Simple (or noob) question about updating twrp to latest version - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I have searched everywhere for updating twrp (how to)... But every time I get directed to links showing me how to download and install twrp and not updating it.
I would just like to know (in layman/caveman terms) how to know whether a newer version of twrp is out and how to update my current version to the latest version.
Thanks in advance!

Check the TWRP website, it will show which is the latest version for your device there. (Google it) the instructions are on the page that allows you to install the recovery from fastboot. That's as simple as I can describe it, this is the only real and safe way. There are apps on the Market that can update TWRP, but they can also mess up with flashing the recovery, so I don't recommend that route. Good luck.
Edit : I'm feeling generous here's the link
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/205
Everything you need is on that page.

Updating it is the same as installing it for the first time. If you read the sticky threads we suggested you read last week, you'd know this.

[ROOT] Straight Talk: Samsung Galaxy Centura

It's been successfully rooted with POOT.
It has also been rooted via CWM by Area51 Here for CWM and then Here for Root! I did find some ROM development going on at Area51 as well here. Area51's CWM does not appear to play nice with any phone rooted with Poot however so it's best to install CWM from Area51 first and then use their root method.

The root method used at A51 is out-of-date, and can't be updated. Therefore, you'll continuously receive an update notification and won't be able to stop it.

Not True! All you have to do is just not install the update when it boots you into CWM. This will be fixed when they complete the ROM they're working on. I don't get update reminders after accepting the first one and just not installing it once in recovery mode at the install screen!
My roomate just got this phone, gonna root it for her. Thanks for posting methods.

You might want to wait for Area51 to complete their first ROM for the phone. Currently it has an annoying update that keeps trying to install over the rooted stock OS that will break root if you install it. Of course you can just keep clicking on accept and then selecting NO when you get to the install update screen in CWM like I do, but it's an annoyance.
Is area51 still working on a ROM?

Galaxy Centura 4.X
Is there any roms for the Samsung Galaxy Centura on StraightTalk that is Android version 4.1, 4.2 or above?
Not yet. Something that Samsung broke in the kernel is preventing the ROMs from booting up.

Cool just rooted one of these and uh, any recommendations on a root required app to use the phone as a wifi hotspot free of charge?
I just installed cwm with Odin and I did a backup. I downloaded all the files for root and place it in clockwork backup folder. When I go to cwm and restore backup folder I get a md5 mismatch error. Is their anyway to fix that?

Did you rename the backup? If it has spaces, it will cause that error.

What's the best method of returning this phone back stock is there a flashable firmware or tar file?
Does anyone know what has become of Androidarea51 ??
I've been trying to access that site for some time and it always fails to load.
It has been mentioned in this thread as a source for rooting this model of phone and I've just been given one & would like to root it...
Thanks.
Did anyone get the ROM to boot up? I've been trying but all I get is a black screen

I have exactly the same problem and any help is much appreciated :good:
update
Just noticed that freegee has been updated and it has now TWRP 2.6.3.3 instead of 2.6.3.0, hopefully that is one step closer to freedom  I don't see any loki support yet though.
I don't use your device but using simple logic, I will try to help. Just go to playstore and download the romanager if you want cwm or goomanager if you want twrp, which by far the best recovery. But If your device isn't officially supported, then I,suggest you to search your device development forum for unofficial builds. The devs usually provide installation guides.

[Q] 4.4.3 update Cyanogenmod 11

I woke up this morning like usual grabbing my phone before i headed out the door. When I was watching a youtube video a 4.4.3 system update notification showed up, i assumed it must be the next snapshot from cm but it wasn't the same as a am update it looks like an update that would come from google. I would like to know if i should download and flash or re flash cm or anything would be helpful. the update is 92.2 MB if anyone is wondering. thanks in advance.
You should look at this. You're on a custom Rom and recovery. You may have other things that would cause the update to fail. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47369234

You can't install an OTA from Google while on a custom ROM. It will fail.
Waiting for updates

and after all this I lock my bootloader
so after that I will can to install the updates I will get like version "L"? ?
If you're fully stock then yes.
Please try to avoid using toolkits. Manual process is better.
FYI, can still get updates if rooted.

Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 WiFi - Help with LineageOS 13

Hello, i tried to install the LineageOS 13 on my Tab 2 10.1 WiFi (P5110) but i cant boot it completely (it sucks at boot after installing google apps). I really have no idea what i need for this tab. Maybe some of you friendly users can give me the correct download links for the correct LineageOS ROM, Kernel/etc(if needed and explain how i can flash the kernel?), TWRP and files to root the tablet?
I really hope someone can help me with it, im stucking already with it since 4 hours, i tried everything but nothing works...
Best regards Kevin
Fixed,
the problem was the TWRP. It couldnt flash the SuperSU zip and couldnt flash the ROM.
Use PhilzTouch and now everything works!

There will be an official espressowifi and espresso3g TWRP soon, until that you can use my common TWRP which is fine.
PhilZ Touch reached EOL, can't tell you to use it anymore for new roms and files.
