[TUTORIAL][UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER][STOCK] Apply root-level mods without root - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

Hi, I'm not fairly new to this forum but I silent read from a long time ago and now I decided to share something I found.
Let's say you're tired with rooting and xposed as some apps refuses to run upon detection of either or both of those, and custom ROMs out there didn't float your boat, you decided to return to the stock. No recoveries, just a plain stock. But you need that SystemUI with netmeter, or you're too lazy to re-log in 6 different Twitter accounts onto the Twitter app you've previously backed up using TitaniumBackup or similar.
Without any words let me start:
What you need:
Obviously an unlocked bootloader since we will flash a recovery, and locked ones can't do so.
Any custom recovery, either CWM or TWRP that's fine. Don't worry about its compatibility with the stock, as it'll be wiped again (if you want)
Flashtool, it already includes fastboot for flashing stuffs, otherwise why is this called Flashtool?
Your current FTF file
OPTIONAL : AromaFM if your mods isn't a flashable zip
For TWRP you can also use its built-in file manager
Steps:
Download and set up Flashtool
After installation there will be some folders like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Install the drivers located in the Drivers folder, place your current firmware's FTF file to the firmwares folder, and for convenience, place your recovery in the x10flasher_lib folder, and rename it to something short and easy, like rec.img or similar.
Put your mods in the phone's storage/sdcard (and also your aromafm if you choose to use it).
Turn off your phone.
Open up Command Prompt (or console window of your choice, if you're not on Windows), and navigate to the flashtool/x10flasher_lib folder.
Run this on your console:
Code:
fastboot flash boot rec.img
change rec.img to your recovery's filename.
Plug in your phone with a USB cable while holding volume + button.
When done, plug it out and boot to your recovery by powering it on and pressing volume - button when the illumination bar lights up (depends on your recovery).
Apply your mods (flash mods, replace system files, remove bloatware etc.).
You may skip steps below if you change your mind to having a (compatible) custom recovery
When done turn off your phone again.
Open up your Flashtool, if asked for admin rights just say yes.
Click the bolt icon above the window, leave the Flashmode selected, and click OK
find your firmware, select it but don't flash it yet. Uncheck/check these options, you don't want to wipe your data, right?
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Now press the flash button, located on the bottom-right of the window. When a window pops out (instructions to connect your phone while holding the back button), connect your phone with the Volume - pressed.
Wait the flash to finish, and unplug your phone.
Now you have your mods back and your app datas restored 'without root'~!
NOTE: I've done this on my Xperia E, for other phones I can't yet verify if this method works, so if anyone is interested to try this out go ahead and don't forget to report it back to me whether it's worked or not~

Root help
---
Do you have a recovery there? Maybe try making a backup and flashing a root binary from a different device (galaxy for instance). I heard it sometimes works and if not you have a backup.
BTW - How is this device? Seems solid?

I'm getting a 'Download Warning' on my PC
It says:

Do you still want to go on downloading anyway?
Any ideas what to do from here?

Thanks for the offer. I've sent the phone back
3G didn't work at all. I'll wait until the next one arrives and start the process again.

CWM Recovery & Root
I have successfully flashed a CWM recovery and root script on this phone. Everything works. Here's how its done:
Here is the "About" under settings on the phone that i have done this on:
First Download This:
http://www.mediafire.com/?eq9b28ua89wh8d1
This RAR Archive contains everything needed.
MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS ON JELLYBEAN. [4.1]
1: Installing CWM Recovery
Extract the downloaded zip and run the flash tool. (Flash_tool.exe)
In the flash tool, click where it says "scatter-loading", and browse for "MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" [It is in the: \CWM_recovery_4.1\recovery folder that was included in the downloaded archive]
Now, before flashing, MAKE SURE "RECOVERY" is the only thing ticked in the list of things to flash.
(Mine had two things ticked by default, just make sure the only thing that is ticked is the recovery.)
When the scatter file is loaded and only recovery is ticked, make sure your phone is off and the battery is out. Also make sure it is unplugged from the computer.
Now in the flash tool, click the download button at the top.
*Note: If you get: "Not ALL images are correctly loaded, which may cause boot up issue!
Do you still want to go on downloading anyway?", Just click "Yes"
Plug in your phone with the battery out and wait for it to finish flashing. If the flash tool doesnt detect the phone, it means the drivers probably aren't installed. install the drivers [included in download (MT6575_USB_VCOM_drivers)] and wait for it to finish flashing
When it flashes, you will get a popup window with a circle, showing that it has completed. you can now unplug your phone.
CWM recovery is now installed on the phone. Time to root!
2: Rooting VIA CWM Recovery
Copy the "CWM-SuperSU-v0.93_tirannozaurus.zip" to your phone's SD card.
Boot the phone into recovery. [hold volume+ and power while the phone is off]
Choose "Install zip from sd card" [using volume and power buttons] and navigate to "CWM-SuperSU-v0.93_tirannozaurus.zip"
Flash it, and then reboot the phone. You should now have root:
If you follow all of this properly in order, this should work! i am not responsible for anyone bricking their phone. Doing this is all on you.
*NOTE*
If your play store is not working [If it says there is no connection], Goto your phone's settings and set your date and time. This fixed it for me.
Also, credit to the original authors of the files. I have simply taken the required files and archived them for your convenience.

[TUTORIAL/GUIDE/HOW-TO] Full guide on how to flash a custom ROM on your Galaxy S6

~ Quick First Note: If anyone's here from the Telegram Group, I'm Mark y'know.
~ This guide considers you have the latest MM 6.0.1 base
Step 1: Rooting your device
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Rooting your phone will void your warranty, so if you wanna do this make sure you don't have any warranty for your device, or don't, because today nobody cares about warranty!
1. Go to autoroot.chainfire.eu and download the zeroflte version
2. Put your phone in download mode by: Turning it off, pressing Power + Home + Vol Down keys at the same time
3. If it asks for anything, which it should, press the Vol Up key
4. Make sure you have the drivers installed on your PC, if not, please, download them and install them
5. Plug your phone in your PC, I suggest using the original cable, just so y'know, nothing explodes
6. Download a program called Odin, make sure to download any that is V3+, but I recommend the latest
7. Open Odin, select the AP option on the side, and locate your file, usually called CF-Auto-Root-something.tar.md5
NOTICE! This will restore your recovery to Stock
8. Load the file and click start
9. Don't worry if your device reboots constantly a few times, and takes a little longer to boot, it's normal
10. Check if you have the SuperSU app installed, if yes, you're all good
Step 2: Flashing a custom Recovery
Flashing a custom recovery is the thing that's gonna make it possible to even flash anything
1. Go to http://www.pocketpc.ch/samsung-gala...builded-thehacker911-android-6-0-1-g92xf.html and select wether you have the S6 or the edge
2. Do the same process as with the rooting process, though it will not automatically boot into the recovery, you have to do it yourself, but don't do it yet
Step 3: Unlocking your bootloader
You may be able to root your device and flash a custom recovery, but you aren't gonna be able to flash a custom ROM without unlocking your bootloader
1. Download the arter97 recovery, it's actually a modded TWRP, so it's gonna replace Philz, but you can always reflash Philz, because I heard that TWRP has some mounting issues, and your phone won't boot afterwards
2. Flash it the same way you flashed the CF-AutoRoot package and the Philz package
Step 4: Flashing a custom ROM
Before we flash, it's important that you consider your options. If you like performance, I'd recommend any Lite ROMs like: WanamLite and XtreStoLite. If you like to customize your device, I'd recommend OZOP, Griffin or CarHD. If you're a battery freak, try these: TN (Search on YanDisk) or Alexis.
1. Download the desired zip, also look if there's a second package, they'll often have these names in them: Update, Add-On, Aroma Add-On
2. Put the zip, or two zips in your Download folder in your Internal Storage
3. Power off your phone and boot in the recovery mode, do this by: Pressing Power + Home + Vol Up keys at the same time
4. When you're in the recovery mode, mount these partitions: Data, Cache, System
NOTICE! Don't mount the Internal Storage, or you'll erase your photos, downloads etc.
5. Select the option Clean to Install a new ROM
6. After that, locate your ROM, persumably in your Download folder, and select to install it
7. If nothing happens and you get a buttload of text displayed, that means your ROM is installing
8. If a graphical setup launches, that means the dev has considered to give you some options, choose wise
9. After the flash don't restart the phone if it prompts you
10. Wipe Cache and Dalvik/ART Cache, otherwise you might cause your phone to be in a softbrick state
I have a doubt, I always see G920F written in some things, but my device is G920I. Is there any problem I use anyway?

[ROOT] TWM Amazing X3s

I understand this is an old phone and probably almost useless as well, but this is a backup phone I happen to have around. Being an entry level phone, there's not a lot of RAM and internal storage, it slows down massively over time. Feeling frustrated, I decided to root the phone so that I can remove unwanted apps and install trimmer.
This is a very brief guide for rooting the TWM Amazing X3s in hope that it would be useful for others as there's very little information about rooting this device, it also serves as a record for myself in case I need to root it again in the future. I've already tried flashing TWRP, but I was never able to boot into TWRP and it appears to be restored back to the stock recovery everytime.
What you'll need:
Stock ROM
Magisk Manager
fastboot (there's plenty of resources online describing how to install/use it)
Android USB driver (there's plenty of resources online describing how to install/use it)
You must unlock the bootloader before applying root, be aware that this process will wipe your phone clean, make sure you have backed up everything first:
In "About phone", repeatedly tap "Build number" until developer options are enabled.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
In developer options, enable "OEM unlocking"
Power off the phone
Press and hold volume up + power until you see the bootloader
Move the cursor to fastboot mode with volume up, select it with volume down.
Once you get into the fastboot mode, execute the following:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
You'll be prompted with this:
Confirm unlocking with volume up
Execute
Code:
fastboot reboot
Root instructions:
Install the Magisk Manager apk
Extract boot.img from the stock ROM you downloaded and copy it to your phone
Open up Magisk Manager, tap install. When prompted with options for installation, select "Patch Boot Image File". Browse to boot.img you copied previously.
Magisk will generate a patched_boot.img file under the same location as boot.img, copy it to your PC.
Boot into fastboot mode again
Execute
Code:
fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
Execute
Code:
fastboot reboot
Once the system boots up, open up Magisk Manager to check if it's been installed.
Congratulations! Your phone is now rooted!
For those who are lazy, you can skip steps 2~4 and download patched_boot.img instead.

[How-To] Flash Stock Rom (Ulefone Armor 6)

In this guide, I will be showing you how to flash back to the stock rom using the SP Flash tool.
Disclaimer:
I am not responsible if you damage, brick, or willingly alter your phone in any way shape or form blah blah blah, you get the point.
Prerequisites:
Make sure you have drivers installed, here.
To begin with, open up the SP Flash Tool.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then add the, "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin" file in the, "DA file name" section.
You have now added the, "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin" File. Now, add the scatter file with the partitions to flash stock files in.
This is important key to the process, so pay attention. Before we "find" the phone in download mode/upgrade mode, you have to turn the phone off, and hit the scan button first before plugin in your phone to the computer. Click yes to begin the scanning process.
Now plug in the phone to the computer, using your USB Type C cable, and then SP Flash Tools program will detect the phone, and put it in Download/upgrade mode.
Now that the program has placed the phone in Download/Upgrade mode, you have to unplug the phone from the computer, in order to verify/scan the files needed to flash.
Once the program finished verifying the files, you can then plug in the phone once more. It will then begin flashing the phone.
This is now the final screen you will see when the phone has completed flashing. Once you see, "DL(userdata)ok" that means the phone successfully completed flashing. All you have to do now, is press the power button until the phone powers on.
A few clarifications that may save some folks from the headache I just dealt with:
Before starting, ensure you have downloaded the stock image for the 6 or 6e from the Ulefone website or from the links on the main thread. Power the device off.
1. The MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin file will be located inside of the same directory as the flashing software. The scatter file will be inside of the archive the stock image is in. Make sure you have the correct one if you are using the 6e.
2. If you get an error when selecting the scatter file, pull the folder "Armor_6E_RF3_V01_user_20190516" (name will vary) out of its parent directory. (I do not know why this works). The flashing software will pull up a command line when the file is successfully added.
3. After selecting scan, respond "Yes" to the prompt that comes up before connecting the phone. The phone will not display anything while in download mode.
4. After the message, "scan success!" appears, select "Start all" to start the checksum verification process. Once it has finished, plug in (or unplug, then re-plug) the device and take a deep breath.
Hopefully this information based off of my experience is helpful.
