[Q] My Oneplus stuck on bolt symbol - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So anyway i'm new here,,,,i just buy my oneplus several days ago, after several days of usage i found that i have microphone issue with ok google,so i look for option and i found some help here (i cant post link, its from youtube)
But to do that i must root oneplus so i did it,i instal supersu and using twrp recovery, after the phone rooted,i check again using root checker and it work, after that i tried to do method from youtube to fix my microphone,
After i found the mixed-path.xml,i changed the value but i cant save it,so go out and change the permission, then go to that file again, strangely i can't find the syntax again,i open the same file but the syntax is not there anymore...so i go out to homescreen and then try to reboot.
The problem now is my phone won't boot up,it stuck on the logo that look like bolt spinning,,,,any idea what should i do now?

I'm confused when you say the bolt symbol. Is it the one of the CyanogenMod Inc logo?
Boot into twrp. Fully turn your phone off and then hold volume down + power, adb sideload and then flash one of the zips of your choice. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2835010
Be more careful next time. If this helped you, give it a thanks

Did you try ADB Sideload as I mentioned? Do you have ADB set up?
To elaborate what I said on earlier,
- you need to boot your phone into recovery
- factory wipe
- advanced in twrp -> sideload
- while you're at this, select the two options to wipe and then swipe.... then type,
Code:
adb sideload <name-of-zip>.zip
and then once you type that it'll be sent to the phone and then you can sideload flash. After that reboot and then your phone will start up again.
ADB Sideload: http://teamw.in/ADBSideload

@foxzeaker77, just to clarify, it isn't called a bolt symbol, it's boot, and more correctly, boot animation.

[Q] [i9023] Blank/Black screen in recovery

Hey everyone,
Basically I was trying to flash a new ROM onto an old Nexus S of mine and when I tried to boot into recovery there was just a black screen. I pressed the power button and a single line saying "Clockwork mod Recovery" and the version number popped up. I assumed that the recovery must've been corrupted so I erased it and installed the latest version using fastboot which seemed to work fine.
Now whenever I try to boot into recovery I just get a blank screen with nothing else. I've tried using other recovery images such as twrp but the same problem happened, I just get the background wallpaper/image and nothing else.
I searched the forums and apparently people were having this issue earlier on when the i9023 was first released but now most custom recoveries are supposed to work with both i9020 and i9023.
Also the touch buttons light up and vibrate whenever I touch them when I'm in recovery mode.
Any help to this problem would be greatly appreciated as atm I have an old ROM which is buggy as hell and I need to get rid of it.
Cheers!
I had the same Issue. If you can boot into the rom, you can try to download the rommanager-app and install the recovery from there.
Hey I tried that already that and instead of booting into recovery it just went into the bootloader and said "No Recovery or Bootloader found".
Any other ideas?
Did you clicked the first point in rommanager? Install recovery, or you only hit the second button reboot into recovery?

Hey
I have the i9023 and I install rom manager. install CWM and if I reboot into recovery it works and I get in to CWM recovery.. but after reboot into os.. if I go into Rom manager and reboot to recovery it dont work? I just get the android figur and a "!".. then I just can Power + vol up and I'm in bootloader recovery..
Do I have to install CWM every time i want to use it? and can't I access CWM on boot op ?
sorry for my bad English
Normaly you have to flash the recovery only once.
Try to flash the newer clockwork-recovery with fastboot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988686
Alfiedk: You need to get rid of this file:
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
As it re-installs the stock recovery every boot.
I think you can download any custom ROM for your phone, and flash it in CWM recovery, this will also solve the problem
Edit: Did you unlock the phone? Have you tried fastboot oem unlock?

I havent unlock my phone, but I can get in to bootloader is it then necessary to unlock ?
I try to delete the /install-recovery.sh
Yes you need to unlock your bootloader, if you dont want to reflash it all the time.

Yes I made sure I selected install clockwork mod. Like I said the problem isn't the same when I do this, instead of a blank screen, when I boot into recovery it goes straight to fastboot and tells me that I don't have a recovery image installed at all...

what happens when you try to temporary boot into the recovery?
instead of "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img", try to "fastboot boot recovery.img"
Just look for an recovery.img that works temporary and then try to flash it permanently.
I'll try it and get back to you Xziped. If anyone else can think of any other ideas please just throw'em at me, I'm willing to try anything!
Yeah no help there either. It does the exact same thing temporarily booting into a recovery that it did when I actually had it installed on the phone :\.
I updated ROM manager to the latest and tried installing CWM with that but to no avail. It still says that there is no recovery installed when I do that.

Sorry but if not even the temporary recovery boots up, i dont know what else we can do
did you try some of the older recoverys? is your bootloader unlocked?
I haven't tried an older recovery and my bootloader is unlocked.
could it be a problem with my computer as opposed to the phone itself? As in my computer is messing up when trying to flash the recovery?
I've also noticed now that when I boot into fastboot mode the menu just locks up and doesn't respond to anything. Sometimes I have to pull the battery and other times it'll start responding after randomly pressing the power key a lot of times...
I'll try an older recovery next

Your adb setup isn't working. Have you booted your phone holding VOL+ and power? Are your ADB drivers installed?
It's either the first or the last one, check your stuff. I doubt it's bricked.
look thats what the phone do exactly when i restart it normal it keeps on the boot screen it just keep going on but when i boot with vol + i get into that menu not sure what its called where it say
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
RECOVERY

I've never had good luck with the Android SDK driver, I use the PDANet driver instead.
http://junefabrics.com/android/index.php
That always got my phone to be detected after.
Edit: That's the fastboot screen. You should have used this when you rooted your phone, if you did it "manually".
You will use fastboot flash recovery recoveryimage.img
to flash a recovery. Recoveryimage.img will be the name of the recovery you're trying to flash.

Bootloader Unlocked... now what?

Hey Everyone,
Im sorry in advance if I'm about to ask the dumbest questions of the day/week, but I'm brand new to this, and I haven't found any answers in any of these threads, so go easy...
Up until now I customized the heck out of my mt4g. Tonight however, I followed HTC's instructions and unlock the boot loader -- as I thought based on what their site said, that I'd be able to flash custom roms to the phone once unlocked.
I was successful in unlocking the Bootloader, but (S=on) still exists. I'm kinda stuck now because I don't know what to do next? Is it possible to go from here to Root, if so, how? I've tried the HTC Super Tool for over an hour and it's not working... not giving me perm S=off. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
If the phone isn't rooted, then how am I supposed to be able to flash a rom??... Do I do it from the HBOOT menu? Because I can't seem to do that either. If I opt for "recovery" while in HBOOT, I come to a red triangle, and have to do a battery pull.
The stock rom that's loaded now has GB 2.3.4 running.
My goal is simply to get CyanogenMod running on this phone. I just don't know what the next step is. I've already factory reset the phone so all my customizations and apps are gone therefore I don't really care what I have to do to get where I want to go. If it's possible to root from here, what's the next step? If root isn't possible, then how do I flash a new rom, like HTC claims I can do now that the BL is unlocked??
If someone could offer some help, I would be super appreciative!!

Sent from my mytouch 4g using xda premium
okay... I followed the guide and I achieved "perm-root", I believe.
If I go into terminal emulator, and type SU, I get a # returned. I do notice however that when I boot into HBOOT, it still says s=on. Not sure what the difference is between 'perm root' and 's=on' but...
I have rom manager downloaded. I also have titanium backup downloaded and did a full backup.
PROBLEM:
In rom manager, I Flashed ClockworkMod Recovery, and then downloaded the nightly CyanogenMod, no problem, but every time the phone reboots (into recovery mode), I stop at the red triangle?!?!?!
What's going wrong?
Open rom manager and art the top is an option to install recovery-install it, then you should be good to go
I did install recovery. Everytime it reboots into recovery i get the red triangle.
After I get the red triangle, and I hold the Vol Up button and hit power, I come to a BLUE recovery menu (3e) with 4 options:
- Reboot system now
- Apply update from sdcard
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Wipe cache partition
in the middle of the screen, in yellow text it says "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command"

i started with HTC Unlock, then achieved perm-root, but (s=on)
Recovery
Hello,
I had the same issue, I had to flash the recovery with adb
1) If you dont already have it download flash_image and place it in your adb tools folder
2) Download the recovery you need and unzip, then rename to recovery.img and place in the root of your sdcard
3) open terminal and use the following commands
adb push flash_image /system/bin
adb shell
su
cd /system/bin
chmod 777 flash_image*
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
4)wait for it to finish
5) type exit
adb reboot recovery
this should solve the issue
You can find the recovery here...including the new touchscreen version
http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager
You can download flash_image here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902493
Thanks to Raichison for all the above
okay #furydude39, im all ready to run through your steps... when i issued the first command "adb push flash_image /system/bin", the handset responded with
"failed to copy 'flash_image' to '/system/bin/flash_image': Read-only file system"
Any idea where to go now? This is obviously why every time i boot into recovery that the processes initiated by RomManager isn't sticking.
an hour later...
I was able to execute the commands correctly that 'furydude39' recommended, and still nothing.
Here's a video I shot of the phone [still] giving me a headache

We need to find out why it is not flashing the cw recovery. Are you able to to mount /system partition and copy files to it? I'm thinking a downgrade might be necessary so you can do gfree and eng bootloader.

okay guys...
I got past the last problem, of getting clockwork mod recovery to work. So, that's all set.
NOW, I use rom manager and i downloaded cyanogenmod 7.1 (stable) + google apps. Once the downloads were complete, I checked all three boxes... backup, clear caches, clear dalvik cache. The phone reboots, goes right into clockwork mod recovery.
the backup goes fine... the cyanogen flash goes without error, and then the google apps flashes without error.
NOW, the phone reboots, and the thing just hangs on the White t-mobile boot screen. Is this supposed to take a while before it goes into Cyanogen's screen? It's been sitting on this white screen for at least 5 minutes.

You should manually wipe and flash. Doing it from the app seems to screw up some of the time. Make sure you wipe system data cache and dalvik before flash. It even helps to reboot recovery after doing wipe before you flash a rom.

In recovery, using the volume rockers, look for factory data reset/wipe. I'm not to positive on the exact names, since I have touch recovery. When you find it select wipe data an wipe cache. after those are wiped, go back then find advance, wipe dalvik cache. When that finished, go back. Select install from sdcard, find your files an install them. Everything should work then.
If I helped, give thanks, if you please.

Disaster Recovery - Life after wrong Flash ? OnePlus

Hello all,
2 days ago when on vacation i decided to temper around with my OnePlus one that i recently bought (have bought the Chinese version but it was already rooted and had cyanoged mod on it)
All was fine until i decided to flash Paranoid Android and i posted a question here, about how to bypass the always apearing CyanogenMod Simple Recovery tool.
After trying what everyone suggested and not getting result i had 1 last thing that someone suggested:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54717885
If you still have not fixed this issue, for some reason when I was flashing my recovery it would NOT work for the life of me until I changed the name of the custom recovery file to 'recovery.img'. Everytime I flash (for example) openrecovery-twrp-blah-bacon.img it would say success, but it kept rebooting into CM fastboot mode.
Click to collapse
I misunderstood and i renamed the .zip file from paranoid sources into recovery.img and flash (Kernel) it via some app from play store, i thin it was TRWL
Now my phone is stuck into loading faze and the only thing i can do is enter Fastboot mode.
I tried to do a:
fastboot erase cache
But it did not work, its still stuck in loading and will not do anything.
Could you help me out ? I have a really bad feeling i just lost my phone due to hurrying and not having a pc around to read more.
You can try to fastboot flash recovery(original or proper one that works) but I don't know the exact commands.
In the first case where your recovery would not switch from CM to TWRP/CWR was because you had "Update CM Recovery" enabled in Developer Options. If you ticked that off, then it would have replaced CM Recovery. Its confusing yeah.
So wait... you renamed the .zip to a .img? Thats not good. But at least you can enter fastboot mode so thats at least something. Is your bootloader still unlocked? Are you able to boot into recovery mode? Try fastboot boot <name-of-recovery-for-twrp>.img and see if you can get into recovery.
If you can then perform a wipe and then enable adb sideload within TWRP and then type,
adb sideload <name-of-zip>.zip and then after its done sideloading, reboot
Thanks for the answer.
I managed last night out of 10 flash resets to get the Custom Recovery Tool to booth up.
I was about to give up when i saw it boot and i immediately flashed the CM .zip i had on the phone from last time.
I even managed to get Paranoid android to flash and im very happy.
Thanks for the help

stuck in loop, possibly a different kind of loop

I was trying to fix my girlfriends nexus 5 that was doing the restart loop after an update. Everything seemed to go fine. Unlocked the bootloader, etc. Flashed the newest rom (6.0.1 (MMB29S) ce1d670f61061c3902f3997510ea55d7 6bfcdfa4f4840898e5d76fa044f5e6a0f71343bf) and then something obviously went wrong (not quite sure, dont think i touched anything) and it's now stuck in a different kind of loop that only loops while it's plugged in. Ive uploaded a video to youtube, but since im a new user i cant actually link it properly yet. Hopefully this wont annoy any mods, I promise it's not spam. youtube . be / yNSoiTPnGZw
Is there any way to get it to stay on for more than a couple seconds to retry the flashing?
Any help is appreciated.

First i followed the guide here on xda to unlock the bootloader(guide-nexus-5-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t2507905), installed twrp, which went fine. Then i realized that i couldnt (or didnt realize how to via command line) to copy the stock rom and install it via twrp, so then i followed this guide here on xda (tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701) with the factory img (6.01 hammerhead), got to this point in the guide: ★After everything finished, select "Recovery" using the volume buttons. then it stalled out, turned off and now just cycles on and offf through the google logo with the lock picture or if i hold down the volume button it will go into the bootloader briefly then restart, rinse repeat.

Different problem
I had a problem where the google logo keeps on booting up with a slight vibration. This started to happen when my was dropped.I initially thought that was a software issue and thought of installing new ROM's but eventually my device was not detected :crying:
So i took it to repair shop near my house and they said it would cost 2500
I did some google research and found the reason was due to the power button being stucked during the fall.I got that repaired and my device is good to go

ok, took it into a shop, got the power button fixed. It must have been on the way out because literally one minute it worked and the second it didnt. now i think ive got it narrowed down. it's saying it's unable to mount /persist. ive tried the various fixes:

and

stuck in bootloop while flashing cataclysm rom
i tried to flash cataclysm rom in my n5..i unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery using TWRP and flash cataclysm rom following the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...s-5-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t2507905...after that it was stuck in bootloop...i tried to open recovery but it wont open anymore it will only go back to loop....how can open the recovery? is it safe to flash CWM recovery?..tnx in advance..
When it was stuck in the loop, I had to hold vol up and down with the power button (wait a few secs until it was completely off) then reboot holding down + power till it opened the bootloader. if that doesnt work, try reflashing the bootloader via fastboot. I only found out i couldnt mount the persist partition by looking at the terminal window in twrp after trying to install a rom which kept it in the boot loop. I then used the cmd: make_ext4fs /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist to rebuild it.

After flashing TWRP, use the volume and power button to select recovery. Once in TWRP, wipe cache, data, reboot.
