Try wiping. Data for play store I've had a few problems with the play store and if that doesn't work backup your photos and all the important stuffs and do a factory reset

Tried wiping and tried deleting google account and reboot. Both didn't work for me. I'll just backup and do a factory reset.
Thank you guys anyway!!

after ****ing around with a google wallet exploit for my S3 which I probably shouldn't have done (build.prop modding?)...the google play store home page throws a dreadful error of "error retrieving information from server DF-PFA-02" I cleared the app cache for the play store, google services framework, tried to remove my card on google wallet, re flash, wipe everything. Still throws this error. And this error code is not very known either, so my searching in google was cut short...especially the "DF-PFA-02" error
it works if i downgrade the play store to the android market, AND it works if I use my other google account. AND the new 4.0 "phonesky" apk play store homepage works
due to certain reasons, I would like to keep my old play store version, before the 4.0 overhaul
I can download apps and apparently update them..I just can't openly browse anymore D:

I am getting the same error on the AT&T S4. I have no idea why this is happening but it's really annoying.

Also getting the same error on the AT&T S4. Just started happening now. Of course it happens right as I'm trying to download Tapatalk to peruse xda.
Seems common for some reason. Happening to me as well on the Verizon S3.

Install the newest version and it fixes it.
Because the old version is exploitable with in-app purchases, so Google is forcing you to get the new one, so its not just happening to me.
But my other Google account works fine with it?..

Thanx for pointing out the obvious and I take some blame for that.
Yes, I read the last two post before posting but I can see how I didn't make that clear when I asked the question.
I meant to ask: did you install the new playstore (which still isn't available to the public via an update) to fix the problem OR did you find a solution to fixing the current version?

Hi all,
I am getting "rpc:s-3 error retrieving information from server" on every app when i try to download or update. I have tried clearing the data on play store, download manager, and google services and rebooting but it did not fix it. Has anyone found a fix for this?
I am on the stable release of 10.2 CM from Dec 2 and have the latest gapps.
Thanks
Anyone?
Try going Settings>Accounts>Google> Tap your account> Three dots in the upper right (or press menu button) "Remove Account" ... then readd your account .. then clear Play store cache and data and try it

Thanks! That got it! :good:
No need to remove the Google account on this problem. It suffices to:
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All
Google Play Store -> Clear data
Google Service Framework -> Clear data
Reboot
Found at http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/59861/error-retrieving-information-from-server-rpc-s-3

I tried all mentioned above , removed account, added back, cleared data & cache, rebooted but still am getting the same error on my Samsung S3

Same here. I've had this issue for over 2 months now. Google keeps saying it is a "known issue" for some. I have tried absolutely everything possible. Everything. I get it on my GS4 and my Nexus 7. I can not download anything or update anything. This is becoming very very irritating.

This may sound stupid, but changing my Google password and re-signing in on my phone actually made the error go away.
Hope that helps.

Aww that's unfortunate
Ok, here's another idea, have you recently updated "Google Play Services"? It appears that it has been updated on 12/21/13. Perhaps it has the fix?

I have tried that solution also. BUT!, About an hr ago it started notifying me that I had updates. Have not seen that in over 2 months. Opened up the play store, and it has mysteriously started working for me on both my devices! Woohoo! Hopefully Google has figured out what when wrong for users like myself and a lot of others and will start pushing out the sync fixes. :highfive:

turn off you internet
go to settings > application > select Google play store and Google play service > clear cache
then turn on the internet .

I've tried every suggestion out there (including those in this thread) for fixing the RPC:S-3 error and I haven't had any success. All apps install or update successfully except Flipboard, Gmail, Google Play Books and YouTube - they always get the RPC:S-3 error. The only other thing I can remotely think of is the fact that pertinent system apps aren't up to date or their versions aren't fully compatible with each other: Google Play Store 4.4.21, Google Play services 4.0.34 (924341-36) and Google Services Framework 4.3-757479.
Could that be the culprit? If so, how do I fix it? If not, any other ideas?
P.S. - Galaxy S III with Android 4.3
SOLVED!!! Finally! Not sure what the fix was exactly (since I tinkered with just everything in this session) but I think it was removing ALL Google accounts (I had 7 total) and possibly combined with toggling Sync and the clear cache & data trick. Here's everything I did:
Updated Google Play services to 4.1.32 (978161-36)
Updated Play Store to 4.4.22
Turned off Sync
Removed all 7 Google accounts
Cleared cache AND data for Google Play services, Google Play Store and Google Services Framework (I know the Google engineer said not to, but F it!)
Restarted the phone
Cleared cache AND data again for the aforementioned apps/services (I'm paranoid/anal)
Restarted the phone again
Turned Sync back on
Re-added just ONE Google account (my primary one)
Cleared cache and data again (told ya!)
Restarted the phone again
All the apps that were giving me the RPC:S-3 error have successfully updated/installed automatically. What a F'ing experience!
Well, 'til the next RPC:S-3 (or RPC:S-5:AEC-0) fiasco...
This is what i did and it fixed the issue.
Remove google account (all of them)
Un-install updates and cache what not
re-boot device.
Re add the account and don't update or anything yet.
Let your device sit for about 5 mins.
Download a random app from app store( don't update any other app yet)
after it's done downloading different app now you can update your apps
This method worked for me. Try it
I'm on 33R and already reinstalled play store. This didn't work, so I cleared data and cache of google play services, downloads, download manager and google play. But I still can't use PlayStore
If you know how to fix this without factory resetting my phone, thanks!

Sent from my A0001 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Just clear cache of Google Play Store (not services) again in settings, apps.
Happens to allot of users quite often, including me.
If that doesn't work, you might want to flash Gapps again.
Choose which bundle you want from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
This is a bit old, but it just randomly happened to me, too. Google Play Services stopped and whenever I'd reboot the phone it would stop as soon as the phone fully booted up again. I got in to clear the cache for both google play services and store and then rebooted once more and everything is working now.

Does anyone have an issue getting PvZ2 to install on their Honor 8? I had it installed, but then a recent update to PvZ2 wouldn't install properly. I removed the app and attempted to install it again, but the play store just closes when it reaches 99% downloaded. Not sure what is going on, but if you have the PvZ2 installed can you tell me what version of Google Play Store and Google Play Services are installed?
My phone is the AL10 (Chinese version) and I had to manually install the Google Play Store and Google Play Services. I have plenty of storage (45GB available) and I have reset the play store and play services by clearing the cache and data.
I think I should have mentioned that all other apps are installing fine through the play store. I only have an issue with PvZ2.

It seems that I was able to pull down the apk from apk mirror and get it installed that way. Not sure why I didn't think of that before. Not sure what's happening with Google Play, but that game is around 650MB so maybe that is causing an issue.
