It seems that the flash on my OPO is no longer working, even when turned on.
Anyone else have this problem? How did you sort it?
Edit: The torch works fine... just the camera flash that doesn't...
What camera app are you using?
ROM? Kernel?

I'm on stock everything.
The camera should work then, are you sure your auto flash is not on disabled flash?
You're using the stock OPO camera and not Google Camera right?

Actually I've just deleted all app data and it seems to work now.

After installing Jishnu's Camera Mod, the opposite effect that was intended happened on my n5 and now the camera is almost useless. it won't focus on anything and is basically unusable. I have tried installing new roms, i just installed a Cyanogenmod nightly by flashing the zip through CWM Recovery but it still hasn't fixed the problem. Someone please help me!!! :S
Get in touch with jishnu by PM and ask for an undue zip. Failing that use a root file Explorer to wipe the files and replace with the right ones. It's only software. I'd uninstall the camera and get it from the play store and move it to a system app
Sent by mobile telephone.
@Neardood1
Go to jishnu camera mod thread, in the op there is a restore back to stock camera flashable zip for 4.4 and 4.4.2, download the appropriate zip and flash it through recovery.
The mod is only for stock, cataclysm and purity ROMs.
I would also recommend making/or having a nandroid backup before flashing any mods or changing system apps on your device, in the event that something should go wrong, restore your nandroid backup and your good as new.
that's the first thing I did and it didn't work. I just installed Cyanogen with the PC app and still its useless. I'm running out of ideas here That mod must have changed something deep in the software for it to f*** it up this much

Hmmm. Yeah something's not right.... I would try to contact jishnu and see what he has to say.
Otherwise you might have to flash back the stock image and start over from scratch.
today isnt a good day
updated to franco r37, Jishnu's Camera fc nonstop
flashed the restore zip -> fc
flashed gapps photosphere zips -> fc
very strange
maybe tomorrow it will working again
Are you performing a full wipe before installing another ROM. There is no way this is a software issue if you are doing this correctly because a new ROM would over write the files that caused the camera issue. Either that or now you have a hardware issue.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
If you really think it's the app, do a complete restore to stock using fastboot adb and the factory image.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#hammerheadkot49h
I've been using the camera mod without problems until today.. FC for me too. Nothing changed that I'm aware of. Reflash didn't help.
@OP
Do you have any other camera apps installed and they also don't work ?
For me only Jishnu's Camera has stopped working, the LG Camera Mod, SnapCam, ProCapture etc. are still working like before
i miss the Jishnu's Cam :crying:
regards
He's posted a new update in the camera thread and now mine is working again. Give it a try.
not for me :crying:
wiped dalvik & cache partition, flashed the Jishnu's Cam v1.5 but still fc
well its seems that the play store/service update kills the cam for me
restored a backup, cam works perfect, updated to the 1.5 version, works perfect
after a while lbe security asked me if the playstore/services should be updated -> allowed and baamm cam killed
restored the same backup again and rejected the update for playstore/services and cam still works
rly strange scenario

Yeah now the camera app will just randomly stop working, so will other apps like snapchat; they all say they can't connect to the camera. I'm starting to think its a hardware fault but that doesn't explain why it stopped working as soon as I installed this mod
How was the end of this story?

Hello guys
Please excuse me if this has already been posted before!
I've heard things about the camera not working in 4.4.4. Mine doesn't as well - only in safe mode. No matter what. Then I tried to pinpoint a 3rd party app that could've blocked the camera, both the back and the front (mostly front), but the issue keeps getting on top. I just rooted my N5 and installed PA, and the issue is still on! I haven't even installed the G-apps yet.
Any ideas?
Thank you so much!
install the gapps, but do not install/restore your other apps yet! try to see if the cam works. if so, install your apps after. to me it sounds as an app is causing you issues. btw, have you tried clearing the camera apps data? and by not working, what error do you get?
Install a different kernel PA uses stock Google kernel

what does the stock kernel have to do with the camera not working??? the right answer is absolutely nothing.
Because the kernel connects the hardware to the software and the kernel has all the drivers in it

so, all those unrooted nexus 5, running stock kernels, all have non working cameras? lol!
Well do you have any other reason maybe it is just an isolated incident with his specific device with the kernel maybe it's not functioning properly

A kernel has nothing to do with the camera, or do you have proof that it does?
Well if the kernel has nothing going to do with the camera what does?

well, the probability that its something else besides the kernel is off the charts. most likely it is an app, or corrupt data. actually, in my 6 years with android, not once have i seen a camera issue caused by the stock kernel. now a custom kernel can have issues with the cam, but thats usually because something was forgotten to be added. oh, and a rom can cause camera issue, which is the #2 spot of where his issue might come from. many times i have seen custom roms forget to add in all the needed camera libs.

the libs for the camera, which comes from the rom, which people forget to add to their roms often enough.
you have not right camera blobs
that very well could be as well..

Thanks for your reply! I'll try this right away. Is there any way I can install the Google Play market without having the Gapps? Otherwise I'll try to go for the minor Gapps ibcluding the most important ones - if of course it happens to work without it.
Clearing data causes it to say that it cannot connect to the camera!
Bad news. Clean PA Install - no Gapps and the problem is still on my agenda!
Any other suggestions? It cannot be hardware; why else would it work in safe mode?
Hey!
I'm on cyanogenmod, already tried many camera apps and the only one I got working was snapchat
Does anyone else had/have this problem or know how to fix it without wiping the device?
Thanks for your time.

happened to me once, reboot helped.. but make sure, you are on Dalvik runtime (options > developer settings)
I'm already on dalvik and reboots do nothing
A note: the camera doesn't force close, it's just the preview that freezes when I try to take a picture, if switch to video (btw video recording works fine) and back to camera i can see the live preview again. Sadly, it will definitely freeze again if I try to take another picture.

Camera on my One Plus is not working from today. When i open the app it either force closes or says cannot connect to camera. So, I restarted the mobile, no change. Reset, no change. Instead, camera app is now missing, but shows in apps inside setting. Tried different custom roms but camera app is missing. Installed different camera apps but non worked.
I havent dropped my mobile or done anything physical to mobile.
Flashlight is also not working...
Please suggest me if any solutions... thanks

If you have bootloader unclocked and custom recovery like twrp in place, then the option with you is to reflash the "fasboot images" of the desired CM version(11S or 12) and then you can revert to the Custom ROM you want and flash full package of GApps version.
thanks for the help. but i figure out the problem.. the camera was not attached properly and i attached it and all is fine now.

i just watched the tutorial of disassembly in youtube and got the problem solve by re connecting the connection of camera.
Hi there,
I got a problem with my Nexus 5 32GB (D821). Frist the rear cam failured, now the frontcam failured.
I tried another rear cam modul, doesnt work.
I tested the cam modul with another nexus - it works. I tried the cam modul of the first one - it works.
So the cam modules are fine.
I tried a lot of apps, none of them worked. I've tried another custom rom - nothing changed.
Of course I deleted the cache and stoped the app.
Got anybody an idea whats wrong with my Nexus?
Have you wiped and flashed the latest stock ROM? If the camera still doesn't work, it may be a failed motherboard.

Hi audit13 thank you for your response..
Yes, I flashed the last stock... but... there is no google camera app installed... and I can't find it in the Playstore...
Other App like OpenCamera can't connecting to the cameras..
There's no camera app after flashing the stock Google ROM? Strange because I recall that every Google ROM I flashed via fastboot had a camera app.

I whipped again... you're right. The google cam app is already installed but the icon is missing and I can't start the cam.
Other apps doesn't work.
But after I try the spare part again the front cam is working again..
Maybe there is a bad connection on there motherboard? Try cleaning the connection with pure isopropyl alcohol?

I did... but nothing has changed... but now I can try to start the google cam app... but it ends with the old failure...
Sounds like a motherboard replacement may be required.
