I was wondering if people have proof that Clean Master is making your device cleaner and faster?
Is it not an app that just steal personal data or is it really working.
I have rooted and rommed devices so I install scripts to make my devices faster.
Are there other people that are using this?

Some people swear by Clean Master....other people swear at it . It certainly removes things but whether or not this improves your device performance probably depends a lot on your device and how you use it.
The introduction of CM Security certainly changed the way a lot of people view Clean Master, because now Clean Master asks you to install CM Security and vice versa...which is kind of spammy. I know that they collect data off the devices but they claim that it is kept private and never sold to 3rd parties...
I don't feel that I need the Clean Master regularly and therefore I install it from time to time. It's a convenient tool for applications backup, checking the system on viruses and removing remains of uninstalled apps. It could release some ram too, but that effect is temporally and not really needed considering the way the Android functions.

I agree, but the virus stuff is totally fake .
They are just scanning their blacklist of apps that don't suite with their company.
Some apps that are high known banned apps that we can recognize self without scanners.
Apps that offering a function to free up ram memory are also not essential because since 4.0+ is that possible in Android built in system.
( some devices with earlier android versions also )
The only two functions that let me consider installing the app are:

How true. Even viruses are not much a concern since they are rare on Android and other vulnerabilities such exploits and security flaws are not covered by antivirus tools. Fortunately they are remedied by Google from time to time. Removing junk files and apps backup is what the Clean Master is good at.

Totally agree. It would be nice to have it. Perhaps proxy could be replaced with enough capable and fast VPN though.:good:

I know because if not open your eyes enough your all important files can be deleted live nandroid backup and even videos I DON'T understand why deleting videos that's really crappy app :banghead:

I like the user interface of clean master really much
I like Clean Master and keep it on my Device all the time. It's a very good android tool and very essential (did I go a little overboard on that? xD)

I've tried Clean Master, and have seen no noticeable difference.
Everything this is the same, I honestly think the only good ram cleaning application is the old school "CacheMate"

I have been using cleanmaster for a while. Perfect at cleaning hidden junk but it affects my ram negatively. It is such a memory hog. As for the game booster it cleans up the ram but doesn't maintain it... Background apps autostart and ram is full again. Just useless

I simply have a couple questions I'd like to get advice on. Rom Toolbox and Titanium Backup.
I already got Titanium but I'm inquiring whether an app like Rom Toolbox is useful.
I am rooted but running the stock Rom. I'd like to keep it simple and get used to learning about being rooted before getting into flashing.
Any other root apps from the Play store I should load? I'd prefer to avoid useless apps. Searching the Internet doesn't always yield the results I'm looking for. Everyone has been so helpful here I'm looking for good friendly advice.

Rom toolbox is not useful for us for the most part... Good root apps are : set CPU or any of.the CPU apps. titanium . CPU spy.. Erm I can't think of the others that I use....there are some fun ones like WiFi kill but.keep away from Rom toolbox
Be careful. Most root apps are harmless but there are a few that can brick your phone. Stay away from stuff like Rom Manager and Rom Toolbox. Apps that let you take shortcuts with flashing are likely to put you in a boot loop if they don't brick you. I'm not aware of any that work with this phone beyond Goo Manager.

AdAway is brilliant, get's rid of ads. I'm all for app developers getting their dues, but I struggle to avoid clicking the ads acidentally with my oafish fingers. I buy the pro versions of the really useful apps.
Droidwall is great, it let's you set which apps can use which network interfaces to get the internet (if at all). You can stop streaming video apps from using all of your data plan by setting them to only use wifi.

Can anyone recommend an app that will search my tablet for unused files and folders and delete them? I'm currently using SDMaid but it's not very effective.
After noticing I was running low on room internally I used Storage Analyzer to find what the heck was taking up so much room. As it turns out a lot of installing/uninstalling games and a bunch of ROM flashing and upgrading has left a lot of kruft on my system. Manually going through and deleting stuff yielded an extra 3 gig of internal space without having to remove a single app.
I'm pretty sure there's a lot more crap buried on this tablet. Has anyone got a recommendation on something a little more powerful than a cache cleaner?
I wish I knew, I would like to know as well.

Yeah, that actually is annoying (plus, updates for these system apps bite into the 12GB or so of internal storage)- so to the OP, I agree- uninstall all updates to the system apps you don't use, then freeze away!
SGS3 I9300 forum has a safe to remove thread in Themes and Apps .
Thats what i use to remove/ kill/ freeze or find out what an apk does .
Basics apply to most Samsung stuff and certainly a lot of the apps in system/ apps on the note 10.1 are listed .

Hey folks. I wanted to take a quick minute and fill you in on the incredible battery life of my s4.
EDIT: Completely revamped methods to achieve desired results
Apps you will need:
Greenify (Paid)
Tasker (Paid)
Both can be found in the Play Store.
I do not have stats or screens at this time, due to flashing roms, nandroid dumps, etc... so after things settle down I will retest and post my screenshots.
Here are the basics:
#1 Download and install both apps above. Yes, they are not free, but are well worth it, restart after installing Tasker
#2 Open up Greenify (Allow Root access), and select all the apps you wish to allow it to "Hibernate", then hit the ZZzzz button to hibernate them all, to make sure they actually get hibernated.
#3 While still in Greenify, hit your menu button to get into the settings (this is where the paid version comes in handy...), and select 'Enable Experimental Features'. This will allow you to set the app to "Wake Up" tasks and apps for notifications. If you don't need this, then don't worry about it.
#4 Now here's where the fun begins! Open up Tasker (Allow Root access), and import the profiles I have attached. (explanation of what they do below...). Just Unzip it, and Import the profile in the Profile Tab
This makes me a sad panda! Stock NB1 has the crappiest battery life I've seen. I can't use Safestrap because my device has to be encrypted.
I'm on the rooted stock NB1 with SS and was curious how to remove the AT&T bloatware...how would one go about that? Also, can you get rid of the Samsung bloatware too?

Have you tried encrypting it with a custom NB1 rom?
I was in a discussion yesterday about that, and really did not know what the answer was, only because I don't need to do that with my daily driver If I had a spare S4, I would try it out though.
Stock definately has crappy battery life, but there are still things you can use without root that will help. Snapdragon (the processor company for the S4), put out BatteryGuru which from what I've read works pretty well after the 2 day learning period.
You can also go through your settings -> applications and turn off alot of stuff, especially notifications as those tend to put a drain on these.
I just upgraded my device to the latest Deadly Venom, so these numbers I initially posted may change... but somehow I doubt it

I've already gone through and turned off as much as I can but unfortunately there's still a lot of bloatware that cannot be disabled. The 4.4.2 root method mentioned in another thread talks about the same downgrade method but ultimately Safestrap has to be used.
I also toggle my data every chance I get and have a wakelock/battery app running. My S1 and S2 were so easy to mod but ever since the decision was made to lock the boot loader on the S4, things have gone to crap for this phone.

Get Titanium Backup. Go through and freeze the apps. Rom Im on didnt have them so Im not real sure what their real names are...
Onve you freeze them... make sure yur device still works to your liking... then backup the frozen apps and uninstall them. TiBu is in the Play Store.

Try Interactive. It's close to ondemand, but I believe it's a little more responsive to activity.
I'll post some more screen shots after a few days... I just updated my rom, and am about to install another as a test

So I got tired of my phone being weighted down. With unnecessary apk's. So I started to delete some. Then did some more google research. And this is what I found. Works wonders.

Use ACR 2.6 everything is gone. I run it daily with only blinkfeed and h/k audio flashed. Yesterday when I woke up i was at 52% battery on 27 hrs... Doesnt get much better than that for me. Smooth and quick.
Shortly after I flashed faux123 kernel and am trying to see if I can improve on this even more.
As for the sense cleaner I use that zip on almost every rom I have tried so far. It removes pretty much all of the garbage. And in the post he states that it breaks motion launch gestures, I have found that if you go into setting disable and re-enable them and reboot they work just fine.
All do respect. I have ran every ROM available for this phone. And Scott's Roms still rock them all. I even got more out of it once a did a major over drive clean and a few tweaks. This phone is rock solid. With no problems at all. I just have to take the IMG of files and just turn them into a ROM.

No problem. If you want to maximize battery , I would recommend going into the running apps under settings to see which 3rd party apps are running.
If you see one, you would want to open it and see if it has a notifications setting or refresh timers. Facebook for example is one that I know has one.

So what you're saying is, if he removed apps that had been running 24/7, that would would have no effect on battery or performance... Really...so why does anyone strip out any of the VZW or HTC apps at all? And what exactly do you think the term bloatware means?
99% of what he removed may not have had any effect, but that doesn't mean that removing one or two specific apps didn't have a positive effect on battery and/or performance.

I would have to disagree with you on this. Some apps rape your battery through wake locks.
But in the interest as to what this topic was started on I would agree with you.

So what you're saying is, if he removed apps that had been running 24/7, that would would have no effect on battery or performance... Really...so why does anyone strip out any of the VZW or HTC apps at all? And what exactly do you think the term bloatware means?
99% of what he removed may not have had any effect, but that doesn't mean that removing one or two specific apps didn't have a positive effect on battery and/or performance.

Removing apps that do not run in the background do NOT affect battery. Bloatware is subjective as one person's "bloatware" is a crucial app for another person. Removing dormant apps such as VZW ringtones or navigator will not net any gain. Some people like to remove these apps to "free up space".
What apps do you consider bloatware? For me, 3rd party apps such as SMS and launchers are a waste of space, hence I consider them "bloatware".
I do not make assumptions without knowing what I'm talking about as I conduct my own tests and obtain results instead of reading what opinions others may have. This is like back in the days when there was so much hype with build prop edits and how they worked wonders....only to be debunked by numerous testers including myself.
If you read my previous post, it answers your latter paragraph. My statements may be paradigm shifts for some, but I won't be saying all of this without proper reasoning.

True. However, some of the apps listed on the link in the OP do run in the background. Just because something isn't listed as a running app in Settings\Apps\wherever doesn't mean associated service isn't running. When you have Blinkfeed running for instance, it doesn't show all of the million associated Blinkfeed content apps.

Are you referring to the cached apps? Do you use xposed? How many modules do you use? Do you consider those draining battery since they are running?

I wanted to chime in here...
To both people you both have points...
But if an app is running, yes, it decreases battery by taking away precious CPU cycles and wasting RAM. That is fact. This is undeniable fact.
As stated, one "man's bloat" is another mans "must have" but I can tell you this much... Not many people I know, on a custom ROM, use VZW Tones...
I consider anything Verizon puts in the ROM bloat. Any Non Sense (get it?) app is also bloat to me (Lookin' at you Amazon). And yes, most of these apps do consume system resources weather being used or not. Removing them can be beneficial depending on what you are trying to achieve.
The hard part about guides on removing things, and ROMS (like mine) is achieving a very fine balance between user needs and "bloat". Each person will have a difference of opinion. This is also fact.
Just my two cents...

True, but I never said they did. In fact, I questioned your comment about how removing any apps would said no effect on your device, by asking "if he removed apps that had been running 24/7, that would would have no effect on battery or performance". That's the opposite of what you said.

True, however, "Removing apps and freeing ram has zero effect on benchmarks or battery." is false. Blatantly, unarguably false.
As far as bloatware, it's generally considered to be apps that run on a frequent or constant basis, and that have a negative effect on the system. Though some people consider it to be anything at all on their device which they have no personal use for. Whatever, that's their decision. For instance, most (if not all) of the crap Verizon installs on their devices (not ringtones, obviously) is known to have a negative impact on device performance. However, from your statement, removing those apps would do nothing for performance or battery life. When we've seen time and time again that it DOES have a positive performance.

Apps that are open and then "minimized" are left paused and is cached. This is how ram is utilized efficiently. This helps so that your phone doesn't need to start up the app service every time you open it, hence saving battery. Imagine if you used a "Task manager" every time you exited an app. You generally want to use up your ram caching all the apps you normally use so your phone doesn't have to open a new app every other time.
Notice how when you first open an app, it takes a second to open it. Now when you hit the home and open it again, it opens much faster. This is something you can do to visually see what I am talking about.
My first statement was that you don't "speed" up a device or save battery by removing apps, you would need to configure the app's refresh timer or notification center.
If you apply the broad "apps slow down and kill your battery" principle, then are these custom roms with all these features and xposed modules slower than a "debloated" stock rom?

Dude, just because it's not active on the screen doesn't necessarily mean it's not still actively running. That's the point Scrosler and myself were trying to make. Are you paying attention at all? Just because it's not active on the screen, or listed in Running Apps doesn't mean something isn't running. There were dozens of HTC apps, and probably one dozen Verizon apps included in stock. Maybe two dozen of them can, and do, run in the background without being on the screen or showing in Running Apps.
And stop explaining how things are cached, we get it, we got it before you explained it.
