Hi,
Has anyone used any Activity Trackers - Fitbit, Withings Pulse for example with the 4.2.2 firmware any success? Or do they only work with 4.4?
I use Moves at the moment but wish sony would update Xperia L to 4.3, cyanogen is a bit of hope anyway
Thanks for any replies!
No one?
Anyone tried any fitness trackers? Which one and did it work?
anyone?

Heya, I've ordered a Sony Smart Watch and was wondering, if there's a way to install common Android apps, since it's a normal android OS afaik.
hi, you install apps for the watch via the smartphones playstore. eg endomondo sports pro install on phone, install smartwatch addon and it pushes the app to the watch.
there are heaps of smartwatch apps on the playstore.
cheers
Paul
how long it's battery life could hold
Sent from RAZR MAXX on MIUI V5
It does not run android, and cannot run apps that aren't built for it
Actually, the apps run on your phone, not on the watch. That's why the connection is needed.

Its not running a normal Android OS afaik. Its running a uC/OS-II OS according to the teardown here: http://www.cmw.me/?q=node/59.
Besides, the battery wouldn't last 5 minutes, and the CPU won't be able to handle it haha.
hey folks,
i just got my new sony sw2 and was wondering if the following is possible:
i want to use my sw2 as an extended display for my sony xperia z running oruxmaps (or any other software, that is able to shout gpx-routes).
i already found "GPS Maps for SmartWatch2", but it only has navigation features.
my idea is to wear my sw2 when im mountainbiking as a navigation-system (it´s enough to have a simple map, my route and a location indicator).
any ideas?
regards,
bla
Theres a gps map on the playstore

Hello,
A few days ago I won Sony Smartwatch 1, and I don't know what to do with that device now. I don't have Sony smartphone (I use LG Nexus 4), but it won't be a problem. I'd just like to know, if apps like these available on AndroidPolice (I can't post links, for example - facebook messenger, some communication apps, GPS-supported apps etc.) designed for Android Wear will be compatible with my Smartwatch, or is it rather useless device? Maybe you've got any links to apps for that smartwatch?
Thanks!

The SW1 is useless. You can just sell it and save up and get the SW2

Thanks for your answer. In fact I don't need any smartwatch and just got it for free. I though it will run some fancy apps. That's all. Thank you :highfive:

If you already have it, just pair it with your android phone and install the necessary software for it by Sony (Smart Connect and smartwatch app) to your smartphone. Within those apps, you can actually search for the apps available for the smartwatch like gmail, call handling etc...See if they are fancy enough for you
Hi all.
I open this thread after reading and searching on all the WWW a solution on the notification problems the GW4 has.
I'd like this thread would be a repository of all the solutions tried and tips or workarounds to fix these issues.
Here following my direct experience
Gmail - every received email is not notified on the watch: no vibration. It's visible just the "notifications" dot on the left. Then, no one of the quick action is working. If I delete the email, the watch tells me to look at the phone, but the action is not taken.
I use Stark for other email accounts, not Gmail, and it's working perfectly.
Anyone of you has the same issue? Any fix for it?
Dual or Cloned apps - my phone is a Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro and I have the cloned WhatsApp. Whenever I get a message on it, the watch doesn't do nothing, not even the notification dot. It's like this app is not "seen" by the GW4 and by the wearable app.
My former smartwatch, a Ticwatch E, was correctly receiving and notifying both WhatsApp' messages.
I tried to clone the wearable app as well, but no success. I wanted to clone also the Plug-in, but there's no option in my phone for this.
Same question: anyone else has my same problem? Is there any solution?
Please share your experiences and let's try to find out the solutions!!
Thank you in advance

For cloned apps or apps from Work Profile - you can use Tasker and AutoNotification to intercept the notification, and AutoWear to produce the new notification directly on the watch from captured data. Or buy Samsung phone - they are passing all the notifications to the watch natively (exclusive feature for sams phone + sams watch)

I honestly wanted to avoid the installation of several apps for something that should work without any problems.
The wear OS made by Samsung seems really to be too much closed to all which is not Samsung, and this is not nice...

It's not a Samsung - it's a Google. Android is separating normal and work profiles as much as possible, as technically you have two separate users and they shouldn't mix. On own phones Samsung just have a backdoor for that embedded into the ROM.

It's strange because, as I wrote in 1st post, before I was using a Ticwatch connected to the phone via the Google's Wear OS app and everything was working smoothly.
Samsung doesn't allow to connect the GW4 via Wear OS app, but just its Wearable app.
In Wear OS app I was able to see WhatsApp as 2 different apps, the native and the cloned. In Samsung app just the native.
Is there any way to make cloned WhatsApp "visible" to wearable app?
I see one commenter on Sammobile says the latest update (DUJA) fixes Gmail notifications!
Hi Guys,
Please advise how can I use Samsung CameraCorol app on my Galaxy Watch 4, my mobile device Samsung Galaxy A 71, running Android 13 (OneUI 5) official. Non rooted.
So you don't have a camera app companion in the watch? I do and when I open the camera app in the watch, I can see what the phone's camera is looking at and control it.
Its this what you are looking for? I have the watch 4 and S22 ultra, both updated with last official versions, but this was available from the beginning in UI 4.1.

Yes. That's the app. But it is not available in my Galaxy Watch 4. Can I sideload from APK mirror or any link for moded version
According this:

It is possible, but I didn't see the camera companion app in the list, because it's normally already installed

But it is not available in my watch. I have already installed latest update.
It loads on the watch4 if your phone supports it. More than likely your phone does not support the companion app.
