What is ACEMusic?

ACEMusic is a highly improvisied and visually enhanced music player, upgrading the legendary Apollo Music Player with a new interface, ease-of-use and features.

All of us, including me are waiting for android L to make its way to our devices. As shown in the Google I/O conference, 2014. The Music player looks awesome. So I decided to base off an app over Apollo(It is under apache v2 license, which gives proper permissions to distribute the application with/without modifications) and make it look a bit modern. The application is in BETA stage, but expect more soon :)

· Notification / lock screen controls for local and remote playback.
· Drag to the left to see the queue of NowPlaying list.
· Variety of song/artist/album sorting options for home pages.
· Choice of tabs to be displayed
· Home screen widgets
· Lockscreen widgets (4.2+)
· Built in search with voice support
· Album Art and Artist photographs are automatically fetched from Last.fm and CoverArtArchive.org. (Seriously! who likes to have a blank image in there! )
· Optimized for smartphones and tablets
· Supports ICS+ (4.0+)
· Audio visualizer
· Ability to choose between holo light and holo dark theme.(for widgets only)
· Favorites
· Ability to change the Artist Image and album art, according to your choice.
· Playlist support.
· Playlist editor.
· Swipe to change song(only on now playing screen).
· Built in equalizer (will only come up if no external equalizer is found)

Uh! That is okay. But how does the application look? What are the changes over Apollo to ACEMusic?

Permissions required by the app :
· Record Audio -> animates the visualizer with currently playing song
· Modify USB/External Storage -> play and delete songs stored on device.
· Network Access/View Connections -> download album / artist images and streaming/ controlling Chromecast
· Prevent Phone from Sleeping -> only applies during playback
· Modify System Settings -> only used to set ringtone
· Send Sticky Broadcast -> used internally by service to communicate with activity

1. Equalizer presets.
2. Having an option to show embedded album arts instead of the downloaded ones. The thing is, I listen to regional songs a lot, and this app often download those album arts wrong. So wrong that even a blank one (like Google Play Music) is better.
Other than these, it's the most beautiful materialistic player I've laid my eyes upon.

Thank you for the reply! Eq presets were on my mind Will try my best for that.
For the 2nd feature request, It is already there. Go to the albums tab. Then select the album and then long press on the album art. You will see an option "choose from gallery", then navigate to your image and set it as the album art

All right, Thanks a lot. But actually I want this app to show Embedded arts in a song, rather than picking each one from gallery (and downloading those images).

Step 1 : Find the album, for example, I am taking #3(CD2)
Step 2 : Go to the album page, by tapping on the Album Tile(see previous screenshot)
Step 3 : Long press the Album art cover image(the one on top, in the step 2 screenshot) and then select "Original Image from File".

Unfortunely when I choose my google music account, my nexus 5 freezes and I have to reboot it. Surely I will come back, because this player is really promising

Sure I didnt have a google play music account. So couldn't test it! Will look into it asap! Till then, it can be used for playing music stored locally on your device

Bug in Player Settings !
Hey !! Just tried the beta version and gotta say in terms of design its unlike any other player ! I encountered a few bugs while configuring the settings .
Strangely when i try to view the settings i can see the settings in Appearance , Layouts and Music Library only ! Rest of the settings like Album Art , Audio Settings Google Play music , Labels , Folders ,Blacklists , Scrobbling etc etc show up a blank screen with no options !!!
Here are the screenshots !
Device :- Xiaomi Mi3
ROM :- Standard AOSP Build (Not MIUI )
Android :- v4.4.4
The settings which i could view :-

Thanks for the report As I said in OP, some parts are remaining I will fill them up as I find time. Currently my exams are going on (but they are going to end on 18th) so I will be in full force after that

Thanks for this wonderful thing. I love it. Simply the best design for a music player.
However I found some bugs-
playlists don't open.
widgets and lockscreen (kitkat 4.4.4) don't show the album art.
It force closes while selecting dark or light color on 4x1 widget.
However the design of widgets is just perfect.
I have enlisted these bugs just to help you make this even better. Otherwise I love your app.

I have a device, but I will have to do all sorts of stuff to sideload an application over that device. That would be a very difficult task! I will check if I am able to sideload an app, If i am successful , I will try to make a music player for windows phone too

I haven't dropped acemusic support. The problem with it is, that there is no official public API for google play music streaming on unofficial apps. So the google play music streaming doesn't work properly. I am trying all the libraries i found on the internet, to do the job, but am not able to do so! Maybe I'll have to strip off Google Play Music. Will it be okay? Or no?

Yeah honestly I don't really care about the Google Play support myself, a couple of things would make ace music perfect for me.
Lock screen support and if you could somehow make the navigation for albums, songs, etc in the sliding fashion like this app and not the slide out left menu it would be perfect.
Or even integrate the now playing screen from ace music into this app as ace has the best now playing UI on any music player in my opinion

Yeah your navigation drawer is just fine, I think you should rip the now playing ui from acemusic as that trumps any other ui out there. I would gladly purchase lantern for that as acemusic was better than the google io player anyway

Initial impressions is good. Thanks.
But I can't see any album art and the songs list is blank while I can view the albums.
But i would still prefer acemusic over this.

issue
on pressing next in playback activity, the seekbar is not getting reset. It happens only if I pause the playback and press next, otherwise, it is okay. The seekbar is getting stuck at that point.
It was temporary, I couldn't recreate the issue afterwards

Cool app!

Nice little app! I like its overall features, but I have an issue that I hope you can address in the near future. Album art is handled very badly, there's no setting for keeping the aspect ratio or unzooming, etc. But the biggest problem is that it uses some kind of thumbnail system that downgrades the quality of the images. I always embed my files with high-quality pictures to avoid blurriness. ACE and Poweramp handle it beautifully, with no settings or issues, just displaying the actual images I embedded. The difference between them and lantern is palpable.

Only one feature I need and I'd be very grateful if you can implement a toggle for lockscreen album art

Does this app work with Pebble watch?

Hey! Superb app, I am using it now as my main music player, but the application doesn't download? or can't find? covers for my albums, only 3 artworks were found. Could you add a feature to manually set covers from gallery or help me somehow else with this problem? I found all my albums on last.fm, so I don't know what I am doing wrong.

I will take a look into it. Thanks for the review Also sort is necessary. we will add it before final release.

Any chance to implement sorting by album artist? I have several albums where the artist of at least one track is "Album Artists feat. XYZ". This way, each of those tracks gets listed as a separate album. By implementing sorting by album artist, such confusion could be avoided.

Yes , it will work for all languages. Basically my algo will keep tracking what type of songs you love to listen and what condition ( like time, weather etc. ) and it will suggest you songs automatically.

Kikat, really? Then why is your target sdk set to 24? You are also using Material Design ressources.

Hello. Thanks for the such a great player app, such a lovely interface. Im OK with the app at all but wanted to say(require) 3 things; first of 'em: If it's possible to make it compatible with RTL(Right to Left layout under the Settings » Developer options of device). Take a look:
Secondly; If possible to leave the notification background color as system's default (or an option to colorize it manually) instead of picking the color from album art(or wherever it picks) to match with System UI(At the moment i use Good Lock UI, the app might not detect it's color though, im aware of this).
Last thing; if possible to make lock screen widget as full screen like app's itself instead of default notification row. If im wrong at any of the points, please correct me. Again thanks a lot for the app, marry christmas. P.s. ID is OffSuit

HI..target sdk means the sdk which I am targeting . Min sdk is the minimum version.

Thanks for the review I will fix both 1 and 2 soon . Also I will do some research for 3 if full lock screen widget can be developed without any permissions . Thanks again for reporting the issues

This is a rewrite version of Laisim Music Player that I can't support due to many reasons (the source is lost and the backup source is too old, many issues with the source as well). I am so sorry for that.

Compare to the Laisim, there are many features are removed (Visualizer, separate EQ (Onemp offers the EQ also but It applys for all tracks, etc), but many of them are improved (song scanner now is very fast, better supports theme, cross fade, etc). However, one thing to note, Onemp supports Android Lollipop 5+ only.

- Support regular audio format, high definition *.flac file also
- Fade in/out when pause/play song, cross fade when play next/previous
- Display album length
- Auto find missing album art
- Play song from folder, playlist, artist, album, genre
- Support theme ( 3 themes with 6 color options. More themes and colors will be added soon)

This issue has been fixed in v1.0.3 but if you still found a bug related to this, please let me know. Thanks
2. Onemp is playing a track but can not hear anything?
The crossfade feature (turn on by default) might be the root cause in this case. Please try to turn off to see if it works

When I start writing the app, I have no idea about its name so I call it XMP
When I start publishing the app, I still have no idea about its name so I keep the name XMP.

after install it only apears the x in the menu, but by the way is a great app

Sure, Click the song title on the Player screen, if the setting set the click title action to open track info, the Song info dialog will appear. This screen displays some useful information that, of course, include the bitrate.
Another way is that you click on the song item in the list of songs, then select Info. Hope that help

Looks like a good app although I cannot see an option to enable external SD card. It just reads songs from the internal memory. Also, can anyone let me know if it plays ALAC?

It has support for external storage but your path to sd card might be something special so that It can't detect. Could you please show the external sd path of your device?.
For the ALAC type, It does not support at the moment, sorry.

A new version has been updated. This update contains some small changes only though.

I loved Laisim so I'm really excited about this. Downloading...
EDIT: I love the player, but I can't work out how to scan folders in Ext Sd card, could you advise please.

As someone mentioned here, it doesn't see my external SD card with over 1200 songs. It only shows a few notifications, some ringtones, and one downloaded song that is on my device. All the other music apps I've tried or use find the songs with problem.

I like the material design very matured
