Hi,
Does the nexus s have the hardware to function as a fm transmitter for use in the car? Found this mentioned in some of the nexus one forums. Nothing concrete though.

none, not even play radio
good morning
I'm wondering if there is a kernel/rom that allow to listen fm radio off line.
thanks
Nexus s doesn't support FM radio
IT doesn't have the hardware. Use an app over wifi or.... Hmmm... Use a radio. What are the like 3 dollars for a battery powered portable radio. Honestly. I :banghead:

Buy one of those headsets that has a built in radio receiver, because NS doesn't have a radio for, well, um, radio. according to the laws of conservation, we can't just materialise a radio out of nothing/nowhere, no unless you're magic, NS won't have a FM radio.

Hardware it's inside the BT chipset, but it's missing the necessary wiring to make it work, as well the kernel driver...

Before i flashed jellyfirebean i had the stock android 2.3 that came with my HTC Desire S, As i used the radio app, i noticed that it used the headphones as an aerial rather than relying on an internet connection, however now that i have flashed a new rom that option is no longer available to me, the ability and hardware still exists but i have no app to be able to do this.
would it be possible for someone who is on the stock rom to just export it over for me into an apk, or could anyone just reccomend a radio app that can work without using an internet connection
sorry if i have posted this in the wrong place i am a newbie
Search for Spiti FM here on xda or on play store. Its a good replacement for radio.

Find your station on TuneIn Radio, the Nexus 5/X don't have built-in tuners.

http://qr.ae/RLTehM I read this post and maybe it is possible if someone built the software for it
Can't get a good answer on this (not streaming, just fm)
Yes or no?
Didn't check. But since it isn't available on the U11 I'd guess the answer is no - as it is in case of many high-end devices since the last year in fact.

Well no problem as long as you can install an FM radio and an adequate service app, ain't it. Did so on my U11 as well.

I have the unlocked 64GB Translucent Blue and there is no FM radio, unfortunately.
Ok, got it now.
After 10 years with HTC I bought a LG v30.
With a fm radio :good:

How do you "install an FM radio" if the underlying OS/kernel didn't expose that hardware (and that's assuming it's enabled at SoC-level)?

Yes I know. But FM radio nevertheless needs a service App which is able to use the headphones as an antenna, as it has been the case on older devices. The old HTC Radio App had a service app working in background as well.

The U11 radio chip was disabled by HTC, like most other new phones despite requests from emergency services for non-internet radio

And as I told you it could be reactivated by some custom ROMs at least which came with the ANT+ Radio Service found on the PlayStore, as well as the old HTC FM-radio App from apk mirror. So it has to be tested if this works on the U12+ as well.

Wow, you mean you have a U11 with fm radio?

Just tried this:https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/htc-c...io-8-00-718941-android-apk-download/download/
No dice on U12+ by default (=radio is disabled either in OS or at SoC-level.)

It's at OS level, as the SoC is indeed capable of it.
