Antutu with Mahdi ROM and AK overclocked Kernel - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wonder why my opo with Mahadi latest ROM and the AK Kernel overclocked to 2.8 gives me a result of 35833 while on all stock I had 38000+
Is there anything wrong or it's normal?

It seems like cm has many performace improvements while mahadi is not (very) good optimized for the OPO.

[Q] Marmite Kernel Vs Devil's Kernel

Flashed my Nexus S with CarbonRom(Unofficial) , Now which Kernel is better and why? and can somebody also gimme the links!
Try them all. Different chips, different reactions to custom kernels (no 2 chips are exactly the same).
Here are the kernels. Download and flash the CM version because that is what works for Carbon.
Marmite: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AntDDKv-lS6IdEt6NWVkX01vNmpfbEh4MHo4eDRCbXc#gid=0
-Fastest on stock voltages and stock frequency. Overclocking needs increased voltages.
Devil: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AntDDKv-lS6IdEt6NWVkX01vNmpfbEh4MHo4eDRCbXc#gid=0
-No BLN (Backlight Notification)
Matrix: http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/matr1x/NexusSandNexusS4G/25.0
-Stable when overclocking and stock freq. Needs OC for good 4.2.2 performance.
Air kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21935053&postcount=1
-Incredibly feature rich. May make your device fast or laggy - depends on your kernel settings.
The following kernels are AOSP based. So you flash this first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245651
vta2 kernel: http://www.mediafire.com/?fd2tczcqtguk58f
-Makes your device faster because it's overclocked, but there are bugs. I cannot pin-point the exact bugs i encountered.
Der Kernel: http://goo.gl/QlIoh
-Alpha Build. May or may not be stable.
Between the kernels that I have tried, I really like the devil kernel because it seems to make my Nexus S run a lot better. For overclocking however, I use the AIR kernel.

..hmm.. To each their own, but Devil is my favorite to overclock.. but overvolting is necessary for my phone for better stability.. Devil oc's nicely to 1512mhz..
I could only overclock mine to 1400mhz when i used it and it seemed to make my phone somewhat slower. Maybe i should check the Devil kernel out one more time.
Devil is the best for me aswell, to bad it isn´t supported / improved in the last time .. but hopefully DerTeufel will find some time for that in the future !
Which version (date) of devil are you using? I use novoodoo version from 5.3.13

Same/ with voodoo.. Use devil tools to live oc the kernel to 108% and you'll get the 1512 capability..
Marmite also has MTP support.
Matr1x has it too, but Matr1x for Nexus S isn't developed anymore.
link for devil kernels

Currently using Devil and BLN actually works fine for me.
To clarify, I am using the 3.0.62 version. No problems at all so far.
I'm running CM10.2 Nightlies, should I change the stock kernel to get better battery life, or should I just stick to it?

My phone handles this frequency with devil's kernel and max voltage (1500mV) but it died unexpectedly after 4 months or so.. So you should go a bit down..

For marmite, devil, matr1x, and air kernels, you don't have to. They have corresponding kernel versions (CM/AOSP) ready for downloading.
Vta2 and Der kernels are AOSP based so you can flash them right away
do not use bigmem kernel on 4.1.2 ..go with 396 - 407mb ram

For me it's working.
I don't see huge differences with stock, but OC is up and running
Good question in op. I have same doubt.

[Q]Should I flash a kernel?

How is it going bro's and my name is Pewdiepie
Ok I am Using Cyanogenmod latest nightly I think on my Tab 2 gt - p3100 .
I want to ask should any kernel
I mean many are saying it will fix the battery drain:laugh:
But is it recommended for advanced users or only Developers
And which kernel you think is the best for battery and compatible with CM11
Please help me:highfive:
Peace and please don't hate
No you didn't have to.
I think, stock cm kernel 3.0.31 pretty much has good battery life.
Upstream kernel changes to 3.0.101 did causes battery drain and tried to resolve by devs.
However 3.0.101 have bigger free ram next 818mb, dhollmen 820mb, however agni kernel has same with stock cm kernel.
All those custom kernel offers some features which stock kernel didn't have.
Slightly different with android-andi kernel which purpose to find kernel battery drain for 3.0.101.

Best kernel to use with Stock 12S?

Stock kernel is very bad on battery & the phone is over heating a lot.

Franco
AK
Boeffla
Any of the above
I suggest Franco
There's no such thing as the best kernel. The best kernel is the one that you decide suits you and your setup after testing them yourself.

Search stable Kernel for Android 8.0

Hello,
I have since 4 Weeks Superman Rom v3.0.1. Very nice Rom. Very fast. Very smooth. Many custom settings. Sad that this rom EOL.
I have installed the SuperStock Kernel, which in Aroma included. Sometimes i have a random reboot. Which Kernel is stable? I read in any xda Kernel threads a reboot here and a rebot there. Why? I need a stable kernel. Any idea?

I recommend moro kernel from my own experience I had never a problem with the latest one that is 7.1 has a great battery life and a beast performance, stable did not see any problem (even overclocked small kernels) actually it's better than the tunder one for me it drains a lot more battery than from moro just my thoughts ^^
