The title explains it all. I'm trying to get rid of all the bloatware and other system apps I don't need on my Droid Mini (4.4 19.5.3, rooted, w/p off, BL locked) and some apps (specifically the Amazon appstore) I can't get rid of no matter what I do (it seems to be the apps in the /system/priv-app directory). I use Titanium Backup (I have the pro version), and it acts like it uninstalled it but it's still there. I use Clean Master and try to uninstall it but it fails. I use ES File Explorer (I have /system r/w mounted) and try to delete it and it says device or resource busy. Also get the device or resource busy error if I try to remove it via ADB. So I'm at a loss here.
Try to use system cleanup app from the playstore.
That app can see whats installes in priv-app.
w/p on/off isn't something i quite understand as i have only used bl unlocked maxx/mini, but what I personally do is install Root Browser, navigate to system/priv-app and rename the offending applications to app.apk.bak (example: Amazon.apk becomes Amazon.apk.bak) This way, if an update comes along I can erase the .bak and have the stock crap back. If you can't do this with your setup, i apologize, i just thought it might help, as I hate having to install an app just to do one function, and Root Browser is a great app for many things like this, not just one function.

Does anyone know of a software package for windows or even an app for the android that will basically lock down the phone so no apps can be installed unless there is a password entered (by I.T. Administrator etc)? We are trying to rollout android phones but would like to limit app installation.

Yeah sure remove the VENDING.apk in the system/app folder, root permission is needed for this though, I use a program called root explorer, and this will remove the android market from the phone/tablet.
But there would still be other ways to install apps, that would be just removing the most obvious
I just rooted my Asus TF101 tablet with Brk's Root Toolkit v8.
It says I am now rooted, but is there any way to know for sure?
I have rooted my phone before & when I did that I was able to remove all the useless apps that came preinstalled, but on my Tablet it will not let me. I was thinking with root access I would be able to do this.
I am thinking of flashing to another ROM, but want to be sure this thing is rooted first.

I would open it and see what happens.
Also, I do not believe you can uninstall system apps JUST being rooted, you need an app like Titanium Backup to do the uninstalling. They still are not uninstallable in the Settings - Apps section just by rooting.
Alternatively, install a root explorer (or enable Root Explorer permissions in ES File Explorer) and see if you get prompted for root access without errors.

Ah.....forgot about Titanium back up. I knew there was an app I needed to use.
I open SuperUser & it just says No Apps in List or something.

I'm having some random issues with root on my phone... For the most part, my phone seems rooted. I can access most files and folders, removed bloatware system apps, and LuckyPatcher and other root-only apps seem to work well.
My problem is that some apps don't! GameCHI gives me the message "ERROR!!! The system deny to ROOT" for some reason. I've also noticed ES File Explorer will not allow me to paste files in, or remove files from the SYSTEM folder, returning a message that it is read only. Even in recovery mode, it will not let me mess with my system folder, like changing my boot animation, which I used to be able to do. I'm using all updated apps, just updated my SuperSU to 2.14. I enabled root on ES File Explorer and checked all options but system keeps disabling itself. Sometimes I manage to paste something in, but then can never remove it!

Used the ping pong root for at&t s6 and worked great. Deleted a lot of crap and was happy. But the galaxy apps app keeps finding a way to redownload itself. Tried to go through settings and turn off auto update And everything. Anyone have any tips??
I'd be interested to know if there's a workaround to this as well. Once I know for sure we can get rid of the bloatware I may jump back on the S6 bandwagon.
Isn't there a way to remove the download list app from the Play Store so that they don't redownload automatically?

On the G3 there was a folder which had a list of apps it would download no matter what, wonder if the S6 has something similar?
Did you reboot your phone after uninstalling?
Even without rebooting it does it. Play store auto update and everything is off. I did notice in kinguser after deleting things there are files that show up at bottom of the uninstall list. File names like com.Flipboard or com.shealth its weird files for the apps that were uninstalled. And even deleting those from list they just show up again. I'm going to look around file explorer see if I can find anything.
Samsungs S Health app is another one that won't delete. Found the com. Folder with file in it. But says can't delete. This is with root access. Maybe we just need to flash a whole new ROM. I'm sure cynagen working on one

What are you using to uninstall? I see you said Kinguser so I'm assuming not using Titanium Backup. Try to get supersu instead

Hi, may you can install an "Root explore", then just go to /system/app and directly remove apk files of those annoying apps from your ROM.
Earlier today I successfully rooted my phone and uninstalled a bunch of bloatware. Foolishly, I also uninstalled the Samsung keyboard (figuring I only use the Swype keyboard) which I now suspect it is used to enter my pin when turning the phone on. Now I can't get past the pin entry because the keypad does not show up. Is there anyway to reinstall the app in this situation?

You can get a copy of the .apk file and then boot to TWRP, then use adb to sideload the .apk to /system/app or /system/priv-app (wherever it was at before you deleted it).
Or you can reflash your stock firmware or custom ROM if you're using one.

I flash magisk.zip but it is normal app not system app
Magisk is a 3rd-party-app. Take note that a system-app is necessary part of Android OS. And Magisk isn't.

Not quite right, when a 3rd party user app is installed or pushed to system, it then becomes a system app. The term "system app" refers to any app that is in the system partition, it has nothing to do with whether the app is a necessary part of the OS. Stock system apps, or, at least, "some" of them can be considered to be necessary parts of the OS but this isn't completely true because a lot of devices come pre-installed with non essential bloatware apps in the system partition. These non essential bloatware apps can be removed via root or by adb on non rooted devices because they are not necessary parts of the system.
For me a "system app" is - as already mentioned - an app that comes pre-installed in Android ROM's one of the partitions /system/app or /product/app or /product/overlay or /vendor/app, is a "system app" an app that is intended for the functioning of the Android device.
Your admission to this view of mine does not change my opinion.
private app is also a system app but seems to be an add-on. and i flashed the zip but it was not set as a system app, it seems the zip is not related to install like the system in twrp, and twrp mounted the system but couldn't delete any folder in. rooted but so bad!
