I have created a post in the transformerforums forum on this issue here:
http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/asus-transformer-tf101-roms/44647-unable-unzip-flash-katkiss-4-4-4-a.html
I am able to flash my tablet back to stock and root as well as install custom recovery using Easy Flash, but can't flash KK or a newer version of TWRP. I have run KK before (4.3 I think). Keep getting message that I'm unable to open the zip file.

Well, I was, but with a little help I have now successfully updated twrp to current version. Thanks SidneyK.
However, I am still unable to flash KK 4.4.4-033. I have also tried flashing older versions of KK (i.e., 4.3) with same result. Not sure what to do from here.
Update: Successfully installed KK 4.4.4 using the side loader feature of TWRP. Everything is now right with the world

- Android 4.2.2. / CM10.1 (10.1-20130621-nightly-tf300t)
- WW_epad-10.4.2.9-20120809 (= 4.1 bootloader version)
- TWRP 2.6 recovery (for bootloader v4.1)
My aim is to update to CM10.2, therefore I need a bootloader version 4.2. I downloaded the latest firmware from the asus-website (TF300T-WW_epad-10_6_1_27_5-UpdateLauncher.zip) and put it on /sdcard.
But I'm in doubt:
- Is the asus firmwire described above the best way to upgrade my bootloader? And can I use TWRP to install this zip?
- If so, do I need to change the TWRP version to 2.6 ready for -4.2 (teamw.in/project/twrp2/97) not at all, before or after I installed the new bootloader?
I know bootloader/recovery issues can easily brick a TF300, so to be sure I ask. Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I'd rather be safe than sorry when upgrading bootloaders. So I would always suggest using the cable connection because it is less likely to fail. You probably could get away without using it to flash stock, but you wouldn't be able to flash TWRP without fastboot, and then couldn't flash a custom ROM. But everything feels safer once you have Nvflash backups.

I was in the same situation as you not so long ago. Was on 4.1.1 with TWRP 2.6.3.0 JB installed. Asked myself these questions repeatedly. I updated via fastboot to the staging partition using the blob within the latested ASUS firmware zip file. The blob file contains, bootloader, recovery, system and boot. This means your are essentially returning to stock everything upon flashing. This was a huge sigh of relief as I didn't want to brick my device because of the same concerns you have. So I flashed via fastboot to 10.6.2.10 then flashed to TWRP 2.5.0 4.2 as 2.6.3.0 didn't work for me for some reason. I heard a number of people say that 2.6.3.0 4.2 is buggy and suggested to stay with 2.5.0 in which I would recommend from experience. Then flash your custom firmware.
Pretty lost by now. I am still (sick of it) on an unlocked Asus stock 4.2.1 with TWRP 2.5. My intention is to change the ROM but was considering CM 11 which I understand does require TWRP 2.6.X at least. I was hoping for a fix for installing navflash on post JB but I believe does not possible so anything that means touching the bootloader makes me very concern.
I was wondering:
- Can I flash TWRP 2.6 (4.2 img file i beleive) directly from my already installes TWRP 2.5 bootloader and then install CM 11? or do I need fastboot process again?
- Is CM 11 worth on the TF300? I just need some stability and reasonable speed after having so many problems with the stock rom.
Thanks.

Yes, CM11 requires TWRP 2.6.3.1.
You can install NvFlash on a JellyBean Bootloader, link and guide is in my signature.
If you bootloader is above 10.6.1.8, you can just flash the TWRP 2.6.3.1 and then reboot and then flash CM11 + gapps.
I think it is super smooth with the OC Kernel.
Ok, this is weird, a while ago i didnt had any problems installing any kind of custom rom, used CWM while wiping everything... eveything was OK, ROM worked OK, etc... But one time i installed a ROM (Slimkat) and i lost signal, tried to use my recovery of stock android but it didnt work, so i tried a lot of things untill i got bootlop without being able to install anything since some files were missing, bad luck
After that, i just reflash stock 4.3 and upgrade from there 4.4.2, everything fine again... except that i cant install any kind of ROM, every ROM says "installation succesful" but everyone is stuck into bootloop.
While i havent tried ALL ROMS i have tried the same ones i was using (Nexus G+, LiquidSmooth and CM11), so i guess this problem is coming from my device.
On a side note, i tried to factory reset, but no luck... it shows the Android working but it inmediately turns the screen off, and then it shows it again and then off again... in an infinite loop
Same problem!
Bump.
I just got my Moto G yesterday (European XT1032), updated to 4.4.2, unlocked bootloader, rooted with superboot and flashed Philz Touch CWM.
Seems I have done everything by the book, wipes included, but no luck. I tried Slimkat, Paranoid and Codename Lungo (latest builds as of 3/12).

Hmmm... Pay attention to which version of Bootloader you are using.
You might want to try both 4.3 and 4.4 to see which one would work.
Extract the motoboot.img from the stock .zip image for your phone, then flash with mflashboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
Good luck!

Thanks. I'll give that a try. Is there a way to check bootloader version on the phone? If that doesn't work out I'll start from scratch and report back in this thread..

Hmmm.. I see there is a version number on mine, 41.05 dated 2013-12-06, but I'm not sure if that's the version or not.
And yeah... if changing the bootloader doesn't help, you probably would have to restore from the stock image and start over..
Got root and custom roms working after I 1.) downgraded to 4.3 and 2.) flash TWRP (instead of CWM).
So I'm not sure what the problem was. Besides the two main rooting methods (superboot and custom recovery), there are some other methods described on the forum specifically for people who already did a international variant OTA to 4.4.2. and one that is absolete (here) but apparently works for some when the two main methods fail.
However I'm still not sure if this solved everything. I am not sure if I can flash Cyanogenmod (which is 4.4.2) over a 4.3 firmware. Maybe I need to manually flash a 4.4.2 radio or something... Gonna check that out next...
EDIT: No need to downgrade. Not sure how it works but two main root methods (superboot and custom recovery) didn't work for me. Somehow I got stuck in boot animation. Just installed TWRP instead of CWM after Kitkat firmware (EU Retail) and rooted (/installed Super Su) from there. Everything works fine now.
I rooted my OnePlus with TWRP recovery sometime back and current image is CM11. I need to upgrade it to CM12 however all the manuals I found require stock recovery to upgrade from CM11 to CM12
I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade to CM12 with TWRP recovery? If not, how I can get stock recovery restored?
Also, if I manage to upgrade to CM12, is there a possibility for OTA updates in future?
Dud download lollipop bootanimation and flash through TWRP

1. Download the flashable CM12s zip file.
2. Store it under the root directory.
3. Go to TWRP recovery (Please make sure you use the latest version 2.8.6.0).
4. Do factory reset (wipe dalvic cache and other memory)
5. Flash the CM12 zip.
6. Reboot and enjoy....
Also, you will get OTA if you manually flash the CM12s.

You don't need stock recovery, just flash with TWRP.

Thanks for your help. Was able to flash CM12 successfully.
But facing another issue now - As soon as phone booted with CM12, it downloaded OTA system update. When I try to install the update, phone reboots in twrp recovery and update doesn't complete. Tried numerous times (with and without 'update CM recovery' toggle) but with same result.

Good to hear that.... MD5 error occurs when the downloaded file is corrupted.
Hi All,
Background:
Installed TWRP recovery to downgrade to KitKat from Android ver 5.0.2 / COS 12.0 YNg1TAS17L
( I guess the changes in lollipop made me to do so).
But after installing TWRP, for some reason or other I did nothing and now the issue is the OTA are not getting installed. From other similar thread I know that we can download the OTA zip and install through TWRP and I am not looking to get into that...as I am giving this device to my family.
Help Required:
1) Is there a way to uninstall TWRP and go back to stock recovery without losing any data?
( Is it as simple as flashing recovery image from the Stock ROM?)
2) Using the OnePlus tool kit can we flash the stock ROM which will also restore the stock recovery?
(If so is it possible to flash the latest ROM 5.1.1 or CM12.1)
I just need guidance here with steps on what will be the best and safe approach without frying up my device.
Please suggest

Numerous other threads on the same subject... I don't understand why you are not ready to flash the OTA through TWRP but you are through stock recovery... It's the same thing... Don't use toolkit, they are the ones, in 99% of the cases, that "fry" your phone... As soon as TWRP is installed no OTA will automatically, you will have to flash them manually.
Hi Currently I am having Honor 4c with Kitkat 4.4.2 (V100R001C636B160) version I wanted to Upgrade my android version to Marshmallow(CHM-U01C432B560) or any other custom ROM. I have unlocked my device bootloader and installed CWM recovery following the guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-4c/development/honor-4c-root-cwm-recovery-inshaalmirza-t3177770 was able to install CWM but I wanted to install TWRP and followed the guide by @HassanMirza01 but wasnt success to install TWRP , if I am trying to flash Marshmallow ROM using CWM or by flashing IMG files using ADB I am not able to do it. Every Time I try to flash a ROM from CWM I am getting error and while flashing IMG files using ADB the screen is being struck at boot logo. Can anyone guide me how to replace CWM with TWRP so that I can Install Marshmallow (every time while I am trying to flash TWRP it is being struck at boot logo and had to flash stock ROM to recover the phone) and install marshmallow.
Note: Initially I upgraded to Lollipop as the version was not stable and Buggy I reverted to stock version using the official guide.

You can try this TWRP https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-4c/development/recovery-twrp-3-0-0-0-huawei-honor-4c-t3349495 or some version of TWRP for honor 4x or p8lite. And then you can try to flash stock firmare using this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-4x/how-to/install-emui-4-1-4x-4c-g-play-g-play-t3515702. You might need to be in lollipop or marshmallow to use it.

What error did fastboot gave you when you tried to flash TWRP?
No error given but after flashing twrp device is struck at boot screen and can't move to next screen cwm flashing works fine .
Is it mandatory to have lollipop or marshmallow update to flash twrp?

I don't know how things really work or why they need stuff to work. But in TWRP thread it says for android 5.1.1 - 6.0. So I guess it's important to have some of those versions.
Is there any other way to flash lollipop or marshmallow from cwm? I even extracted update.app and flashed recovery, system , boot images individually but it also doesn't work struck at boot screen. Can I fully wipe system files from phone and re-flash lollipop or marshmallow update. Similar to full format of a PC.

No idea will that work, but one thing that comes to mind is to flash those images you did and then put UPDATE.APP in your sd card in folder named dload and do force upgrade ( power + vol up + vol down ).

Tried that too but no success. I think the problem occurred while downgrading to kitkat from lollipop maybe it corrupted the boot system. Even that is the case while flashing and wiping cache so many times it might have showed error in any of the instances but it didn't. Can't find out what actually preventing system to update.
