[Discussion] To send/share files, what app you are using? - General Topics

Hey mates, well we always need to share/send file through mobile device, so what application you use in high frequency?
To me:
WeChat -> send pictures to friends
Bluetooth -> send file to friends/phones
P.S. I want to know more about the way how a file get into mobile, and do better work at file management. Please do help.

I'm usually send pictures and music through WhatsApp, but in my opinion a good way is Dropbox, because through WhatsApp, the audio files doesn't keep the original name and most people don't manage the files in the SDcard as well as the people who are used to be "geek", if you know what I mean, hehehe

I send files with SuperBeam or I upload them to box.com

i use superbeam.
to extract installed apps, i use ES fileManager.

I use MEGA and Whatsapp or Telegram or Gmail

Mega for me

Whatsapp's the most easy tool, but if we're talking about cloud storage, I use Mega, it has a lot of space (50Gb) and it's absolutely private

Tried, and we find out something good, so here you can see new improvements in our product, the Download Manager part.

Would be nice if you could send full res photos on whatsapp, but that is never gonna happen. Hopefully Telegram will support this in the future?

I use "Notes" by Yuli. It stores them on the sdcard, but it's a very simple note app that may not meet all your needs.

I also use 3banana. Very handy... plus it syncs to the web and you can log into snaptic.com (using your google account) and edit, delete or create new notes there and just sync them back to the phone.
Why don't you do a Titanium backup of your favorite notes application?
It can restore all the data including the notes you have saved and you don't have to look for a new app...

Gallery App

Hi guys
Does anyone know of a gallery app, like the stock app but with the ability to display photos stored on box.com or dropbox.com?
I have been searching but not found one!
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks Guys

How do you set Dropbox up to download automatically? I've never seen that option but have always wanted it.
Hi
But if you set drop box to download all the files then there is no point them being stored there as they are still on you sd card.
I was looking for an app that will access the online storage and display the images without downloading them?

My Google+ albums are available in my gallery. Have a look at Google+ and see if it will help.

Check out DropSync. Lets you specify folders to auto-sync on your phone at specified intervals or immediately. IOW lets Dropbox work on your phone like it does on a desktop. Very nice!

Sync whatsapp contact photos to phone contacts

Hey all
Now that whatsapp add the feature to save contacts profile photos to phone, is it possible to make an apk or something to sync them with the contacts on the phone?
Where is that feature?
Sent from Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005
On my whatsapp, if the contact has no whatsapp profile photo, it shows the phone contact photo.
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
If you open a contact in whatsapp and press the photo you can save it.
So I believe it is possible to make an app that opens all those photos and uses them for the android contacts.
If you have a rooted device, I've made an app that can do it automatically for you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-contacts-sync-sync-contacts-photos-t3483461
For now, it's not on the play store and there is no update mechanism, but I will try to make one in future versions.

Try downloading via another web browser or PC.
I've downloaded via Chrome Dev on Nexus 5x with Android 7.0, and it works fine...
The APK is ok.
If you wish, here's a different link (of the current APK) :

You mean this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.michaelflisar.socialcontactphotosync
?
If so, I tried it in the past, and when I did, it only allows to manually sync : you need to go to the contact info screen of WhatsApp, share the image, and choose to who to set it.
Not only that, but on later versions of WhatsApp, even this didn't work.
Plus, this app messed up with my contacts each time I changed a rom and restored it.
If you talk about this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rm.android.wcps&hl=en
- then it also doesn't really work. It opens WhatsApp and tells you to open the large screen page of the contact, and that's it. Doesn't do anything with it.
My solution is fully automatic, using root.
The only other app I know about that syncs well is Sync.Me, which syncs with a multiple social networks, but not with WhatsApp (and it has a good reason that it's not included).

In which phase doesn't it work? What happens when you launch it?

Can you please PM me or write about it on the thread of the app:

Oneplus 3 Android 7.1 beta
after sync my whatsapp contacts, I can not see any pictures in my contacts
OP3 with Android 7.0 here.
Not working. It does not recognize all my contacts. Just 4 of them.
All my contacts are Google contacts synced and merged with WhatsApp contacts
Is there any way I can get auto syncing without root?
I found an app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rm.android.wcps
But it syncs only first 30.
I have seen few apps which take adb permissions from PC to work if they don't get root permissions from the android.
Hi,
Don't know if this still relevant.
Checkout this new app:
WAW Photo Sync - Apps on Google Play
Sync or update your contact photos from WhatsApp Display Pictures
play.google.com
It uses a different concept than traditional whatsapp sync apps.

Hi Rodrigo,
Unfortunately, this is not possible as WhatsApp requires you to scan the QR code using your camera.
You can send the QR code to a friend and scan the QR using his/her phone.
Paring is a one time process
Let me know how it goes

Google photos backup

Not sure if this is the correct section, I have a few years of Google Photos backed up and no real way for an offline or duplicate back up. Are there any solutions for an offline backup? I know there is an export function to download your data, but looking for a more mainstream option to sync to my pc or external drive?

That's the export function I was referring to in my original post. You request the data, and get a link in few hours to couple days and do a massive download.
What I am looking for is an active sync to PC or local storage. Like Dropbox or OneDrive does with the client.
Still looking for a local sync option. Current option are only manually downloading pictures

Best Way to send Photos & Videos

Hello,
I noticed that sending mass pictures and videos using Samsung messaging always looks pixelated and blurry (More so videos than pictures). I've tried link share and that always fails. What is the best method everyone is using to share their photos and videos in their full and clear resolution? Iam not interested in flashing or rooting my U.S t-mobile branded Note 20 Ultra and really prefer to stay with the stock Samsung messaging as I like all its other features except for this.
Rooting or flashing? Lol. Are you new to phones? Texting is an old fashioned way of sending media. Don't want compression? Don't text. Use WhatsApp, Facebook messenger, google photos to share your media. Texting will compress the heck out of everything.

I didn't notice this issue using google messaging in the past. That's why I was trying to see if Samsung messaging somehow was the culprit in this case. I do have WhatsApp and Viber but not FB Messenger so I'll check out those two. I'll just have to convince the people on the other end to download those apps I guess. If RCS messaging was standardized across the board by now this problem would not exist. In the mean time Apple has the capable iMessage without any of these issues. By the way I'm not new to phones and a quick search shows a lot of people having the same challenges..

I couldn't get it to work as it kept failing. Most likely because I was impatient and trying to share tons of photos and videos to a bunch of people all at once. I wish there was a better option outside of apps (viber, whatsapp etc) that was built in and wouldn't require people to download any of those..

1. Download an app called Telegram, the setup process is same as whatsapp. Now the person you want to send it to should also have the app.
2. Then click on the paperclip icon and select "FILE" then select "GALLERY" choose the picture or video you want to send. This way the images and videos would be sent without compression.
If you got an amazon prime subscription, you get unlimited cloud storage for picture in original format and size with their Amazon Photo app. You may then be able to share link through it
I found the way thanks to an Italian friend. If you need to go to a full resolution file with whatsapp just go to the attachment symbol, select documents and then move to the photo folder and select the file. Obviously it will arrive uncompressed but it will load it in more time.
For sharring videos use app Venlow and you will be surprised.

I actually use link sharing. It sends the file to the cloud for a couple days, and creates a link that you can share. The limit on the file size is 5gb.. View attachment 5115885
