Just thought I'd share this with the AT&T G3 community.

This will change the data icons, get rid of the annoying AT&T sign on the top left of the screen and also unlock the volume and brightness slider in the notification pull down. This is not my work and I take no credit for this I just wanted to share this with everyone who has the AT&T G3. [emoji4]

True. If you don't have a lot of experience with android a build.prop is a bad thing to mess with.

you're prolly right, I thought I saw them both in there, but there's so many I could be mistaken
also you can change the ro.build.target_operator to 'OPEN' and accomplish this, another side effect is you get new options in the network settings allowing you to disable lte (choose your prefered band)

Just to be clear before I jump in, changing ro.build.target_county to CA and ro.build.target_operator to OPEN will unlock the brightness slider in the notification shade, switch to the international data icons, and unlock the preferred network type? I just want to make sure. As soon as we have a full custom recovery I'll stop being quite so paranoid, haha
I just changed the 'OPEN' and with g3 tweaksbox you can get any icons you want from any service

You simply need to edit your build.prop and add the line qemu.hw.mainkeys=0. You can use any good editor in Android to do that, or Build.prop Editor.

You can also go one step or two further by disabling the backlight on the keys at the bottom AND even disabling them completely (nothing happens when pressed).
Disabling the lights will need a custom kernel however.
How can I disable the keys completly? I'm on cm 10.1.

Once again, for them not to light up, it's necessary you have a kernel that supports BLD.

I'm looking for an easy way to do this, maybe i'll flash the simple kernel for this purpose.
I'm doing this cause my softkeys are not properly functioning, most of the time there are only 2 of 4 visible, and my warranty is expired.
The navigation bar can be a good alternative i think!!

Not a big fan myself, the Nexus S is rather "small" for today's standards and the navigation bar takes quite a bit of estate. But working around your problem without wanting to physically repair it, I believe that works.

Unfortunately i have to agree, i don't like that solution too, cause the screen gets smaller than it's real size.
But to be honest i do prefer to apply a "patch" like this more than paying half the value of a 3 years old device to repair it...
I'll also try to flash a kernel with the bln mod and see if i can get used to use the device with no navbar and no softkeys light.
Thanks for your help!! :good:

Was going to give this a whirl myself, but I've had zero time lately. Wife has been drilling me left and right with house and yard work. Anyway, enough of the whining.
Was hoping someone could come up with a flashable extended power menu, that has REBOOT, REBOOT TO RECOVERY, AND REBOOT TO BOOTLOADER added. I know there's an Xposed module, but I hate using Xposed as I've always had issues and lag. I appear to be the only one it seems. Regardless, a flashable with these options has proven very handy on past devices running stock ROM.

That one and the reboot menu specific one. Most people don't notice any xposed issues it at all. I for one do. Very high attention to detail....hasn't always been a good thing. Regardless, having an APK or "module" that goes through a hack process will never work as well as it being coded in the actual system apk. Are Xposed processes easy and for the masses......yes. Are they the right way to do things.....no.

At least you learn something by modding. I looked over your thread and don't feel comfortable flashing it on my American Sprint phone. I seen it has data issues with Sprint, and I don't have the time to debug problems at the moment. Also, in the past I've had BIG issues after flashing a T-Mobile ROM and firmware on my Sprint device. Caused way too many problems and I am very hesitant to do it again. Thanks for your work though!:good:
I figure I'll get around to it anyway. Probably after the next Android update.....
This is one of the easiest things to do as far as smali hacking goes, and there are countless guides for other devices that I've seen on how to do it. Maybe none specifically for 4.4.2, but the back-end code is still going to be the same thing that goes in, as it has been for several versions of Android. I'd say it's going to take you longer to get the proper tools to do the changes, than actually making them.

I notice lag/stuttering whenever I use xposed framework, not modifying an apk. Have tried the reboot menu module, gravity box module, and the hot spot module. Have tried them alone, and together. As soon as I remove xposed or reflash the firmware, my issues stop. Have tried a few different versions of xposed as well. Same thing every time. There are others I've briefly talked to who notice the same issues, on different devices.
Xposed is a great option to have, but it's not for me.
@ramon20 hey man, if you could make me a flashable zip for the basic advanced reboot on stock ROM I would be eternally grateful. I hate the xposed version I feel they look cheap. Here's a link to frameworkres.apk and androidpolicy.jar for unlocked gsm xt1053. This version of frameworkres has safe headset volume removed if you need the original please let me know.

Perhaps a noob question but I figured I might as well ask before trying it and messing something up.
Is there a Google Now Launcher APK that's been confirmed to work on the G3? all the APKs I find are in articles and links from months ago and I just want to have the most recent information and APK(s) available.

Hi all. I decided to install an rather new android Oreo theme for emui the other day and since then, emoji have been showing as placeholders instead of icons in the Xbox app and also when I tap a letter while using fleksy keyboard(it is supposed to show the letter being pressed, not a big vibrant emoji). I don't know if this is coincidence but it's extremely odd. I've cleared cache and did what I could but nothing has worked to return these things to normal, it's obviously not a serious problem (other than looking tacky) but I am curious to find out what caused this. My device is an frd-L04 on stock B388
I believe it's a problem with the theme. Try another theme and see if you still get it.

Well done man! ?
This only happens to me if I enlarge the fonts.
Is there a way so these can overlap or stack a little? It is pretty stupid to have it only show one a page and have to cycle through them all to get to the other side. I've seen Samsungs that stack a lot better and it actually works. I don't really mind they are horizontal now but why don't they stack at all?
On a side note, is there any way to get my clock back on the left and maybe the data rate on the left on the status bar?
Never looked into that but it would be nice. I remember they used to be like that, or I had them like that somehow years ago at least.
Also, the clock is on the left, so I assume you meant right. I know it's possible with root and xposed. Might be possible only root. Not sure if you can do it without root.
Same with data rate, I know you can do it with root and xposed but not sure without.

Yeah I did get Gravity box working and the status bar fixed, still looking for a way to change the recents menu but I'm losing hope heh
If you do find a way, I'd love to know. I definitely wouldn't mind a recents menu like that again.
Also, never really looked at the GB settings for data rate but I'm glad I did to see if it worked. Got it so it shows me the rate only when my download is in the status bar.
Honestly haven't used GB since lollipop and KitKat days. 7pro first phone to have it in a long time for me.

So recents are just normal? I still kinda like all the settings and customization. But knowing me, I'll probably never get around to actually checking it out.

Omnirom has even more stuff from what I saw, if you are going to try one try that.

Yeah its just that thing at the bottom, it is not pretty but it works better. I think HavocOS is the best bet, there is an Android 10 version available they just never updated the thread on here.

Tried xposed edge again and actually looked at it more. I'm in love. Paired with A10 gestures I can use the sides for entire navigation. Used pie before but this is so much better. Set a power menu one too. Don't actually mind the opened apps thing either.

I am now in love with Omnirom and Omniswitch, the vertical one is perfect and still slides and has screenshots, you can also add custom buttons and make it transparent or wte colors you want. There is also a horizontal version that is a lot more condensed without screenshots. See the pics attached. Fair warning though, on android 10 with these new roms you will lose your face unlock if you still have it.
