Hi all guys!
So I've started modding my OPO by rooting it flashing twrp 2.7.1.0
So far I've upgraded my recovery to latest official release 2.7.1.1
Is there any mean to backup my efs partition that doesn't imply flashing a modified recovery?
Thanks!

You can use fastboot boot recovery.img to boot into TWRP (not flash it) and then back it up - should work

I didn't think about it... I will make a try.
Anyways, is there a tool to manage backups and restore them?? It would be way more easy to use than booting the img everytime.
G
There is a program call efs partition professional that can view and save all partitions but I didn't see efs. It's too late for me to try it, but give it a gander.

What's wrong with booting into recovery? It's how it's meant to be done.

What is wrong is that if you check the thread of twrp recovery people say that efs backup and restore function is broken

Link? I've seen numerous people have great success backing up their EFS partition.

I used the modified TWRP 2.7.1.0 recovery that has the EFS backup to do mine. It seemed to work fine. I just did a fastboot boot recovery.img to just boot to that recovery to do the backup since the official recovery is version 2.7.1.1 and still doesn't have the EFS backup implimented.
Edit: This is the recovery I used to do the backup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-2-7-1-0-t2815247

Question 1: before you flashed the rom, what wipe options did you select?
Question 2: can u get into the bootloader?
I wiped cache and dalvik. (and I did factory reset to)
and yes, I can even start CWM, but I can't find my backup

So it's not in a bootloop anymore? I use TWRP not CWM but I wouldn't think that updating versions would change the source destination path of the backup. Sidenote: after I rooted and backedup my G for the first time, the auto generated name (which was that time/date stamp) had a weird date of sometime in the 1970's and I wasn't able to use that backup because it didn't backup the /system data for some reason. I could still see the backup tho, just not use it

Nope, no bootloop, I hold the powerbutton for 5 seconds. But that I can't find my backups is the real problem, I really can't find my backup anywhere (I can use a filemanager in CWM)

I can't say where the backup went but if u freshly unlocked and rooted it before backing up, there can't be that much data lost! You would need to just reflash the stock firmware and backup if that is your intent; to have a stock backup  and I'm happy it's no longer in a bootloop. I would suggest going forward to save nandroid backups to usb-otg storage device so it can't be wiped from the phone.
I flashed the stock rom with this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219) but I am still stuck in bootscreen..
So flashing roms doesn't go well.. What now? (thanks for helping!)
And now my phone can't even see my internal storage anymore...

I faced a similar issue and i have found a answer another user gave me after countless "did you wipe this/ DID YOU WIPE THAT? responses"
what i did was i downgraded to JB 4.3 img ad once i flashed that and it booted up and flashed the philz edition cwm and then i was able to insatll a custom rom.
before this i was on stck 4.4.2 and NO custom rom booted past bootlogo until this solution.
btw i donwgraded to 4.3 in fastboot and flashed custom rom in cmw.

When you downgraded to JB did you also wipe the internal SD or did you just flash system and kernel via fastboot?

So, I have copied my backups from my device to computer using adb pull /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/ .
but I have deleted the backups on my device. so i wanted to restore my backups to my device. but I came with no success when using adb push /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/. the process can be done, but I don't find my backups in my CWM.
so, I tried another directory to /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup/. but the adb push process can not be done.
please, help me out. I want to get my data back

Is it official CWM? If so, you need to push them whilst in recovery to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup. If you do it in Android, CWM will not see them.
This is because since android 4.2, /sdcard is actually mounted on /data/media/0 however CWM never updated code so in CWM /sdcard is mounted to /data/media instead.
So boot into recovery and push to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup or /data/media/clockworkmod/backup
Then do yourself a favour and stop using Official CWM

I recently pushed to /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/ and still no success. I pushed the folder but the only ones copied is the files (like system4.ext4.tar.a) in the /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup/
but for now my problem is solved by manually copy it to my storage and using Root Explorer to copy it to /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup/

Its a piece of sh*t. Its no longer managed by the original dev. Just a messy community of people...
The features are poor, the code is ancient and the support is null.
If you trust your device with that, more fool you.

Guess now's not the time to tell you I still use it. I've been on Playfulgods unofficial swipeable builds since I've had this device. I've had zero issues with it and I flash quite a bit. TWRP is historically buggier than CWM imo. I like Philz and will move onto that when CWM starts to present problems. Old habits die hard or so they say.

hey thanks, now I am using philz as my recovery.
but there is a minor problem for me. the name of the backups. precisely the time of the backups. the names of the backups should be yyyy-mm-dd.hh.mm.ss. I have recently backed up my N5, but instead of named 2014-09-09.20.40.00, it was named 1970-09-01.20.00.17_blablabla.
so, how can I changed the time or the name of the backups to the normal time? It's not a big problem, but it annoyed me. thanks before

Are you sure about EFS? Most probably you damaged modem partition if recovery is bigger then 8 MB. If that is the case flash smaller recovery and after that just modem from corresponding "official" ROM.

Hey guys. I just want to know if anyone can confirm that the roms and recoveries for the first Nvidia Shield Tablet can work on the NEW Nvidia Shield Tablet? I heard the two tablets are basically the same except for the built in stylus so I'm hoping that the roms work for the NEW one...
Thx Guys
I'm not sure about the ROMs, but the official twrp works flawlessly. I couldn't actually get it to flash via fastboot but I did get it to boot into it via fastboot, then did a backup, then flashed root. After flashing root I downloaded flashfire by chainfire and used that to flash the twrp recovery. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the helpful info! I hope this helps others as well. I will try a custom rom on it when I pick it up. Good thing you told me that I can't flash twrp via fastboot... (would've gave me a headache at first ) No problem though I'll just have to boot it via fastboot, make a backup just in case, flash supersu, and then flash the twrp recovery onto the shield with a third party app like flashfire.
Thanks again

Could you maybe try to do a full backup using flashfire? I used twrp and later realized it doesn't backup the recovery or the kernel so even if I need to I can't return to full stock. Flashfire is still in beta but there is a thread here to sign up. It's the replacement to flashify if I remember right.
