Try a cm11 nightly or the latest cm11s ota. I can't speak for PA but cm has had several volume issues fixed.

Did you have this problem from the day you got the phone or after an update?

It was working fine, i noticed it out of the blue when i came from a trip

Just for clarification when you say speakerphone does it mean loudspeaker or the ear piece.
Did you drop the phone somewhere?
Are you able have a conversation just using the phones earpiece?
Can you listen to songs on loudspeaker?
Did you test the problem with viber/skype?(seems ridiculous but try)
Go to mahdi/pa/slim any one and try.
If the problem still persists you might have a physical damage.

[Q] Flashing back to ICS

I apologize in advance if this all seems basic, but I've googled and googled and I'm not getting anything but confused. My girlfriend has a Photon Q that she OTA upgraded to Jelly Bean, and she absolutely hates it. She desperately wants to go back to ICS. Is that possible, and if so how can I do it?
Use the FXZ thread.
There's the getvar lines to remove, and there's some additional lines which need to be removed if you're downgrading.
Edit - this post may help you with the additional lines that need to be removed in order to downgrade.

Okay, so I think I get it for the most part. I download RSD Lite and the proper FXZ file for what I'm downgrading to, which would be 4.0.4 in my case since I'm going ICS. I edit the XML file to remove the line <step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" /> and should be good to go. Assuming I'm correct with my understanding, I'm still confused about one three. There appear to be three different FXZ for 4.0.4, I'm not sure which of the three I should use.

Well since you're downgrading there are some additional lines which you have to remove from the XML file. Read my edit, I linked you to another post which talks about that.
As for which one to download, that is up to you. Motorola released 3 OTA's for ICS, and one for JB. I have no clue which one was being used previously on your device, but it's likely ASA-14 as it was the last ICS firmware.

Well it appear I may be SOL anyways as I can't seem to get into recovery mode. Upon starting up and pressing power + Vol up I get nothing but a screen of an android with an ! coming out of its chest for about a minute or two and then the phone reboots. Damn thing isn't rooted or anything, it's a stock phone.

That's stock recovery. You need to put the phone in fastboot mode, not recovery mode.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
should bring you to fastboot mode. Or, use cam+power to get the menu when the phone turns on.

Maybe it's too late for you as it's for me now: but doing this erased my IMEI data. I hope nobody else try this.

No, I never tried to downgrade to ICS... I still have a stock backup of ICS, never saw the need to flash it.
Sorry, I misunderstood the original problem.
In my case, my phone came already with jelly bean, so I did'nt have an ICS backup. I wanted to downgrade in order to get MSL number, and ended with a phone with IMEI 00000... :crying:
Fortunately I did a bull nandroid backup before that, so I restored it and my IMEI came back. :victory:
Edit: Finally I could downgrade without losing IMEI using TWRP and the ICS backup from this thread.
With that, I could get my MSL and then return to CM11.

Photon Q succefully downgraded to ICS 4.0.4 from JB 4.1.2

Hi, i am happy because i'm finished with downgrade my photon Q
Only just use RSD Lite 6.1.5,
download "asanti_c-user-4.0.4-7.7.1Q-6_SPR-125_ASA-14-15-release-keys-Sprint-US.xml"
Open and edit xml file:
Delete lines: <step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />
<step operation="flash" partition="partition" filename="gpt_main0.bin" MD5="6C05E70F1DCC59AD92B0BBEC4E6100ED" />
and <step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />
save file and lets start flashing
I have tested with unlocked bootloader, but i don't know, maybe it is possibly with locked bootloader.

Still get error after trying to flash
In celebration of the one year anniversary of this post (to the minute), I have just successfully downgraded back to 4.0.4
cm11 is for the birds
ty keith.d, and thank you stable/stock 4.0.4, its good to be home again
I understand the desire to run a stock ROM for our phone, especially since it is very difficult to point to a custom ROM which is stable and where all key phone features (calling, Bluetooth, Wifi, etc.) work. I guess that CM11 M8 was pretty good, but is no longer readily available.
But why do you (folks) prefer stock ICS over stock JB? I have a stock ICS phone (a replacement for my original phone which I'd upgraded to stock JB, but reached a semi-bricked state where it would hang on the yellow Sprint screen), but certainly preferred stock JB over stock ICS (attempts to upgrade via the builtin method fails on my newer phone).
My older phone is now unbricked and running CM 10.2, which is pretty good but still a bit flaky. My primary use of root is for linking Amazon Prime Music DRM'd files, and some other files, via the SD card. So I could "fall back" to either of the stock ROMs, and just root it.
But why might/should one consider stock ICS over stock JB?

You should try to wipe data/cache (it works also with stock recovery).
That might work
Sorry if I was unclear. If I wanted to, I could figure out how to restore either stock ICS or stock JB. Most people using this forum could probably do so as well.
My question was: why are some of you folks installing stock ICS, rather than stock JB?
Sent from my XT897 using Tapatalk
Yes, it was clear
I just wanted to help on this
ICS is old and kind of "stable", that's what many people think.
JB is "new" and that's why it has to be unstable.
If I understand it correctly, Android is being developed continuously.
That means, JB is set on ICS and JB is kind of the successor of ICS.
A good reason for using ICS over JB with this explanation isn't given.

Verizon HTC One M8 Official Marshmallow Bugs & Features

I updated today to the 6.21.605.3 MM OTA from Verizon, it went smoothly (after I figured out how to get the update to install). I noticed some differences from the Unlocked One M8 MM update. I also noticed some bugs. I'll make 2 lists & if anyone knows how to fix some of these bugs feel free to post.
New Features:
1 - Android 6.0.1 Emojis (HTC Style only for the Smilies)
2 - In Recents we have a Gear for Settings instead of the 3 dot
3 - USB Connection gives you 5 options plus Just Once or Always Buttons
Bugs:
1 - Lockscreen doesn't show after timing out when turning screen on, only shows lockscreen when you press Lock Button (FIX, just go into Settings/Security/Screen Lock set to Pin and then change Lock Phone After to "Immediately". You can change your Screen Lock type to anything again)
2 - HTC Weather don't show in App Drawer (FIX, download Activity Launcher then Create Shortcut to HTC Weather *THANKS Benovite*)
Unlock Wifi Hotspot / Flashlight in Power Menu / Power Saver:
Flash In Any Custom Recovery, Wipe & Reboot (this is the only way Power Saver will show up *THANKS dottat*)
I noticed a bug too. After the MM update, there a list of HTC apps to be updated in the Play Store. These include HTC Mail, Calendar, Connect, DLNA, MirrorLink, Speak, Tasks. None of these apps can be updated because they all fail the initial download because of a failure to connect to server.
I also noticed another thing. If you try to clear the cache by going through the bootloader>recovery menu, the phone just gets hung on the screen with a red triangle on it. You have to push and hold the power button to reboot.
The HTC App Update issues seems to have been fixed. I was able to update the HTC Apps just now.
Was sense 7 supposed to be in this release?
never mind, it is! lol

Woops, thought this was the M9 thread. It's working in my M9 MM Fluent ROM with this method, but I also edited HtcPowerManager.apk, so not sure which one of these or if both are needed to enable it.

Is Verizon the carrier that your using the phone on? If your using this phone on a different Carrier Provider it explains why your System Update isn't working.

I thought i just had to copy this to my laptop's hard disk and connect my laptop to my phone via datacable and open the bootloader by pressing the down volume key after the restart .
Please correct me .
Thanks
Installed it this morning, took long as heck to do both updates.
Seems to run smoother but for some odd reason it seems to drain battery faster (got 11 hours instead of 12 with normal use) on me and now is heating up during video playback and when using the quickcharger.

Wait a min! It's not a hardware issue anymore.
Try clean flash using OPO toolkit.it will work fine.

Hey @Mr.Ak i am trying to flash the rom using twrp recovery but getting error: Could not find 'META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary' in the zip file
Here, follow this. Very simple, and should fix everything you're facing. Report back if it worked.

This is because the zip you're flashing is to be flashed via fastboot, not TWRP.

See the thing is for that you should actually able to get your device detected in Qhs_detector_9008 mode which you can do using adb but that is a very lenghty and risky procedure.See if you can fair things up by running a couple of fastboot errands.

[TWRP] Dual Stereo Speaker Mod for S8/S8+ Android 8 Oreo Only

Hello
Here is the Update for Dual Speaker Mod for S8/S8+.
Nougat Version of Mod won't work on Android Oreo.
Here below you find the Updated mod for Android Oreo.
Tested and Works on S8/S8+ (Exenos) Android 8.0. 100% Works
Not yet tested on SD Variant.
Download Zip file below and flash it via TWRP recovery .
Also Upload Root Browser Method....
Just Extract Root Browser Method.rar and copy the files to System/etc and change permission and reboot
Remove Mod Added. You just back to Stock anytime. Just flash it via TWRP
I unfortunately installed the Nouget version on and Oreo ROM, and now I'm in bootloop! Any idea how to get out of it?
Works fine. Headphones sounds good, no changes there. I flashed via TWRP and that's it...
Thank you!
You should make a remove method...I know, maybe someone wants to remove this mod without reset.
Keep going and good luck!

Hi, I just tested on "rom minautorus" it works but every 2 minutes the phone restarts constantly so it works it works out is a shame because it is a good feature
Hi, thanks for the stereo speaker mod, it works very well on android 8.
I'm wondering if Is it to possible to let the user change the balance between the top and the bottom speakers ?
Should i concern about earpiece i mean will this cause any damage to earpiece as it wasnt intentionally designed for this purpose by samsung.
After install this mod, i have experienced problems with Netflix app. Like inifite loading or error 5.2. How can i solve this problems? thanks
Edit: this error happen everytime, i can't use the app.
Edit²: I have the solution, just go to /system/liboencrypto.so and change to liboencrypto.so.bak - i recommend to use ES Explorer and turn on the root mode.
