I am try to figure out if a N8000 is worth the extra trouble and expense of tracking down.
If I buy a 8013 from a local Bestbuy I have the option of exchange due to light leakage or creaking.
I have had a tablet with a simcard slot and haven't used it for over a year. It is just easier to link mobile Wifi on my Note.
Is there another reason to get a n8000?
Thanks for the opinions!

Call me crazy but if you've had a mobile data capable tablet for a year and haven't used that capability why would you do it again? If you wanna blow money let me know. I'll give you my PayPal address.
Heheh, where's that bridge again?
When I was bought my last tablet it seemed like a needed function but practicality reared its head.
I am asking if there is another feature that makes the 8000 preferable.
I read in another thread that the 8013 is missing a palm ignore that the 8000 has to make pen input easier.
Thanks

My friend got the 8013 & I got the 8000, and so far I can judge they are the same so far the s-pen inputs concerns. I choose the 8000 course the possibility of sms function.

I tried some of these apps that can send via your phone when I got galaxy tab without 3g.- but the "problem" for me was, that you need to be connected to you phone all the time, to be able to receive sms. And you did not get delivery reports on the tab. But if you just need too send a little amount of sms it is a good solution. There is also several providers of sms via Web so you not need to connect to you phone for send/receive.

Call me cheap but I didn't feel like shelling out monthly for data/voice that I'd rarely use. If I do need data on the go I just tether via BT.
If you'll need data/voice/txt on the go alot spring for the 8000, otherwise you won't be disappointed with the 8013 . As far as I know they're the same other than the 3g.
Agreed, I was leaning that way.

Yeah, but I like the fact I don't need to sweat the fact my phone battery is dying or dead, or left on the desktop charger at home... I always have a phone when I've got my tab... And for the $10/month for the extra plan I think its worth it...
I don't have any issues with my 8013, I can get internet access from my phone if I am somewhere without wifi, which is rare. If in the car, I have a car charger with 2 usb outs. Using google voice, I can text pretty nicely from my note when I don't want to get my phone out of my pocket or wherever it is at. I can always use my pc to make calls if my phone is dead with google voice.
Gentlemen and ladies, just wanted to thank everyone here for helping me make my TB last as long as it did. I had posted many a noob question and everyone was very helpful in answering those goofy questions. I have migrated to the 8X, and will miss seeing all the stuff everyone keeps coming up with!

I can't understand why people are jumping ship, the Thunderbolt is a GREAT phone and, with the right ROM is all anyone would ever need!
I'm sticking with it for two reasons:
1. because it's so perfect that nobody could ever wish for a better phone and
2. because UPS didn't deliver my Galaxy SIII today. It should be here tomorrow.

What do you plan on doing with the old Bolt? IF you are going to make it a paper weight might I ask for it. Mine lost the top half of the screen and the ear speaker is out. Not good when unemployed so looking for a free phone?
Thank you,
Even though I jumped ship to a DNA, my use of the Thunderbolt is not over. It now serves as my music player and as a GPS unit. It is now more convenient since having 1 phone and using it for GPS, it would be a pain when you get a phone call and then you end up lost or whatever. Now I can answer my calls and speak my texts as I'm driving with my DNA while still being able to navigate. So for me, my Thunderbolt is still very much active.

I have a friend here who also was a TB user, he went with the S3 also, and really loves it. So I think its a learning curve, new setup that you will get used to. I am still trying to figure out just how I want my start screen set up, keep changing it. Eventually I will stop. Or die, whichever comes first!

My problem is the button locations, they're different! I have large hands and when messing around in recovery my ring finger constantly hits the "back" button, the power button is in a very bad place for me, etc. etc.

Yea, like I said, my biggest issue is actually the camera button, I give it a love tap everytime I grab the phone. Thankfully its not an instant on, otherwise that would be a problem.
Its good to see though, that even with this minor (I believe its a minor) issue, its still a great phone. There is no way you can make the location of the buttons perfect for everyone since were all built with different fingers and hands.
And I didn't keep the TB, sold it back to Verizon for 33 bucks, and with the 8X on sale for 99, its nice to only pay 66 bucks for an over 500 dollor phone!
AND I think I FINALLY have the start screen where I want it. Now just have to figure out how to reduce the size of all my songs. With all the songs on, I maxed out the memory. Surprising, its still wicked fast with only 30mb free! WoopWoop!

I also use locus maps pro for my backwoods hiking and tracking.

I got a Gear 2 yesterday. Using it with a GS6. My only gripe so far is how long it takes to initialize or use S Voice. It was fairly snappy at first, but now it won't initialize. I tried restarting both devices and unpairing/repairing them. No improvement.
Any tips?

Wish I had an answer. I had noticed the same thing from time to time. I tried showing it to my girlfriends brother today to talk him out of getting the iWatch. He asked me how to send text messages and I tried sending one as a test. At first it said that it was not able to connect but then it connected but it said that it couldn't hear me. Really annoying!

Thank you for the affirmation. I guess I have to just decide if it's worth keeping if it can't do one of the major reasons I got it. I guess I would like to know if people's experiences with Google Now on Android Wear is any better. I honestly don't get why Samsung keeps pushing S Voice. Even on my Galaxy S6, it's still rubbish.
S voice is crappy but works for the basic things. I've got similar connect issues too. Resets help me, but it's frustrating
I checked out the motor 360 with Google wear and it was slow, and I found the interface clunky.
So I think we have the better device right now. Jumping to another phone will not get u the best... I think they all suck in their own way because all this is new. Imo

I had that for the longest with MM using my Note 5. I sent the watch into Samsung twice for this issue and they replaced it twice. Once I got the 2nd watch S Voice has worked without issue. There were a couple times where it said it sent texts but never did. It could have been a connection issue but 99% of the time it works flawlessly.
I just got my Note 5 and, after connecting it to my WIFI, it shows "connected" but I can't open anything on the Web while connected to WiFi. The Speedtest app always says "network communication issues". I was able to use the wifi a couple of times, but lost it again. I talked to a Verizon agent and he tried a few things. Nothing worked. He connected me to a Samsung customer who simply told me that the problem was related to my router, not the phone. However, my Note 3 is connected to the same router and I have never had any problem. And all my other devices work with no problem on the same Wi-Fi. Anyone had or know of a similar problem? At this point I am simply thinking about returning the phone and going back to my Note 3

Could be a hardware malfunction. If it's happening and you just got the phone, that's what I'd lean towards. Can you connect to other WiFi hotspots? If so and it works just fine, then it might not be so simple.
I have a similar problem like this with my note 5. I have had mine a little over a week now and my issue is for some reason my note 5 will continuously connect to WiFi and disconnect and reconnect back to WiFi and it would do this every 5 mins. This is causing my phone to have terrible battery life but on 4G my phone will last about a day and a half to 2 days. My WiFi signal is Very strong the phone says but it would still lose connection to it. I myself came from the Note 3 and my note 3 never lost connection to my WiFi. I have a Netgear router wireless N+ and i use the 5Ghz output on it. Lately now i noticed its getting better its not disconnecting as much as it was when i first got the phone i don't know why its weird. I was about to return it thinking it was a hardware issue. I was told that the Note 5 is going to be getting marshmallow update soon by best buy so maybe that will include a fix for these WiFi issues and battery drain issues.

Took the phone to the Verizon Store but they didn't have the 64GB version in store. They ordered a new one and it arrived yesterday. It connected right away to my WIFI and I haven't had a single hiccup since. And to think that the Samsung representative I spoke too said the problem with the other phone was my Wifi!
Loving this phone so far but can't wait for my case to arrive because it's not as comfortable to hold and type on as my Note 3, which I am so used to.

Im still struggling to love this note 5. Even after a month, I haven't really fully fell in love with it. I fell in love instantly with my note 3 2 years ago. But I'm really loving; the nice screen, the thin profile, finger print scanner, front/rear camera and the fast usb 2.0 charging. So I may be picking up the s2 3g Verizon version but unsure since its kinda getting old now. I currently use Android wear and really looking to try tizen. Seems so much more polished than AW except for the voice aspect. I guess the s3 will be coming out in a couple months so it leaves me uncertain on what to do. I just love the design of the s2. I'd actually be trading my Nexus 9 tablet in for it since I don't use it anymore. What do you guys think, is it worth still getting this watch? Or should I wait?
I think that it's up to you honestly, but if your trading something in that you don't use...why not. Or wait for the s3

Yeah that's actually how much the guys I'm gonna trade with was selling it for. But since I really don't use my tablet anymore, I offered him that and he said yes.
Well it was my understanding that the s3 would be announced during the note 7 announcement. Or at least around that time. Which the note 7 is being announced Aug 2nd I believe. Which I'll probably buy actually, so not sure I'll want to even spend another few hundred on a smartwatch. So do I take the s2 now at no cost to me except a trade of my nexus 9.

Take the s2 now with no cost if the person is doing an even trade it's a no brainer!
It's a great watch and I'm sure won't be disappointed in it. Remember if and when they release the s3 most likely the price will be out of the range of most folks as was the s2 for quite some time. For a straight trade, with all due respect, you'd be a fool to not do it
Edit, looks like your tablet is selling for more than that version is worth. I would sell the tablet and go through swappa to get the watch. They can be had for often 150 or so.

Yeah, it's a good point. Being that I already have a smartwatch (Sony sw3) I don't want to pay over $200 really. Which I'm sure the s3 will be definitely over that. What new features will it introduce? I'm not sure.
Yeah I've seen my tablet for around $200. I just really don't feel like dealing with eBay with their fees and what not. Plus I can hold this watch in person to make sure it's intact and new as he describes. Just figured it'd be easy to just straight up swap it.
Also, I can still use GPS without a cellular plan right? Not sure if I'm going to add the plan or not.

Oh okay. I spoke to Verizon about it and for their version, the watch gets its own number but anytime you text, or make a call from the watch, the other person will see your original main number from your cell phone. But I would think that would only be applicable if you have an actual plan. otherwise your watch would just be connected either via Bluetooth or WiFi and just mirroring notifications from your phone. It's supposed to have auto sync or something. Not sure if any of that applies to the watch if you don't have a data plan though. It's confusing lol

Obviously when I'm in my car, I want my car to take the call over it'd sound system and not the watches speaker. When I briefly had the huawei watch, I actually to install an app to make this work. How does it work with the s2?

I would assume your phone, watch and car would beep letting you know you have a call. I don't have Bluetooth in my car so I can't confirm, I'd hope it would work out that way anyways
