No Cellular Connectivity After Flashing Stock ROM on Google Play Moto G - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had the Google Play edition of the Moto G running the nightly builds of Cyanogenmod, and all things considered, it was going pretty well. However, after a while I noticed that my GPS seemed unable to get a lock. Later, it seemed unable to connect to mobile data, though all the other cellular functions worked just fine. I assumed this must have something to do with the CM nightlies.
The real trouble came when I tried restoring Motorola's stock firmware. Considering there aren't really any releases of the Google version of the Moto G firmware, I thought that was my best bet. I followed the instructions found here, rebooted, and found I was unable to use any of the cellular features, along with a helpful "No Service" icon in my status area. I have since reinstalled Cyanogenmod, and still have all the same issues.
Here is the About and About > Status pages for your reference:

I have read that similar issues can be caused by having a corrupted IMEI. However, I've pulled the pds partition off the device, mounted it, and found the following files:
Code:
batt_health bt camera factory lost+found pds_formatted_v10 public security whisper wifi wmdrm
and I see an IMEI in the phone status, so I would assume that it is fine.
Is it possible the firmware for the modem is not functioning properly? As a rather low priority, any tips on debugging GPS would be helpful too.
Thanks!

You probably haven't reflashed the correct GPE firmware...On XDA, there are many GPE firmwares most of which are modified to convert xt1032 and xt1033 to GPE by changing the radios and the fsg.bin file...Make sure you choose the original GPE firmware...

I flashed "fsg_gpe.img" from this thread and still get the same issue. Will I have to do a factory reset or flash any other components?

You do get an original GPE firmware somewhere on XDA, flash that...

I've reflashed the stock firmware and I still have the same issue. I should mention that under Status, it says Radio off. There seem to be others having the same issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755011
My status readout is the exact same as the above poster's.

Sorry, I have a lot of tabs open and linked to the wrong thread. I got the stock GPE firmware from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2633272 and then even updated to 4.4.4 using the official OTA update which contained an fsg among other things.
Partitions BOOT, RECOVERY, LOGO, FSG (fsg_gpe.img) and MODEM are same as flashed on GPE devices.

Obviously the flashing process has not been complete. Since there is currently no 4.4.4 GPE image, you could try the 4.4.4 Retail EU image: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54757500&postcount=348
Do all of the fastboot commands manually and report back any errors. In particular, ensure the following commands are included:
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2

I have written(/erased) and rewritten everything several times with fastboot, especially NON-HLOS.bin and modemst(1|2) parts. I begrudgingly did it one more time as you requested, and..... it worked. You seriously have the magic touch or something.
Thank. You.
thankyouthankyouthankyou. Whatever you did. XD
Second question: Even after the above fix, my mobile data didn't work until I manually added an APN with the data on my provider's website. One of the reasons I had started flashing roms in the first place, before I managed to break it, was that one day my mobile data stopped working.
When I set up my phone, the APN's seemed to pop up out of nowhere and everything worked just fine. Why did I manually have to add one now?
Thanks again!

I haven't had any APN issues personally. The app Tweakker is one option that you might find useful:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tweakker&hl=en
EDIT: 4.4.4 GPE Firmware Image now available: (Perhaps a solution to your APN issue)

[GUIDE] ROM 4.4.4 GPE Unbrick phone, failed flash or downgraded, fully working 4.4.4

i have a moto g xt1032 16gb global gsm from amazon, converted to gpe 4.4.2, then after updating the OTA 4.4.4 it failed and bricked the phone, i tried everything, many methods, etc, no luck, until this one worked, but with no signal
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/howto-fix-stuck-boot-downgrading-t2808098
i had another moto g which updated fine to GPE 4.4.4, then i created nandroid backups of that rom, using that, it allows us to restore our moto g bricked to a fully working GPE 4.4.4, with network and everything else working perfect (at least for me), the answer for all problems was using a custom recovery philz 6047 to format the partitions in the GPE format
i don´t know if this works on other moto g, like i said i have XT1032 16GB GLOBAL GSM FROM AMAZON, and xt1032 from CHILE CLARO
STEPS
(i hope you know about cmd, fastboot, adb, custom recovery, push, etc, please don´t be so noob guys XD, investigate and read a little, the most important part are drivers for fastboot and for recovery, there should be no problem aside that
1)download and flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2747181
(this might not be needed but i would prefer if you do it because that is exactly what i did)
this will flash or convert your regular moto g into Gpe 4.4.2, even if it is already bricked
2)download this file and unzip:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/5gaecfmtpja1x6b/unbrick_4.4.4_gpe_xt1032_by_philz_push.7z
2.5)put phone in fastboot mode and plug
3)if you did flash 1) then you should already have philz 6047 on your phone, else flash philz recovery 6047 by your own means, or included on my zip by clicking fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.bat
trust me, you have to use that version of philz, the latest one does not work, i don´t know about other recoveries
4)run recovery and:
mounts and storage:
format cache
format data and data media
wipe data:
clean to install a new rom
5)click on pc:
adb push a.zip sdcard a.zip
and wait like 2 minutes, then the window cmd should disappear
you can unplug now
6)on philz go to:
install zip:
choose zip from sd card
search for a.zip
flash, it should take like 4 minutes
7) reboot and enjoy the google 4 balls of life XD for 2 minutes
8) check if you have signal, i believe, if you flashed 1), then you should have signal, else download images of gpe 4.4.2 for your country or region and cmd this:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot reboot
this part about signal might be tricky, remember there are many countries and various moto g models, mine is xt 1032 global gsm from amazon and working perfect in venezuela using retail GPE images
9) i believe that should be all, next time, we better wait for images of android before flashing like crazy lol

PD
the person who created the partition of gpe, and another different for regular moto g, can go to hell, also for not releasing fastboot images at time
..

yep, thanks to you too, tour cwm was the only thing that could revive my phone, alive with no signal XD
but tell me how you did it?
i used your cwm + latest philz + my 4.4.4 cwm folder and did not work
but using the old philz + cwm zip + commands to restore network = perfect

did you wipe and format everything as i said?
after that your sd card should be writable and readable
push the a.zip to the sd card and that is all
and you must use the old philz, not other recoveries

not really sure
but maybe you have to flash another set of GPE images 4.4.2 from your region, then update
also remember about this part
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot reboot
Yes, did everything exactly as you described. Tried 2 times.

Chinese Fastboot Mode?

Hey everyone!
So, I flashed dalvik and bionic optimizations for the OnePlus One that I found over on the Nexus 5. When I booted back up into Android, all of my apps were missing, and everything kept on crashing. So, I booted into Fastboot Mode, but instead of the Cid logo which is usually presented, this message came up:
己进人fastboot...
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

}
The English translation is roughly "You have entered fastboot...". Everything still worked fine. I flashed my system partition back, and everything was okay. But, strangely, the Chinese fastboot message still appears instead of Cid. I kinda want Cid back...does anyone have any solutions? And yes, my phone is the international model.
i also have the same screen for fastboot. to make it worst i dont have root access but have a chinese version of cwm on the device. donno what to do.

Well you can also try flashing the logo.bin partition from the CM11S image cyngn has at https://cyngn.com/products/oneplusone/, but if your bootloader is already in chinese, you might just want to flash the device back to full stock using the fastboot image.

Yeah, it will fully revert your device to the factory image. Once you are done, if you have the 64gb model, make sure to flash the userdata_64gb.img manually after otherwise your system will only show as 16gb.

So upon further research, it looks like this is the exact same fastboot screen that OPPO devices use!! Somehow, I've gotten the OPPO fastboot mode one my One! And OnePlus denies involvement with OPPO....

[XT1033] GPE to Stock problems

Hi Guys! (sorry about bad english... i hope you understand)
I have followed this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2661022
Now my phone don't boot.
I only have access to Bootloader mode (unlocked).
Questions:
• How can i convert back to stock 4.4.3 ?
• I tried to flash many versions of GPT.BIN or MOTOBOOT.IMG, but all failed. Now i dont have partitions in my device... How to proceed?
• I tried flash stocks like 4.4.3, 4.4.2, 4.3 GPE and not work for me. What should I do?
- When I try to flash stock 4.4.3, the device shows a message: IMAGE IS TOO BIG (in System flash step)
- I ran the command: "fastboot erase all" and "fastboot erase system"
- Now I can not flash the system partition and can not flash the motoboot.img.
When i try to flash motoboot, shows me a message on phone: "VERSION DOWNGRADE FOR TZ"
Please, can someone help me?

Why do you play with your phone, if you don't know how to fix it?
Help comes only if you can help yourself in first place.
Quick tip, you don't need to flash gpt nor motoboot. There is one more thing that will actually make your phone working, but you need to learn your lesson.
Good luck.

It means you're trying to flash a single system image instead of one broken in chunks (3) and since "fastboot flash system" is limited to 256 MB, you get this error, because your image is larger than 256MB.

You'll need a Windows PC, Nexus Root Toolkit software (WugFresh), and Flashify app (or similar)
Actually, the NRT software is not needed, but it makes the process stupidly easy. You can also do this by fastboot over ADB
Be sure to perform a full nandroid backup, just in case, though you shouldn't need it.
And absolutely backup your custom recovery using Flashify (or whatever you use)
Factory images
Forget about the OTA update and go to the Google Developers site for the factory images you want
Download the file to your PC, then unzip it and any zipped files contained within it (it's like one of those Russian dolls)
Now find the .img files for "boot," "bootloader." "radio," and "system." Move them into a new folder that you can easily find.
There are other image files, but you don't want those, because they'll over-write your data.
Flashing using Nexus Root Toolkit
Open NRT and be sure that you select your CURRENT model and build in the upper left-hand corner.
Under Advanced Utilities, click Launch
Under Fastboot Flash, click Boot [Kernel], then browse for you boot.img file and click Open.
Let NRT do the rest.
Repeat this Fastboot Flash process for Bootloader, Radio, and System in that order.
After you flash the system image, your Nexus will reboot and complete the update.
Re-root
In the process, you've lost root so reboot your phone back into bootloader
In the NRT main menu, change your model and build in the upper left-hand corner to reflect 5.0.1
The software will need to restart and update.
Now, under the Root heading, click Root
When your phone reboots, your superuser will request to be updated. Allow it, and reboot.
Now open Flashify, flash your custom recovery, and reboot.
You're done!

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh Learn how to use adb and fastboot yourself and teach this to inexperienced users.
Incredibly complex solutions.......!
Easier just return to stock flash via OTA and reroot... I think this is the easiest method (despite for me is still a little bit ****ty) to go with Android latest updates
Don't like the Google Dev imaging and flashing option
I dont know if this ota zip will work but you can try?, assuming you dont want to lose your data by going with googles images

How is that the easiest solution?
Flash stock, then ota? Why not just flash 5.0.1 stock and NOT ota?

I believe that is what he meant, just picked the wrong words. He meant 5.0.1 image when he used the term OTA.

Its hard on a forum where punctuation isn't used often. I envisage that there should be a comma between "stock" and "flash". True, it could also be a full stop missing.
That said, I've seen many threads where people just say flash stock then ota so I've assumed this is the same..

With the NRT you just go back flashing to stock bootloader and then you can upgrade via OTA no-pain. After that you can reinstall back twrp (for example) and re-root device. No downloads required from external sources.
If you have to flash you have to go and pick the img and after that re-root. For me is a pain looking for the flash img every version! And worst part having to reboot for each image... boot, radio, system...
But I suppose it is a matter of preferences.

PD: BTW 5.0.1 only have boot and system for flashing?
Still though... Toolkits are bad. Use them at your peril and if you screw up, we're not wasting our time teaching the basics to fix it, that you would know if you did it properly the first time.
And reboot each time? What???
...and looking for image every time? Same place every time mate
You shan't need a toolkit. For one, Google themselves have put instructions on how to flash a factory image directly. And again, you shan't use toolkits.
And you DO NOT reboot for every image. You flash all of them at once, then you reboot.
Anyway this thread has degenerated to, plain and simply, diarrhea.

Thanks a lot. Very informative.
Do I need to have an unlocked bootloader for that?
I have enough time not to use rsd lite, I feel more secure with the command method

I've been using rsdlite since non-smartphone era (my first moto was the c390) and it had saved my bricked phones countless time.
gbt.bin file failed

gpt.bin usually related to partition table and your phone probably has an updated partition table newer than the one in the stock rom. If possible, get the latest stock rom, I heard that x play has received stock Nougat update probably you could flash that

7.1.1 Out Now!!
Look here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...o-x-play-india-brazil-official-final-t3691100
I know this is an old thread but I am trying to flash my 1926-7 Moto G4 Plus Retail Latin version.
I am able to reboot it using RSD Lite and then the phone goes into fastboot mode:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (secure)
OEM_Locked
Console: Null
TRansfermode : USB connected
I must be missing a step, I also noticed that the RSD Lite Vanishes and yet in the task manager it still shows SDL.exe running for a while then vanishes.
But in the program it changes state:
I'm using the latest Version of RSD
Thanks in advance.
