[Q] Are backups interchangable among recoveries? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are backups unique to the system used?
If I create a backup with PhilZ CWM can I install it with TWRP backup?
In other words, if I switch to TWRP do I need to make new backups or can I rely on those done with CWM?

I don't think twrp can restore a Philz backup, but Philz can restore a twrp backup. I've never tried it before, but the option is there.

[Q] Bootloop into Recovery.

TWRP Nandroid Backup not in Restore section in Recovery

I do not see me nandroid backups in TWRP Recovery. I do however see it in my files under TWRP/Backup/Beans28.
Any ideas?

How to nandroid backup?

How to nandroid tab 21
Hello
Is there a way to create a nandroid backup , but that will also backup stock recovery?
or is there a way to backup only stock recovery somehow?
Thanks
And why would you backup stock recovery? You create a nandroid backup, and then u use recovery to restore your system from that backup. You need recovery on your device, if it's not there, you won't revover anything. That means that you couldn't recover recovery without having recovery, so making s backup of recovery is pointless.
Anyway, if something goes wrong, you can always flash stock via Odin, and that will also give you stock recovery. Unless, of course, you brick the device by, for example, flashing the wrong firmware.
And as to how to make a nandroid backup, get yourself a CWM recovery, boot into it and in the options you will find backup and restore.
And please use the search button, as all this info is very easy to find on xda.

Thanks you made it clear - that flashing stock firmware also gives the stock recovery. Ty.

TWRP Items to Backup?

There seem to be more options to backup in TWRP than my past phone.
To create a TWRP backup that will effectively restore phone if something happens what backup options should I select?
In past I just chose Boot, System and Data
