[Q] upd_1 trojan - General Questions and Answers

Good Morning,
i want to use a newer Android Version on my Samsung Galaxy Ace and for that i want use this tutorial: [ok, i cant post links. But in this tutorial is a link for a upd_1.zip download from this site]
If i click on the link to download the upd_1.zip i get a trojan alert from avast free antivirus. Can I assume that it is a false alarm?
(Maybe i should buy a second fullversion of eset for this notebook.)
Or will each windows antivirus programm give an alarm beacause the upd_1.zip is a non windows data?

i dont know the answer to your queston, but i would try finding other methods. if they all give you an alert, its probably safe to assume that they are safe.
for samsung galxay ace, there is a website novafusion, http://novafusion.pl/downloads/
which has good files, i use them.

some exploits trigger as a virus, this is normal. just make sure you get the files from a good site like xda, so you don't get tricked and it is a virus for real.

I had previously tried that, but I could not find a download that worked, which I trust or with the correct file.

Ok thanks for that information.
And for the case that there is a real trojan in the download can it only be a Windows trojan right? I supposed that a anti virus programm for windows cant find malicious software for android.

The Solution my friend is to buy them from the market place
This is the only solution, firstly because this is XDA developers and piracy isn't tolerated
Secondly, MS encrypted the marketplace which stopped the use of these programs for any legitimate or illegitimate reasons. So, Buy them.
If you have brought them an you are wanting a backup of the XAP then this is still possible, XAPs can be made from installed apps.
decrypted official programs from marketplace

yup, this should let you backup installed apps as XAPs allowing you to install them In one go later, it also seems to backup the data sections of these apps too.
Ive yet to play with this but it seems like a good idea, I was helping a chap months ago with something like this but was PC based. Its very handy but you have to wonder if it wouldn't be better just to make a complete zune backup...
Thanks for your reply, Program Manager, all backups save score games ? ^^
If yes you are the best !

nice selection, to root that your going to need a program written in Chinese most likely since all the hardware for it is written that way but that shouldnt be too hard. before we start here
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT: by choosing to do any of the things I have written here for you, you assume full responsibility for whatever happens, I DO NOT and CAN NOT be held responsible for anything you do! I have provided you with a way to do what you asked. YOU assume full liability regardless the outcome.
1st. your gonna want to go to Google, yahoo, Bing, whatever one you choose and download a translator from Chinese to English (i assume you speak English obviously) anyways you need this to translate whatever program your gonna be using when you find it...
2. do a search online for your tablet model, be as specific as possible, version number, serial numbers, kernel version and you should find a bunch of links but they will be in Chinese ( this is what the translator is for) when you find the links in your search engine copy the writing to your translator and it should convert it to English this way you can see the description of the programs your looking at.
3. when you find one you think is the rooting software download the program and open to folder location, you should see a few folders, maybe an exe. maybe not but there should be names in Chinese on every folder, copy an paste the names to your translator until you find the name for the EXE. thats the program that runs it, you may also want to look for an instruction manual too via the same method because the actual program and script instructions are gonna be in Chinese as well but your computer should have no trouble running it you just wont be able to understand the instructions so before you actually run it for real on your device copy tose instructions to translator to see how to root your device, most likely the program is going to have choices you need to make just like and SPF program does LINUX or RSD lite, ect ect...
4. I know this is getting to be a long process but I did this with a laptop I was given 2 years ago and it worked fine after a few try's with different programs I found. you also have to make sure the software/hardware on your computer is compatible with whatever is on the tablet and the rooting program, if you cant find a rooting program thats compatible unfortunately this method wont work because the program to root will not work on your computer is its not compatible.
Good luck.

[Q] Casual R417b download issues

I have a Samsung GN2 with Verizon and a Win7 PC with the latest Java update. Whenever I go to the d-h.st/clA page to download the software, all I seem to find are all kinds of ads with download buttons. Even the ones that should be legitimate only link to Qwiklinx for adware downloads. Yes, I am a total noob, but I feel this is the best solution for me to root and unlock my 4.1.1 phone. Any help is most appreciated.
There is a download button under the first ad in the center of the page...i tried to click it and it downloaded the file...if you have an error then you might be using a proxy server...

Does Rooting Phone corrupts your android phone software

I tried to root the phone via pc and the software successfully rooted my phone and install the app on my pc .
when i use the app , i tried two options
optimize pc and remove buildin games in my phone
due to which my phone software corrupted .

People here can help you only if you give details, such
s your device, android version, ROM, the app you used, etc.
Anyway Rooting doesn't corrupt anything, it merely gives you and various apps the administrator privilege
So that any files can be edited. This editing might cause issues if done carelessly...

No rooting program should install anything to your pc except for the kit to root it. You most likely got dupped into installing some spyware

[Q] trojan. ..

recently downloaded a zip file for a rom.
ran norton and it found a trojan.
norton dealt with the issue, all is clean now it says.
2?'s
is the rom safe to use now if norton gave the green light?
where did this trojan come from?
was it the dev? i have used his roms before, and no issues...
hard for me to think, as was said in another post that he would take the time to cook up the rom just to slip a trojan in. but i understand it's a possibility.
is there a chance that it was not injected by the dev though?
somehow in transit through the net or on the hosting site?
really would like to beleive it did not come from the dev but another source...

- also, another idea... a "false positive"?
You are using windows pc, and a android device which is based on linux. Its not possible to run a windows program in linux based mobile platform. I think, the virus you have found, that must be entered when the rom is packed.

I downloaded the rom onto my pc and ran norton before putting onto my phone....
what would suggest a rom is packed with a virus vs. a false positive or coming from a different source?

AND, if i was able to clean the files, how do i know if norton removed something the rom needs to funtion?
can i tell by any code info. norton gives me on the virus?
flash it nothing will happen to your phone since it detects windows viruses + norton is crappy i suggest using kaspersky
Most likely a false positive.
