I have tried to use root explorer to edit the build.prop, but I found that I can't add a new line to add something at the bottom of it. The bottom of it just has the words "dalv", and I can't add new line. Anyone can help me?

The only way to edit the build.prop on the newer LG phones is to copy and edit it on your PC with Notepad++ or some other editor. Than copy it back to your phone and copy it to system folder with root explorer. Don't forget to change permissions to rw -r -r.

Can anybody please (that are running a default Sensation ROM) copy and paste their build.prop? I need it so I can edit the settings to get apps in the marketplace. Thanks!

You can download whatever ROM you need the build.prop file from to your computer and open the zip file to drill down to the /system/build.prop file.
I have a rooted AT&T LG G2, trying to add two lines to the bottom of my build prop list so I can edit the "type" setting on my APN, it's currently greyed out. None of the editor apps that I downloaded from the Play store are letting me add the two lines. Can open the build prop file but nothing happens when I start typing. Have tried Build Prop Editor, ES File Explorer and Root Explorer, switched R/O to R/W, same deal with all of the apps. Any ideas on what the issue is?
How about you copy the build.prop to your computer and edit it using notepad++
Sent from my LG-D800 running stock kk, rooted with philz using XDA app

I will try that. Thanks.
I was able to fix this issue by using SQ Lite Editor from the Play store.
Can you describe how you use SQLite?

I don't have a computer. I changed apk to zip and unzipped it. Then I used Axel xml/editor viewer to change things. Then saved it and compressed file to zip then changed to apk. I tried using Zip Signer from app store. I still get the same parsing error when I click app to install.
What do I do to fix it ? apk editor pro works and installs the modded app but won't load the modded app to change things again so I don't want to use that.
Anyone have an answer ?
Try this process, instead. It works famously for me.
First, copy the .apk to a safe place just in case!
1. Extract your .apk to a folder.
2. Edit what you want.
3. Open up your original .apk in an archive manager (7zip, WinRAR).
4. Navigate to the directory where your edited files will go while in the archive manager.
5. Drag-and-drop your edited files into the archiver window which has the .apk open. Click "OK" if it asks if you're sure.
6. Close that window, ADB push it to /[wherever], and install.
Done! :good:

I said I don't have a computer. I can't do that.
I read the problem is the apk is lot aligned. Can I run commands in a Terminal Emulator on my phone ?
1. Compress back to zip. 2 sign zip. 3 change to apk. 4 zipalign apk.
How do I zipalign ? I tried spme things I read for commands but don't know if I'm doing it right.

Oops. Missed that part.
I have no experience with the commands you are referring to, therefore I cannot help you.
Sorry.

I don't know how to do the commands or which ones. I tried the ones shown but didn't do anything. I don't know if I did it right.

For reading all the xml files I use Axel (XML Editor / Viewer)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...aystore&pcampaignid=APPU_pzkdVL_aBcmONsKggsgE
You have to click open as on xml and choose axel then click Save As... save it somewhere with the same name as the file name as it is.
then copy the saved file into the folder of where you got it from and overwrite it. Make sure name is same. Now open the saved xml again in Axel ans now you can modify it, then click Save before exiting it.
For changing other things like button images I haven't done that.
I changed what app says inside and what some buttons says. The Strings.XML file is where buttons are or some other things
there's one called APK Editor Pro but it only lets you change app one time. It won't load modified one.
Here, https://play.google.com/store/apps/...aystore&pcampaignid=APPU_pzkdVL_aBcmONsKggsgE
is anyone able to tell me how to fix it ? How to get the apk aligned not using a computer ?
Hi all,
I am working on aosp and have two questions about build.prop.
1) Normally, build.prop file is located to /system directory. I'd like to create custom build.prop file and save it to different directory. For example, I have tvconfig directory and want to create it in here. Could I read properties from /tvconfing/build.prop via SystemProperties?
2) Could I use different name for prop file except build.prop for example mycustom.prop
thanks in advance

Not sure if it would work, but one idea to try is creating a symlink from the file you want, to the build.prop file. If it works, you could also rename the file. Just an idea? I use this technique for the hosts file myself. see the code in https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...osts-diamondjohn-host-builder-script-t3872728
The next choice would be a magisk module.
I need help with a Custom recovery for Fero Royale LTE

You can't really do that but you can make custom Changes or specs to the build.prop, like improve Speed or So, increased or reduced screen size fake android version etc

I understand that I can't move build.prop file to different directory except /system directory. Well! Can I do that create mycustom.prop file in different directory and read any property from it via SystemProperties?
