[Q] Battery not charging! - General Questions and Answers

Hey !
I rooted my Xperia S to the newest firmware 6.2.B.1.96 using DooMLord's method. It worked well for some days, but then I got this battery not charging issue. Before my phone used to get full charged overnight, but now it doesn't even charge 50% (full day and night). Sometimes it's stuck at 1%. The service menu shows- battery good.
What to do?
should I go back to the original kernel? or can I do something about it without changing the kernel?
please help!

I would go back to your original and see if the problem still exists. If it doesn't then I would try another method to update the firmware of you phone.

proper battery calibration i would suggest
get these apps first
current widget(its a widget..so yu need to add widget onto your screen)
battery calibration
charge the phone completely..not until the battery shows 100% but until the current widget shows 0/1 mah (it might take hours too..for this to happen even after 100%)
then stop charging and immediately wipe the stats using battery calibration app
then let it discharge completely(i.e. until phone switches off because of low battery)
then charge it completely again and then check the stats

If all fail, try to do "temp root" (instead of perm root), temp root does not modify any system partition nor recovery, you can try the link (or Google it): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161283 (I never tried it), after temp root is done, should be able to remove the battery stat file (I believe it is /data/system/batterystats.bin) and reboot.

[Q] HTC Explorer not charging

Hey guys,
I am new to this and ran into a problem and would appreciate it if i could get some help.
So i recently rooted my phone and flashed CM 9,1 Build 9 and drained my batter to try to recalibrate it as suggested at quite a few locations here. Well, the phone died and when I plugged it in for charging, it sort of woke up (slight white screen ) and then nothing. now it refuses to charge or turn on. I am going to try a new battery tomorrow but for the time being, any suggestions please?
thanks
Edit : I was reading the help section on HTC rezound and apparently it has something to do with CWM not allowing offline charging once the battery is fully dead. I'll try charging the battery through some other means and update you guys if it works. Also there is a way to get it to boot into recovery using adb with some trickle charge but that hasnt worked for me.
Thanks again !
That's from the official cwm recovery, next time use twrp or yannou's, only thing as far as I know is, take from somwhere another battery with some charge and change recovery.
Thanks for your help. I am using yannous recovery and yet ran into this issue. Resolved by charging the battery elsewhere. Worked fine after that. Mods can kindly close the thread.

[Q] Accidentally Removed the ROM

Because of a mistake I did with the build.prop file, I thought of reinstalling the ROM on my P3100. So I charged the tablet for about 2 hours. I then removed the ROM completely out of the system. I was ready to install the ROM, until I realized that I already deleted the ROM package. My internet connection is slow. So I have to wait for like 2 hours before it's done. I'm charging it now again, but would it even reach the battery? I left it at the CWM recovery since I couldn't find a way to turn it off. I'm charging it because I'm not sure what would happen if it ran out of battery. What if charging needed a ROM? That would mean it's bricked.
So here are the questions:
1. Would it still charge even without a ROM?
2. If it won't charge, what should I do?
Please respond as soon as possible. I really need help.
Aha
Dont worry i did exactly the same thing hehe and yeah it will charge dont worry just flash the new rom and u can shutdown the tab by pressing powekey for over 10 Secs I m not sure about it hmm still give it a shot

If you can charge the device without turning it on you can charge it without rom xD. You worry too much.

The battery drains from 15 to 0% in a matter of seconds

Hey guys, I have been getting really good battery life, and I still am. But since a couple of days I have been noticing that the whole battery gets drained in a couple of seconds soon after the battery hits somewhere as low as 14 or 15%. The phone just shuts down and wouldn't turn on before it's plugged in again. Also, I noticed the phone charges back from 0-12 or 13 % in under a minute, which is VERY STRANGE.
What do you think is happening guys? Please help.
PS: Read somewhere here about calibrating battery by charging it for 8 hours, turning off, and all that. I did try that and it did not work for me
Thanks a lot in advance
Anyone?
Have you tried factory reset or stock img flash via fastboot? These are first two steps you should try.

So does that mean there is nothing wrong with the battery? I mean the hardware part? @Lukiqq
I think hw is fine in your case, you should really try revert it to factory state first.

Yes. Turns out it was a problem with the battery calibration. Let your phone run out of charge. Once it turns itself off, plug it in for about 2.5 hours without interruption. Unplug, wait for 5 minutes, re-plug and charge for another 15 minutes. Unplug and turn on the phone. Your phone should be re calibrated

Battery drain really fast!

For the last few weeks my battery got empty in one hour after a full night of charging, the weird thing is that after one hour from the point the battery is empty I can turn on the phone and he will probably will be between 80-90% WITHOUT CHARGING!
BTW even if I can't turn on my phone the TWRP works always
I'm using Tugapower 7.1.1 (the problem started before I switched to this rom)

I tried a clean wipe and changed a rom
Your battery might just dead. My advice is go to full stock cm13s via fastboot. And then flash twrp via fastboot and then install whatever Rom you wanted to use. It is the cleanest way and you should make android backup otherwise your data will be gone. And even if doesnt help i suggest you to replace your battery.
