[Q] Update Razr HD xt925 from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2 - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I've searched the forums and found a few posts detailling how to go from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2, but they all seem to require an unlocked bootloader. I have yet to find a post with instruction on unlocking it, however, so maybe someone could point me in the right direction? I'd very much appreciate it.
Some further details: The phone is on the 98.50.20001.XT925.Movistar.en.01 stock firmware (it's an Argentine carrier-branded JB 4.1.2 fw). I have unlocked the bootloader on my Moto X, then updated it to 4.4.2 and finally rooted it. But for this Razr HD I just want to get it to 4.4.2. I don't really care about rooting it or unlocking the bootloader, unless of course they are necesary for the process.
Thank you very much!

There is no official 4.4.2 for xt925 at the moment.. just a buggy soak test that lets you to install custom roms based on kk bootloader and kernel 3.4 (called moto_msm8960)..
And if you want to install that buggy soak test you must unlock the bootloader..
(I not recommend install that soak test, wait a little more and the official kitkat will be announced)
Saludos!

uhmm I think is in the Cm11 thread I really don't remember..
But why don't use Cm11 jbbl builds? Its running really great and stable. KKBL builds its more unstable and have various bugs that on jbbl does not exist..
Sorry for my English

Which stock firmware?

I have a Xoom WiFi which has the CM 10.x nightlies .
I am planning to give this Xoom to my mother. I don't want to give it with the nightlies firmware
Which stable firmware do you guys suggest? Also can I downgrade from 4.4.x to 4.1 ?
thanks
Motorola's website still has the stock, original firmware (I believe). I would use that if I were you, and then let it update to 4.1.2 (the last official update).
XOOM XOOM!
I used nightlies 10.1 CM for several months and it works great, do not change it works perfect, now I have the Omni 4.4.2 and is fabulous ....

[Q] KitKat Bootloader

After reading some posts in development forum, we need latest KitKat bootloader before installing the 4.4 ROM. Where could we find the KitKat bootloader ? I am using stock xt925 bootloader and running CM rom (4.3).
Thanks,
Ching-Ho Cheng
Just flash epinter builds, you don't need KK bootloader for that builds.
This is the last one: https://goo.im/devs/epinter/cm-11-20140721-NIGHTLY-moto_msm8960-epinter.zip

Did you update your phone to the official Kit Kat via the Motorola/Verizon KK OTA? Then you have it already. You just have to get the correct recovery (TWRP 2.7.1.0 or CWM 6.0.4.9)
He/She have the xt925 not xt926 so no official KK update yet, we have an KK leaked soak test but isn't recommended to install so stay with epinter's builds is the better choice for us.

I did not update my phone to official Kit Kat because my phone is GSM XT925 not CDMA XT926. So I am still at JB 4.3.
How do I update to the KitKat bootloader? I have been running Slimkat but I want to try ParanoidAndroid.
If I update to the KitKat bootloader will I be able to go back to the previous bootloader and restore my Slimkat backup if need be?

[Q]Regarding Google s4 Safestrap

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to all of this. I have a question about this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2767026
I am currently rooted, and safestrap on version 4.4.2 of kitkat. When I flash this, I am going to flash version 4.4.2, but this rom also has downloads for 4.4.3 and 4.4.4. Do I need to start with 4.4.2 and flash my way up in order to get to 4.4.4?
Thanks!

How to revert back to Kitkat?

As usual i was on 4,4,4 Moto but then i flashed GPE 4.4.4 then updated to Lolipop, now i want to go back to motorola and is this ever going to be possible without facing the consequence some people have faced already? A brick? Is this currently available? Is there an update from motorola coming, such as the 5.0.2 Lolipop update?
Lollipop 4.4.4? haha If you updated to 5.0 the boot loader has been updated, and there will be some bugs when you downgrade like a line going down the screen sometimes.

I sucesfully converted to Kitkat 4.4.4 GPE, however, is it possible to flash Moto 4.4.4 with the Lolipop 41.18 bootloader ? I dont want to break the phone but i really hate GPE!
I tried and got 4.4.4 stock but you got some bugs, a little bugs, no brick.

You sir, are posting in the wrong section! This is the development thread, no place to be asking questions. That is what the Q & A section is for.
On another note, downgrading is risky because of the possibility of bricking because of incompatible bootloaders.
The safest way to return to Android 4.4.4 is by unlocking Bootloader and flashing one of these Stock ROMs via TWRP.
[ROM][4.4.4][STOCK][FLASHABLE ZIP] Stock Motorola KitKat ROM Collection
The Optimized ROMs have OTA updates disabled. You do not want any kind of Motorola OTA Update. These updates include Bootloader patching and may end up destroying your phone.

Use this thread instead:
[ROM][FALCON][5.1][STOCK] Stock Motorola Lollipop ROM Collection
EDIT: Fastboot should be okay as a way to return to Lollipop. But the Optimized Stock ROMs offer better performance and battery-life.
is there any chance of hardbrick while downgrading to 4.4optimised and then upgrading to 5.1 optimised?
