.
Will it work? Has anybody tried this way to root the phone.?

You must need any custom recovery to flash SuperSU.zip to root your android. SuperSU.zip can't flash in stock recovery.
If your android running atleast lollipop version then you can use magisk v14 to patch your boot image and flash through fastboot

Since, twrp.img cannot be flashed due to technological problem, the only method to root is try to make a hit on in-built one.
Are you pretty sure that in-built recovery will not work and twrp is necessary.
Or i can actually take a hit with this one.

Hi all
I'm looking to learn how to root a BLU Advance 5.0 HD phone (Marshmallow Android 6.0)
I'm newbie...
I already found a a blutwrp.img on https://bluroms.info/ website but this is the only thing I'm sure I have to use it.
About ADB I found the genuine google package (platform-tools-latest-windows) and the SR4-SuperSU-v2.78-SR4-20161115184928 package too.
I don't know if all this part are good for my phone...
Thanks for help...
I'm also looking for a root. I tried a few suggestions like Kingoroot but nothing has worked.
marshmallow
there is no automatic root for Marshmallow this is why I posted this thread ...

Yes you have to use the twrp recovery. Have you even flashed it? Using adb when the device is on, (make sure to enable usb debugging in settings and authorize your computer) run adb reboot bootloader and then make sure that fastboot recognizes your device and run fastboot oem unlock to unlock your bootloader. Unlocking your bootloader this way is the easiest and doesn't work all times. If it successfully unlocked your bootloader, just do fastboot flash recovery <recovery.img location> and then reboot into system and run adb reboot recovery, from there you can push the su zip or just adb sideload it. To push you do adb push <location to supersu.zip> /sdcard and then go to install and find the zip and flash it, to sideload it, go to advanced and hit sideload and type adb sideload <location to supersu zip>
If I helped, hit thanks Hope it works!

What's the codename for that device? Open up an adb shell, and report whatever comes before the $ sign
Hi
Thanks for help
There is many info here
please look at the file attached
I am strongly doubting that came before the $ sign. The attached file says [email protected] in the shell, indicating the codename to be ducati
its not rooted device
what is the command line to see the codename ?
In build.prop I can see :
ro.build.version codename = REL
ro.product.device=BLU_ADVANCE_5.0_HD
when I open a terminal I see:
[email protected]_ADVANCE_5.0_HD:/$
this is what you want ? So the codename is BLU_ADVANCE_5.0_HD
thanks
You don't even need to do anything or have root access, just open a terminal window and see what text is there, don't you're anything
[email protected]_ADVANCE_5.0_HD:/
this is what I see when I open a terminal windows

Huh, no offense to the creators but that is a pretty dumb name, anyway, you have fastboot and adb access right? I will try and have a check at the twrp image and see if I can verify that it is for the correct device and if you don't know how to flash it, a guide on that as well
---------- Post added at 09:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:26 PM ----------
Update: The website seems genuine. Using an mtk flashing tool you can flash this file (youtube guide) and then using the supersu zip you've downloaded, use the methods I mentioned in my first post.
Good luck!
Yes its the device name. Thanks for your help I appreciate. The root process is often described on many website but there seems to be a doubt about a possible boot loop problem depending on the command executed... so I will follow your guide for sure.
I do not really understand.. You say I have to use MTK Flashing Tool+ADB + TWRP + SuperSU ... ?? I need two more university years ...

Should work with just using the mtk flashing tool to flash twrp then flash SuperSU. If it says something about bootloader being locked, just boot I to fastboot via adb and do fastboot oem unloc.

It's fastboot to unlock bootloader, and I believe you're correct. Though, always make backups.
I managed to flash the blutwrp.img file but it put me into a boot loop. It would boot into Twrp, scroll information about being unable to mount anything and just boot loop.
same for me
