HTC One SV (Swisscom) Update 3.11.166.7 fails - HTC One SV

Starting the proposed SW Update 3.11.166.7 on a HTC One sv (Swisscom) generates the message "E: Error installing zipfile INTERNALSDCARD: Download OTA_K2_ul_JB422_Sense50_MR_Vodafone_CH_DE 3.11.166.7...zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
[Rooted/S-Off (Moonshine)/unlocked bootloader and SID 111111]
Who knows the probably reason/solution ???
Thanks a lot for any help!

Seems that something stock is missing, then the update fails.

Thank you, but I don't understand what you mean with "Seems that something stock is missing, then the update fails."
I can imagine, that it has probably something to do with my changment of the CID from VODAP110 (Swisscom) to SID 111111.
In the Bootloader I get CID 111111, the System still says VODAP110.
Greetings
JAS

If your bootloader says 11111111, you should have SuperCid.
Would be new to me, that you can see the CID in the OS, i think what you see is something else.
The OTA update checks your system partition and your recovery, if all files the OTA wants to update are available. If one file is missing, the update stops.
Usually the system has write protection, but with S-off this is gone.
So you maybe deleted files or something else like this (also when you are not aware that you did).

OK. I use a Root Explorer and it says/sees under CID still: VODAP110, the original CID of Swisscom, which I changed to SID 111111.
At the start of the update installation it mentions something like " Kernel does not have Support to reading SELinux contexts"!
Thats the only sign, that something goes wrong, then the update is soon interupted with the message I Wort in my first thread.
It is quite possible, that I deleted files, but how can I find out, which file(s) are missing?
I read in the Google in some Forum that the Update doesn't work on rooted devices, could this this be a possible reason in my case?
Thank a lot
JAS

Root itself is not a problem, only what you do with it (deleting something).
To make the story short, if you don't have a stock backup, i don't see any chance to restore a swisscom rom.
There is nothing available for swisscom.
You have three ways to go:
- remember what you deleted or restore a stock backup if you have (or maybe you know somebody who can provide you a stock backup)
- stay at the software you have
- unbrand your device and flash the free, european software

Thanks for the very fast answer!
I prefer your third proposition and ask you, how to unbrand the device (is it necessary to do so) and where to get this free, european Software (Link to) which works on a HTC One sv?

Thats part of t forum BB Code.
The most important part for you is already done, because you are S-off and you have Supercid.
Now follow this guide (use files for k2ul):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386426
- backup everything what is important for you
- Downgrade hboot
- run the RUU
- run all updates
- profit
Skip the steps to get S-on, thats not needed in your case.

Hi old.splatterhand
Thank you, everything worked well, exept that my hboot is now 1.01.0000 and with this, I'm no more able to unlock the bootloader, respectively to root the device. Trying to start with the wellknown act to come in the bootloader mode gives me always only the possibility to choose either to accept or to denie an update by using the volume up or down button and then the power button.
Because i'm working often with a root Explorer, it's important to be able to Change in the root mode.
I googled and realized, that a lot of People has the same Problem and no solution!
Thank you again, probably you can help in this case too!!!???

What is the actually state of your device? Did you runn the RUU and updated to the latest Android 4.2.2?
To stop the flashing process, remove the PL80IMG.zip from your sdcard. Delete it in Android OS or put your sdcard into a pc and delete it there.

Hi
Indeed, it was the PL80IMG.zip which turned me nearly crasy!
Removing the SD Card brought already the solution of this (hopefully) last Problem.
I have to install the TMRP recovery still, but I think, i'll work this for my own!
A big thank you for all your admirable knowledge and the Patience ...!!!

I don't know whether the unrevoked3 could work under 0.83,
it's confirmed that it could not work under 0.92.
You don't need unrevoked. This update.zip is applied using the stock recovery.
Hi lollylost100,
I'm just trying your instructions above to recover my desire.
I don't seem to get anything on the screen at any stage of the above.
Is this correct?
If so, I must just be pressing the wrong buttons in the wrong order as I've not been able to recover my device.
Well if you downgraded using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745903 then you should be able to upgrade using the method in first post. Nothing will be displayed on the screen. You just have to follow the instructions without the screen.
I downgraded by creating a gold card and then running the ruu.exe for 1.21.
When I could not get the screen working I applied
RUU_Bravo_H3G_UK_1.22.771.1_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127568_signed
in the same way.
When I tried to downgrade using the RUU for a SLCD version, I get the bootloader incorrect version.
Am I screwed?
Try the HBOOT downgrade method again and then apply the fix in the first post.
It's because the file from first post is: OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8-1.21.405.2_release4dua3bcrut4wrv30.zip
2.09.405.8-1.21.405.2 - from 1.21.405.2 to 2.09.405.8 (WWE).
I have a goldcard I created at the start of all this but I can't create a new one as I get 'failed to get CID' using gold card tool 0.0.5.
I'm guessing this is because the device is not in the correct mode anymore?
Do I need to generate a new goldcard image based on where I am ?
Well done lollylost100!!!
My phone is okay but thanks just the same. I'm sure a lot of people will find this very useful.

You need to read more carefully
edit: well damn you for being faster!
okay, now i know where is the update.zip.. after applying the update.zip, how many minutes should i wait? for the installation?
i dont have to be rooted right and isnt glodcard is only for branded Desire? cos, installing rom spos to be rooted and use ClockWorkMod? hmm. sorry for being such a noob. im just panic please..
Theoretically goldcard is only for branded phones. You don't need to be rooted. You should wait about 30 mins after applying update.zip just to be on the safe side.
Very nice. Well done!
Congrats to everyone with working screens now

Hi yuzz..nice too see Bruneian in this forum, i thought i'm the only one...sry for the off topic
Talz, do you have this kind of problem to?
Some extra information:
It is also possible to recover using a stock RUU. This may be useful if you want to run 2.1 instead of upgrading to 2.2, or you want to upgrade later.
The RUU that is compatible with SLCD phones is here:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...1.00.32U_4.08.00.09_release_137222_signed.exe
To run this, make sure your goldcard is inserted and start the phone in fastboot mode (hold back key and power button).
If you get a 140 error when running this, you will probably have to use the update.zip method for FroYo (of course if you do want FroYo you don't need to worry about this).
You don't mind if I include this in first post?

[Q] OTA update to Android 2.3.4 problem

Hi,
I installed Installing S-off, ClockWork accroding this tread as preparation to ROOT my device. Actually i did not ROOT it.
Today i downloaded new OTA Android 2.3.4, backup and prepare to install. After reset installation process started but never finished. progress bar disappeared and only little green android body and warning sign in triangle stayed for for long time and nothing to happens.
I am not know about install something else to my device except Revolutionary.io mentioned in tread.
I can ONLY finish this state only by get off battery. :-( so i cant instal new Android 2.3.4 to my device.
Any hints how to install? or how to continue.
thanx so much,
Ondrej
Hi
I had exactly the same problem as you.
The simplest solution is to go back S-ON
Put on the update and then go back to S-Off
Simples
(BTW: If I am wrong then please let me know just don't be too angry )

I'm not sure if You can go back to S-ON if the mobile stops at boot and ther's no recovery installed yet.
@roul174: as far as I read Your post: You did a nandroid backup ? Or what kind of backup ? Can You start into recovery by pressing volume-down when switching on ? If so, can You restore Your backup ?

Hi thomas,
I did NaNdroid backup by revolutionary HBoot.
Fortunately, after get back battery and turn on, device started normally with no damage!
Yap i can start into HBOOT by volume down and sw. on. ;-)
and lastly i do not need to restore anything, thank the Lord!!
O.
It's good to have a backup already
And now Your mobile still shows 2.3.3 and if You try to update You get the message that there's no update available ? (would be the same as I'd got after going back to stock rom even if this version was much older)
update is @ my SDcard, version is sill 2.3.3

my opinion is to better ask Revolutionary producers to help with this... it should doesn't matter if there is Revolutionary or stock HBoot in device. this could happens any time new OTA will be dispatched, so solution to redo to SON and smth, and smth and roll back to stock ROM and ... no... there should some more elegant solution.
O.
Try to ask them, but maybe the only thing for You to do is to be patient...
After setting my mobile back to stock rom (VF RUU including HBOOT and Radio), and even after switching back to S-ON, I coudn't catch the update to 1.35.xxx in the next our.
But I choosed not to wait any longer. The only reason for me to do this was to try, if going back to stock rom (for repair or replacement) was possible. My problem to catch the update again was the old radio, which was installed by 1.27.xxx stock rom. So I updated the radio manually and installed InsertCoin again...
As long as the bootloader is working, you can always install ClockworkMod recovery through PG58IMG.zip method and install any custom ROM you like. You don't require a working system - or any system at all - for that. You can also install a stock ROM using the 'fastboot oem rebootRUU' method from the bootloader. There's never really any reason to go back to S-ON except for warranty.

Yesterday the same happened to me - HTC Sensation branded by T-Mobile Czech. I did S-Off, installed ClockWork, rooted phone and debranded. OTA update to 2.3.4 ended as you describe.
What helped me was installation of stock ROM 1.35.401.1 and then do OTA update. This time instalation was OK and bootloader says '*** LOCKED ***' and S-OFF. I did not try to install clockwork again.

okay, my problem is, that I am afraid about loose data. did you backed up you phone? if yes how. and next think is how did you choose right version of stock ROM for you device?
Thanx for advice,
O.
Once you install ClockworkMod recovery, the OTA updates won't work. You need to go back to stock recovery and OTA updates should work fine.

[Q] How to S-on after S-off with Revolutionary?

I've made S-off with Revolutionary method to upgrade my Radio, after I've made the upgrade I'm still having issues with my signal, so I'm thinking to send the phone in warranty, but I can't manage to do the S-off.
Do you have any solutions?
Alternate way to restore your phone to S-ON and stock
Hi,
I've spent the last few days digging through the internet, looking for ways to get my Desire S back to S-ON after AlphaReveX S-OFF. The reason? I need to send it in for repair due to a birth defect.
I thought I'd share the path which turned out to be successful. Remember that there's always a risk that your phone will end up bricked as a result of procedures like this. I take no resonsibility for bricked devices, this is just a statment saying what worked for me. Good luck.
My initial setup was AlphaReveX S-OFF with Clockworkmod Recovery and LBC Mod. As the ARX HBOOT can't be overwritten by the HTC update program, it has to be replaced by a HBOOT that can. Luckily I found this thread in which Igl0 provides a pretty much tailor made HBOOT for this purpose:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15493125&postcount=1.
The only problem: It couldn't be flashed in the bootloader (it would just return the message "parsed .."). After this I tried flashing through ADB, but for some reason it didn't work either. My third attempt was more fruitful - I successfully flashed engHBOOToverARX.img through fastboot (HTC drivers required which you probably already have).
Just to keep things simple I've made a zip which contains the files needed (except HTC drivers) to perform this flash. This guide assumes that you have already tried other methods and are familiar with related terms.
1. Connect phone to PC and navigate to fastboot
2. Download and extract the compressed folder attached to this post
3. I've composed a simple .bat (called "Click This") that will open a cmd prompt
and execute the command: fastboot flash hboot engHBOOToverARX.img.
4. Restart and enter HBOOT.
Click to collapse
If the file was transferred and flashed correctly, the header text in HBOOT should now read "ENG HBOOT ...".
Now you can go ahead and flash a HTC stock RUU. It will overwrite other customisations such as a custom recovery. The HTC Update failed on my first attempt (file: RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.080 5U_38.03.02.11_M_release), but luckily I found another RUU that worked (RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085 AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed). You can browse this great collection to find one that suits you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506.
As my first RUU installation failed partially, I was left with only the stock HBOOT and a non working recovery. Though, I found out that I could perform the next HTC Update attempt while in fastboot, and it was successful this time.
Cheers
Maarten
Thank you very much for the answer, I'll try this way. but before this can you tell me please if this will be a problem the fact that now I have a stock branded Orange ROM? When I did the S-off I didn't changed the ROM, I only changed my radio.

You need to provide more information and details like Settings->About Phone-> Software info Radio (Baseband),Build Number,Kernel etc
If you know what radio version you had on your phone when you got it and what you have now that would be useful.
As I believe what you're saying is that you still have the same ROM version (ORANGE) as your phone came with, but you've simply changed radio and S-OFF'd!?
Do you have a custom recovery installed ie CWM (clock work mod)?
Having a branded ROM shouldn't effect your signal reception...

Which stock Sensation XE rom has the least amount of bloatware?

Which stock Sensation XE rom has the least amount of bloatware?
The question pretty much sums it up. I just got a Sensation XE, Hong Kong model. It has a lot of crap software on it: youni sms, xda assistant, 通通电话,baidu, kuwo player, and all this other Chinese crap. I hate Chinese software with passion. If skynet was/is real, I believe it would be running a Chinese OS. Chinese software naturally tries to take over your computer or phone.
I want to switch to the stock rom with the least amount of junk on it. If it also has a good Chinese/English keyboard with handwriting input that is a plus.
Also, just to make sure I'm on the right track, this is what should be done before I can change roms, right?
1) Get S-off
2) Install Clockwork Mod
3) Get permanent root
4) Write super cid
5) Change Stock Rom

the steps are fine ..but 3rd step is not required ...and 2)better have 4EXT recovery ..its better imho and between 4 and 5 there might be one more step ..which can only be decided after you told the current rom you are having (if running gb now ..for ICS you need to flash 3.32/3.33 firmware ..then ROM)
as for the ROM ..for simple STOCK like and fully customized with bloat removed ..try ARHD, insert coin or Elegancia
Hi,
If you go through the steps you mentioned:
1) Get S-off
2) Install Clockwork Mod (Try to get a PG58IMG.zip version of it, saves having to fastboot flash it)
3) Get permanent root
4) Write super cid
5) Change Stock Rom
You could stop at step3 and manuall delete stuff off the ROM you have. OR, what I'd probably do), and as mentioned you can skip step 3 if you're installing a new ROM. Go for a WWE (World Wide English) RUU if you want to keep completely Stock, you can then run ROMcleaner to remove some redundant crap.
Look for something like: RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5_Radio_11.69. 3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_246089_signed.exe
It's ICS with Sense 3.6. The 401 in the above means it's WWE and will either need SuperCID (11111111) or HTC__001, it's completely unbranded.
You can find ROMcleaner at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217664
Thanks for the replies. I know I can root and then uninstall system apps. I don't really like doing that because you just don't know what else has been done to the rom. This Hong Kong rom won't let me use stock SMS (I know how to select default SMS program, it doesn't work on this rom) and doesn't have stock browser (it has some chinese version of Opera), is asking me if I want to invite my contacts to join all kinds of stupid networks, gets involved with my text messages, has some Chinese antivirus that keeps complaining, and all kinds of other crap. It's the worst rom I've ever seen. The WWE appears to be what I'm looking for. It's unbranded and shouldn't have carrier or region specific stuff. Youtube and other apps that don't ask me questions I can deal with.
I want root, for all of it's obvious benefits. I usually run stock, rooted and custom kernal with GPU overclock. But I'm not so sure I like sense, but I want to try a cleaner rom before I decide on sense.
I'm guessing I don't need to do the OTA update before I start the process. I also saw there were some special procedures for the latest ICS. I'll deal with that bridge when I get there. For now I just need a clean rom that doesn't bombard me with useless Chinese crap.

There are a few WWE GB ROMs out there, the one I mentioned is pretty slick as it's ICS which seems to work better IMHO.

http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Pyramid
The OP has filefactory as the repository but it never worked for me so I gave up on it, looks like others had the same issue.
Just get a Europe one xxx.401.xxx. Avoid 1.24 if you want to go through OTA updates, I had issues with that, might have been me but .....
The ROMcleaner thing I mentioned is pretty good at removing the HTC extra stuff.
Of course, there are a few very nice custom ROMs out there. I was using Virtuous Inquisition (AOSP look and feel based on Sense but de-sensed as much as possible). I've not tried ARHD/IC and some of the others for a long time so can't comment on them.
Have fun and GL on your quest.
EDIT:
P.S. after applying the RUU you'll need to re-install CWM (again easiest was is if you have a PG58IMG.zip version of it) and then apply the root. It looks like the best root at the moment is SuperSU (reading some posts here from EddyOS).
Thanks again. I'm downloading:
RUU_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.105_R2_Radio_11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_253443_signed.exe
Now that I look again the 3.33 version is available, I probably should have downloaded that.
I've already got: ADB drivers, HTC Sync, HTC driver, java, pg58img(recovery.img), CMW 5.0.2.0, revolutionary-0.4pre4, su-2.3.63-efgh, and the unbrick stuff in case something goes wrong. Once I finished downloading the firmware I should be ready to go. I'll double check that all the files are good, re-read all the instructional threads, and then get started. My phone doesn't have a warranty, so I have to make sure everything is done correctly the first time.
I also found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Will I need to flash this as well?
HTC phones are so much more complicated compared to the other phones I've rooted and flashed. On my Huawei phone you plugged the phone in to the computer, copied two files, and you were rooted and had CWM installed.

The 3.32 contains the 1.27.0000 HBOOT which can be unlocked (just done it myself). The 3.33 contains 1.29.0000 which at the moment cannot be unlocked.
As you're already S-OFF it probably doesn't make much difference. I'm on 3.32 at the moment, I don't know what the differences are between 3.32 & 3.33, I assume minor bug fixes.

Unless you go back to HBOOT 1.18.00 or earlier revolutionary can't help to S-OFF, as you're already S-OFF you shouldn't need it.
Does the PG58IMG.zip you mention contain CWM 5.0.2.0 ?, I usually keep a copy about called PG58IMG-CWM5020.zip, then change the name when I want to install it. The reason I ask is that PG58IMG.zip is a generic name and can be used for many things. You'll need to pop the uSD card when it asks you to reboot.
As far as SU is concerned, look at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053

No the RUU is self contained and includes the firmware/radio. You might want to install HBOOT 1.27.0011 afterwards, IRC it allows fastboot commands. I think it's in that thread.

I know HTC seemed to have created hassles. I had an early Sensation and waiting for someone to work out how to S-OFF was a real pain.

EDIT
REMEMBER to take a nandroid backup before you start, just in case ! Also remember that nandroid backups don't include HBOOT or Radio so if you need to revert you'd need to get them. Take a note of the existing baseband/radio & HBOOT.

Good point. I'll add that to the list of steps so I don't forget.
1) Setup ADB/fastboot
2) Get S-off
3) Install Clockwork Mod
4) Backup via CWM!!!!
5) Get permanent root
6) Write super cid
7) Change Stock Rom
Unfortunately the rom didn't download correctly, so looks like I won't be installing the rom tonight.

The nandroid backup is via ClockworkMod, not certain what you're backing up through ADB/fastboot. Guess you could get Radio/Recovery etc. Never tried it myself, I like a simple life
There is no point applying SuperSU until after you have installed the new Stock ROM. You can change the CID directly with fastboot, it doesn't need root for that.
Shame about the download, at least the steps look about right.
Eek, I thought you already had S-OFF ? What HBOOT are you on at the moment ? If it's 1.18.0000 or earlier revolutionary.io is perfect, if it's later it's a different process.
Note that when you install the new stock rom via RUUxxxx.exe, it'll splat the custom recovery so it'll need to be re-applied.
Umm, I booted into HBOOT to get my HBOOT version and at the top of the screen it says:
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT 1.17.008
RADIO-10.11.9007.15_M
That mean I already had S-OFF, right? Well that was easy.
Actually the phone was smuggled into China to avoid taxes. The sellers probably had to get S-OFF to put a Chinese language rom on there. Which also would explain all the extra bloatware, probably was installed by the same people.
Also, I wasn't able to pull the images through ADB. Have to wait until after rooted.
UPDATE: Installed CWM, backing up now, then root. So far so good. I'll probably have to settle for using Titanium Backup to remove the unwanted apps for now. The second try at downloading the RUU also failed.
UPDATE: Rooted, through it probably was already rooted. Also checked the CID and it was already 11111111. Thanks Chinese smugglers. You did all the work for me. Now to finish uninstalling all the crap you put on my phone.
So actually, the only work I did was install the SU and backup my system.
Nice to see it going smoothly for you, and remember if you want to install ics, you need to flash a ics firmware 3.32 or 3.33. Or you'll be in a boot loop.

LOL
As you say that was easy.
There are other sites that you can download 3.32.401 from as it's fairly common, have a look.
As you have a nandroid backup that you can recover back to if needed you can also try ROMcleaner.
I'm going to try a Jelly Bean ROM tomorrow so my nandroid backup will be vital )
A really nice fairly lightweight ROM is Virtuous Inquisition. As I said it's AOSP look and feel but has Sense backend, it's been de-sensed as much as possible.
Anyway Have Fun.

The RUU will contain everything you need and update firmware, Radio, Recovery, HBOOT, ..... and of course the ROM.
Remember it'll flatten the ROM so all saved messages, WiFi details etc. will be lost.
If for some reason you need to revert back to your existing ROM you'll need to downgrade the firmware to 1.17.0008, including the radio. I doubt you'll bother though when you're on 3.32.

If it's that urgent you should spend time familiarize yourself with the search button. There is Asskicker's guide how to flash roms with s-on in the general forum. Plus I gave you a link to RUU's in the other thread you posted in.

Hi
I dont understand what u saied??
What can I do?

[Q] [OneSV cricket k2_plc_cl] boot problems after moonshine attpemt 2

I have a one SV on cricket (US)
K2_PLC_CL (s-on) still
Ok so it was all stock from store. Tan I did this in order:
1.) Unlocked bootloader from HTC dev...
2.) (flashed) Installed CMW v6.0.2.8 via ADB
3.) MADE BACKUP with CWM
4.) Rooted by flashing a zip via CMW (worked great)
5.) tried moonshine.io for s-off tried twice. Failed
-program (distiller) closed after saying "moonshining 1...2...3...to 10)
-now on boot it gets to "Htc
I booted into CMW and retored that backup i had before any rooting or s-off etc... but it still hangs :silly:
Should I try the hboot option to restore? (I thought CMW backup was like a complete nand backup. Which should be bullet proof right?)
Thanks for looking guys! I have no communication as of now I just want to make calls at least
This is my first android device and I always like getting to know my devices from the inside, the iphone BS was too much haha. I gues i dont really need s off or super cid if it means no phone. but why not if it works.
Did you have ICS or JB, when you have tried S-off?
Please remember, as long as you are S-on you must flash the boot.img with fastboot commands (also, if you are restoring a backup and you did a full wipe)! If you have a cwm backup, boot.img should be inside of your backup folder.
Did you wipe everything before your restore? Maybe fragments of moonshine still there.
Did you try TWRP recovery?
[HTC oneSV boot hang, FIXED] THANKS!!
LOL I had no idea the boot.img had to to be manually flashed, thank you very much it work s great now!
This time I cleared/wiped data AND cache. it still hanged and wont boot. Than I re tried using CWM again to restore (still hangs). than I flashed boot.img THAT DID THE TRICK after "fastboot reboot".
BTW major fail on my part; I was rooting and moonshining for JB it turns out I have ICS (i forgot to update) now that you mentioned it hehehe
I had 4.0.4 sense 4.1. I think that is why everything went to hell...
Alright Ill try moonshine after the update to JB 4.1.2 if that fails than Ill try the facepalm.
One last question; if i do update to JB 4.1.2 and achieve s-off could I use that CMW backup to always go back to ICS 4.0.4? (just incase I ever wanted to get SUPER CID and get JB 4.2.2) I wonder if super cid works with k2-PLC-cl.... Ill try it when I get find the funds a better phone to risk a brick
-Thank you sir!
Ok, lets bring a bit light into these darkness:
- Facepalm S-Off only works, as long as you did not achieve the JB update!
- You can restore a ics cwm backup, also when you are on JB and S-Off, but
- Restoring ics from a backup is not the same, as you where on ics before the update.
Thats because of the updated hboot (ics-> hboot 1.0; jb-> hboot 2.0). In hboot 2.0 the Supercid/Facepalm exploit is fixed. You can still get Supercid under hboot 2.0, but you must do moonshine S-Off before.
So, at all you must think about, what you want and whats the best way to get, before updating to jb.
If this was to difficult to understand, ask again and i will try my best to explain it for you to understand.
Ok
Hum they creators of these phones really enjoy making puzzles for us don't they...
Alright so my options are:
1.) [stay on ICS]
-get super cid
-facepalm for s-off
(can I still update to JB after this and still have super cid and s-off? But that would install hbot2 wouldnt it? so....)
I think I want method 2↓
2.) [update to JB]
-use moonshine to get s-off
-some how get super cid? (I dont really need super cid but it would be nice to know I have it just in case)
-profit
//edit//(ohh yes, once on JB hboot v2, if i have s off and on hboot2 could I go back to hboot1 along with ICS should i need to)
Any ways thank you again
1. Right, you can update and both will stay.
2. Right, after S-Off you should be able to change SuperCid. But it should be said, that its a very risky operation and phone can be bricked very easily if you are doing something wrong.
And for your edit: You can restore a ics backup, but without a RUU it is difficult to bring back hboot 1. Only a backup of it will solve this. Recoveries usually don't backup hboot.
SV ICS super cid
I know this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2264322
says to do super cid on original stock, but could I just go ahead and HEX my cid with my ICS that is unlocked/rooted/custom-recovery?
Do I have to un-do all of that to change the CID? or is that just good technique? [im also on cricket ics 4.0.4 if it matters, k2_plc_cl]
Thank you very much! I wish to change my cid right now but ill wait and see what you say if it saves me from a brick
than I'm off to s-off for all the goodies that follow haha.
I don't think, that this will be important, because SuperCid is located in a partition which has nothing to do with root or recovery.
alrighty than
haha wrong link in previous post I meant this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26516911#post26516911

Alright its late and I'm not going to flash it yet ill wait to see what you make of this:
I have used hxd many times for xbox/psp/etc so i know how it works... it found 3 instances of my CID
(some info omitted as the 'x' char)
Code:
maincid=CRICK001xx.xx.cidlist=CRICK001.xx.xx.rid=105.xx.xx.modelid=PL8xxxxxx.xx.xx.report=com.xx.xx.skulist=1xxx.xx.xx.taskid=30xxxx.xx.xx.mainsku=1xxx.xx.onecid=1.xx.cwkey=CRICK001.ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-htc //more stuff after........
Im assuming only the first instance "maincid=CRICK001" needs to be 11111111
(or should all 3 instances of "CRICK001" be changed to 11111111)
Ill give it a go after work tomorrow when Im confident that my modifications wont render my phone as a door stop.
I need to buy you a beer, but the donation is in german, ill have to translate it when I get done

At this point i only can tell you about my guide and the picture inside. To be honest, i only noticed only one cid, together with imei. So maybe this helps you.
Edit:
Please, really be careful if your file/block is different than in my guide!
I'm on mobile and can't look at your code completely.
My guide for sure works for k2u & k2ul cause i did it myself at two different phones but i don't know, if cricket has changed more and i don't want your phone bricked.
Edit2:
I really not sure, if changing CID will work. Maybe you'll try the S-Off step by Moonshine after update to JB, would be better than a bricked phone!
You must also think, what do i profit from SuperCID?
K2u & k2ul can be unbranded this way, maybe they also profit from earlier updates.
But you can't use k2u/l Software on US phones, different network, so this point is useless for you. And i don't think, cricket will release their updates earlier for phones with SuperCID.
Just my two cents, now its on you to make your decision...
What i also want to say, i had help the first time i did.
It was @jmz who helped me, maybe he reads that and know more about cricket cid.
I think ill give it a go
I actually tried to contact him and others, but since im so new I can't send PMs (they send but nothing is in my sent box. link it never happened) so I guess unless JMZ stumbles upon this thread thats it.
As for me I don't think it would brick my phone (like a real brick) if all else I could just boot into recovery and flash back my backup stuff right?
Or if i screw up would it not even allow recovery / shell? Although a brick would permit me to buy a better popular phone
If i try it all post more details on it for other cricket users.
This is modifying the bootloader. If you do something wrong, the phone wont boot. Not in recovery, not in OS, bricked.
PS. @Gain_Medium
If you write a xda username with an @ before, the one will be notified, the he is mentioned somewhere
Side note: I don't believe that there is any reason for super cid on a cricket us carrier, unless you plan on traveling to Europe, Asia, or anywhere out of the continent.
Yes, it's cool to have accomplished superCID. But there is really no benefit here in the US, if you plan on maybe using a different service plan provider, you'll still need to unlock your SIM, even if you do achieve superCID without bricking.
Good luck with your decision. I hope to read your updates on what you have chosen. And how everything goes for you.
THESE ARE ONLY MY THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS. NOT TRYING TO SWAY YOU AWAY FROM ATTEMPTING ANYTHING.
but please research superCID for cricket mobile and see what you find.
Pros vs Cons
