[Completed] [Q] After sales screen digitizer - XDA Assist

Hi. This is my 1st thread here at XDA, please excuse my ignorance.
Nokia Lumia 520 running stock Vodafone ROM Windows 8.0
I foolishly bought a replacement digitizer from an eBay seller (I should have bought from a genuine Nokia spare parts distributor).
I installed the screen and it works fine until one tries to make a call, and then it goes crazy, lots of ghost input.
I have since read that the after sales screens do not work with the new firmware.
I have read a little about flashing ROMs with Nokia Care Suite. I can only find Windows 8.0 ROMs for this phone.
Does anyone know of a viable ROM that would not include the code that conflicts with the knock-off digitizer screen?
Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Just last week replaced the digitizer of my friends 521 (same phone as yours buy T-Mobile branded) I got it from eBay for 20$ and it works great for me so it could just be you got a bad product and should return to seller.
But if you are looking for custom ROMs than u would suggest looking in the windows phone 8 section found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-phone-8
And if none that suit your needs is found ask in the q&a section if anyone knows how to fix your issue with software/firmware
Best of luck!

Selling XDA with PUGS?

Hi all,
I'm thinking of getting the HP iPaq 6915 and have a question regarding selling my XDAIIi. I bought it off eBay about 3 months ago, brand new (Unwanted contract upgrade) and have since unlocked it, and put PUGS rom on it. Is it OK to sell it with this rom? Or should I put an o2 one back on it?
Thanks,
Karl
PS - I was tempted to the 6915 by the keypad and screen cover and some other stuff, including the price I can get it for.
I don't think you'll get into any legal trouble, but your buyers may not fully understand what you mean by it running a different ROM, or not be willing to try it out. To be safest and to get the best selling price, put the newest official rom on it that you can get.
Thanks mikesol. Is it ok to download the latest rom for the 2i from my-xda.com? Or should I get an original from here (If there is one)? And is there a chance I might incur any problems when replacing the rom? Would it be seen as a downgrade and cause trouble?

ATT HTC One X Hardware Problem

So recently I repaired my HTC One X's screen for the second time.. (I should have just bought a case and saved myself 120$ that I don't have) However through a course of events the power flex cable broke, the one that runs to the one off button. After some searching on the internet I was able to find the part I needed however there are two versions, one for the US and Canada HTC and another for the international versions. I have the US and Canada phone but the only places I could find the part are through OEM sources and to buy from them I need to run a company. So I was wondering would it be alright to buy the international version for the US phone? I know the actual hardware wouldn't cause any problems but I'm not sure if they would fit... The only other alternative I have is to buy a 60$ broken phone and steal the piece from that. If anyone has ideas on possible alternatives besides the options I have I am all ears.
I have links to them but I am unable to post them since I don't have ten posts.

I doubt you'll find anyone that will be able to give you a difinitive answer since there's very little chance that anyone here has bought both phones, opened them up and compared the parts. We know that the international and carrier locked versions do not have the same internals, the international one X is also a bit thicker. It would be up to you if you want to take the risk but your safest bet would be to buy the part designed for your phone model.
You're welcome to send me the links via PM and I can check them and give my best guess but like I said, it would not be a difinitive answer.

New HTC One - Should I sell it?

Hi all,
I bought the HTC One yesterday, I got a good deal cut price of £210 I'm in the UK (London). I previously had the Nexus 4, but I wanted something better looking, this phone certainly fits the bill. I posted on the suggest device thread before, most recommended the HTC One a week ago.
Today, I'm reading some threads in the HTC One section and it looks scary the amount of problems all kinds people are experiencing.
What is the root of all these problems? Is it to do with custom ROMs? I'm a simple user, I've never used anything but default/STOCK what the phone comes with.
The phone is still brand new. Should I sell it next week, get my money back and buy a Nexus 5?
If I don't update to 4.4.2 will it be safe to use?
Please advise, asap, thanks.
I'm referring to posts like cracking sounds with the speaker, loud speaker turning on by itself, purple tint on camera.

If you don't mod your phone, it's unlikely you'll run into any of the problems people here talk about. Get the Nexus 5 if you want it, but don't sell the One just because people have a lot of problems with it. It's a really great device and you just bought it so not really worth it.
There are 3 threads devoted to discussions about devices, please repost your question in one of these three threads: The what should I buy thread or the The Device Suggestion Thread or the The Device Comparison Thread.
Thanks!

[Q] Chinese smartphone? yes or no

Hello.
I have question if someone have experience with any chinese smartphones or tablets (from pandawill website for example), because they have pretty parameters with good price and i found some people like it.
What about xda users, have you any experience with it?
I've had a tablet from ainol and the specs were great. They beat the Nexus 7 (2012) out of the water.
But once I got the tablet the screen wasn't as clear and the build quality was terrible. The tablet was way slow so I returned it.
I'd say if you do want to try one find a USA seller on ebay or somewhere that accepts returns.
Chinese smartphones have great specs and overall good build quality. Any problem i saw from a chinese smartphone i saw it from a brand name smartphone so nothing is perfect. U could be lucky to find a very good one but also have bad luck to find a defective one . Luck is also a big factorvin the experience.

Z3 on Ebay

Hello all, I hope this is the right place for me to ask this question.
So I am looking for a Z3 from Ebay and I notice that most of the sellers are from China or Hongkong. The ones in the US are mostly Chinese as well. They sell either New or New other phones. Some, for example, this guy, states that the phone is brand new in box, but then have latest OS version updated. Sounds a little bit suspicios, I thought the phone was shipped with Android 4, how can they update OS version without open the box?
Anyway, I'm just afraid that I might get a fake one. Anyone here has experience with those Z3 on Ebay? Should I buy? Can you give me some advice? Thanks
I bought a Z3 on eBay basically brand new only taken out of the box to look at and it was updated nothing to be suspicious about hope this helps,I'm in the uk btw
