Hi,
unfortunately, I had to revert back from CM11 to the stock rom (because of issues with the HDMI output in combination with my Pioneer AppRadio).
It's not that bad, but I really miss the way the hardware keyboard worked under CM: When pressing the SYM key and then a, o or u, it automatically converted to ä, ö and ü - special characters which are frequently needed in German.
Is there a way to install this functionality on the stock rom of the Photon Q?
you could try modded layout files.

Hello all,
I recently became a U8800 owner and I decided to flash it with the latest MIUI ROM, only to find out that their stock Android keyboard does not yet support text prediction in Greek or Greek keyboard at all. Since I didn't want to install a third-party Greek IME from the market, I decided to inject a Greek dictionary found in a previous CM Release plus a Greek keyboard supporting existing LatinIME.apk (from htc devs on a stock 2.3.5 keyboard apk).
It should work on all devices/ROMs, but you can try and share your results.
I also removed all other dictionaries exept english / greek to make it light.
How to install:
1. Navigate to /system/app using Root Explorer and copy/rename your existing LatinIME.apk to a backup folder in your SD card (just to be sure, should things go wrong).
2. Use Root Explorer to mount /system/app as R/W and then paste the new LatinIME.apk inside this folder. Change the file's permissions to rw-r--r-- after pasting.
3. Reboot your device and go to Settings > Language & Keyboard > Android Keyboard > Input Languages. Under Greek, it should now say "Dictionary available".

Nice to hear that it works ok.

please reup to somewhere else! will test it on x10 2.3.4 with android keyboard running donut hd rom
Hi ! It's a good news, since I'm seeking how to do the same for the French language since a ROM i flashed my Wildfire S with doesn't support spell check or prediction for it.
Yet, I'm fairly new to the modding scene (my previous phone was a an LG oldie...) and don't know how all of this works, so could you please elaborate ?
Do you mean I should try and retrieve HTC_IME.apk (I'm guessing it's the equivalent of LATIN_IME.apk, but for HTC...) from the stock 2.3.5 ROM and replace the current crappy one with it ? Are the dictionaries contained in the apk ? If not, where will I find the French dictionary ?
Thanks for reading me, I hope you can help.
I would gladly click the "thank you" button for your OP, but I can't seem to see it...
So here goes the old-fashioned way : Thanks !

Yeah I stumbled upon this same folder en.us in usr/ and it's purely useless (in regard of our problem) as far as I can tell...
But I found a way to get it back and working. It's basically the same procedure, but for HTC. I just posted it, I hope it'll help others as well :

I read a lot of posts here abut installing Hebrew (MENUs) in android Chinese devices... But this is not my question
I just want to know - if the direction of right to left (rtl) is solved in android 4 version.
I want to buy Chinese device - leave the menu in English - and just want to type and read Hebrew (sms, surfing etc.) - (buy downloading hebrew keybord app).
thank you alot - this will help me.

IMHO, for writing hebrew and reading it, I think is not related to the Android OS version.
Also, I think maybe the problem is that you can not change the rtl setting in chinese devices.
You could try to get a multilanguage rom for your device and check if hebrew is included.
But that was just my opinion.
Have a nice day!

Hii
Hebrew is not included in the languages menu.
But I read a lot about that android 4.0.3 support RTL - and don't matter if it's Chinese or not.
Hi again.
I have tested with my phone, SGS+ with "paranoidandroid" rom (ICS) and changed the system language to hebrew (i think it was) and I can write from right to left using the stock android keyboard.
I meant chinese phones are less supported and you will have a hard time searching a compatible rom or even rooting it.
So, question answered?

Hi,
Installed the Slimbean ROM on my infuse as I wanted a light ROM. Works almost perfectly - all I need to get working on it is support for Indian languages.
Do I need to install specific font files? What about getting keyboard support for indic languages?
Sorry for the newbie question, and any help is much appreciated.

If you want to change system language you have to compile it yourself with big language pack or just your langauge, it's open source.
If you want fonts there is an addon pack available on the homepage or within updateme app.
Hi
I'm using CM 11 and only thing I miss from stock ROM is keyboard - to be specific that feature which makes it small and floating. Can anyone post dump of that keyboard? Or maybe someone knows CM11-like replacement for that feature
Regards

I forgot to write him , that stock keyboard don't install on CM.
This is what I've been searching for:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aitype.android.tablet
I prefer hackers keyboard.
I’ve been searching all over the place and can’t find it again... I found and downloaded a modified version of MTCBackView which has a function of adjusting the parking lines within the app itself. Anyone have a link?
Edit: found it
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=891403&st=1080#entry78532683
Edit 2: attached to this post!
Remember, you need root privileges to replace the system app!
please

Yep, added it to the first post! Enjoy!
Only thing is the app is still in Russian, but the controls are pretty straight forward
When in reverse, just hold down on the screen for 2 second to bring up the adjustment menu. From there use the touch points to adjust the reverse guide lines, and when everything is adjusted tap the far right button "сохранить" to save your setup.

Here is a version translated to English and Norwegian by @zeMadCat https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...head-units-t3847477/post78492026#post78492026

Unfortunately these mods are based on an old version of the mtcbackview.apk which occasionally freezes the reverse camera on my headunit. I have a newer version APK which I have been testing from Eonon and it doesn't freeze, so will have to try and work out how to apply this mod the the newer version.
On px3 eonon with malaysk rom not function

Confirmed working on Eonon PX5 Android 8.0 running Hal9k rom.
Does anyone have this apk for android 9.0? looks like 9.0 is not called 'mtcbackview' anymore..
Does anyone have the latest version unmodified they could share?
On my pumpkin with Malaysk 8.0 the reverse camera freezes too. Has anyone have the new version that Don't freeze?

I notice mines freezed on android 8.0 (both the stock and malaysk) if i put it into reverse too quick before letting the unit boot up and start applications 100%
Updated to Android 9.0 and issue seems to be resolved. I think i'm going to give malaysk rom 9.0 a try. I cant seem to find the backview app with guidelines for 9.0..
