[guide/How-To] Disable Verizon CD Installer - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Android Development

This is based on Verizon S5 SM-G900V Android 4.4.2 G900VOYU1ANCG Deodexed. This was a group effort by Versatile1 and myself, please don't forget to thank Versatile1.
First thing you need to do is have a current Nandroid or backup. Then grab your services.jar from /system/framework.
Decompile with APKTOOL of your choice.
First step is to edit /smali/com/android/server/usb/UsbDeviceManager$UsbHandler.smali
Look For: 2 instances of "const v6, 0x1040739" and change to "const v6, 0x1040737"
Then edit /smali/com/android/server/KiesConnectivity/KiesUsbManager.smali
Look for: 1 instance of "const-wide/16 v2, 0x7530" and change to "const-wide/16 v2, 0x0"
That's it. Compile and Enjoy!!!
Here is a flashable zip for deodexed ROM only. http://d-h.st/qzW
If you want to use this in your ROM please don't forget to give credit to Versatile1 and myself.
Do not re-post our work!!! If you have questions or need this Mod on another phone just ask in a post!!!
Please don't forget to hit THANKS!!!

Thanks @EMSpilot and @Versatile1 for sharing yet another easy and useful mod. I really appreciate all you two share with us. I'll definitely be adding this to my ROM on the next build, it works like a charm.... plug in the phone to the computer and it goes strait to a media installer. Nice.:good:

It's amazing the time we spend fixing TW/VZW crap, when we could be doing so much more.

Nice job guys.. Down goes some more useless Big Red bloat! :highfive:

Got it to work just fine on Debloated Stock Odexed ROM.
Extract the services.jar file from the OP zip file
Rename system\framework\services.jar and services.odex to services.jar.bak and services.odex.bak
Copy the OP's services.jar to system\framework\
Set the permissions to rw-r--r-- (0644) with Root Explorer and any other tool
Reboot

Who wants to do this for the services.jar that has download booster enabled from this thread?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794970

You can use the one from the OP here if you're on VZW and deodexed.

Please, would you mind adding to the OP what the public values here represent so this can be a little more universal across builds and S5 variants?

Did it actually works (ie. not just showing up the Download booster notification but actually splitting the download between Wifi and Cell?)

Located in framework2.jar\smali\com\android\internal\R$string.smali
You need to search for 2 Strings:
.field public static final usb_mtp_notification_title:I = 0x1040737
and
.field public static final usb_cd_installer_notification_title:I = 0x1040739
Change accordingly.

[Mod][How-To] Change Sense 1.0 Lockscreen Sprint Banner

Hey gang. I know a lot of people know of JsChiSurf. You should. That man is one of the main reasons I do what I do today. Buy him some beers or fund his retirement
Anyways. He came up with a mod that can change the Sprint Banner in the Sense Lockscreen. The hack is pretty straightforward yet awesome. I based this mod off of his. Check it out here
His goal was to use a hex editor to modify the text, but I am taking a different approach. We have so many tools available now. Apktool, apk manager, and of course, Android Utility. This is for Sense 1.0 ota 4.54 Evo 4g.
This mod is easy to do.
Tools: Android-Utility, or apktool, Java
Download the attached files below: HtcLockScreen.apk and Testsign.jar
1. Have com.htc.resources.apk and framework-res.apk from your rom ready
2. Decode the apk like this if using apktool, run in command prompt or terminal:
Code:
apktool if framework-res.apk
apktool if com.htc.resources.apk
apktool d HtcLockScreen.apk out
3. Now, you should have a folder called "out"
4. Open the folder and look for res/layout/lock_screen_bar.xml
5. Open the xml in Notepad ++ or Gedit
6. Search for where it says "EVO Classic"
7. Change it to your desired text
8. Save and exit
9. Now, we compile the apk
Code:
apktool b out HtcLockScreen-new.apk
10. Now, we resign the apk.
Code:
Method A:
Open the original apk with 7-zip.
Take out the entire "META-INF" folder.
Open new apk with 7-zip.
Put in META-INF folder.
Method B: (only works on Evo Classic and other roms with signature verification off)
type in this command:
java -jar testsign.jar HtcLockScreen-new.apk HtcLockScreen-signed.apk
11. Download the sample Update.zip Found here, attached at bottom
12. Put the apk (renamed to HtcLockScreen.apk) inside the zip under system/app/
13. Flash and enjoy!
Sorry if this isn't noob-friendly enough. I tried to come up with a different way but this is all I got. The details are all there.
Please try it first.
But if you really can't get it, feel free to request a specific word or banner. I can upload them for you.

Once again, thanks to JsChiSurf for original mod. I took and modified for the latest 4.54
Sincerely,
Tommy Nguyen
Requests
Only changes the Banner Text. Lockbar will not be included.
All to be applied with ZipThemer
-EViL-KoNCEPTz- Banner
Sprint Banner
I'm guessing we can still use sprint apps, because this only changes the banner. Would I be correct?

The command:

Doesn't seem to work. I am using the most recent version of apktool on a Windows machine.
Whoops.
apktool d HtcLockScreen.apk out
Typo corrected.
all you need is a lovely signature.
Tommy you are a beast! You write these guides like you wrote the code or something. Do you know of a guide somewhere that breaks down smali code? That's where I need to be lol
Swyped from my Red Hot Razr phone running Tapatalk
i got it all working except building the new .apk
it builds but instead of an .apk its a folder...
edit: i think i might have found it.

[MOD] Fix usability of swipe-to-clear feature on SGY

Whats New?
Previously, the outer ScrollView did capture the motion events when the
Y distance became too large. This caused swipe-to-clear to only work
when moving the finger in an exact horizontal line.
Fix that by redirecting all motion events to the swiped notification as
soon as its recognized as being swiped.

i am just wondering are you sure this mod has been shared by the criskelo...why i am saying let me explain first!
1. I ported the 15 toggles mod from s3 which was done by the wannam
2, I forgotten to remove the hamster string in the code which displays "wanam lite ROM" when you click reboot, that is present in this toggle mod as well... and i am sure criskelo wont do that, becuase he himself is a developer who has written the 15 toggles code from scratch after another developer rejecting his request to use the 15 toggles mod!
3. Criskelo would have been surely removed the hamster string i.e, which i dont find it been removed!
<string name="hamster">WanamLite ROM</string>
so please confirm whether is it really been shared by the criskelo! Still no offence just request for clarification!

Is there a fix for bluetooth? Or can anyone post the original LRG systemui?

PLEEEAAAAASSEE can someone help me get this mod working on my GE ROM by NULL_ ? Iv modded the android.policy file replacing phonewindowmanager#4 as well as phonewindowmanager#9 so it calls this script as well as trying another script called Phonewindowmanager#KillConcept from another guide. Altogether Iv tried three different scripts but the back button does nothing.!!
Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to get it working??
The Null_ ROM had Xposed module installed by default - I disabled it then uninstalled it.
I have no idea why the script is not being called when the menu button is held. Perhaps its not compatible with Google ROMs?

Nope! Not working Iv done it three times with three different scripts.
Which function did u replace?
Iv tried PhoneWindowManager.smali#3, #4 and #9. It seems nothing is calling them! Or something is overriding their call. Any idea??
I'm on the Null_05 ROM its a GE 4.2.2 modded. It comes with Xposed installed but Iv uninstalled it have the default app_process file.
I'm also using Nova Launcher and I don't have the default launcher installed.
Thank u again.

Arrow, can you please make the mod without the whitelisted apps? thank you!!
Edit: I managed to do it myself thanks to your guide!! thank you!
I'm on stock pre-rooted MH8 (odexed) and the only thing I find when I open the android.policy.jar is the META.INF folder. Nothing else.
Guess I can't do this with odexed rom :crying:
Can someone please upload PhoneWindowManager$MenuLongPress file to here, I can't download from that server
Thanks in advance

[MOD][SOURCE]Let there be Lockscreen WIDGETS! - On Secure and all enabled

I know a lot of people were disappointed that Samsung removed lockscreen widgets on the S5. They are not gone...just hidden...so I brought em back for Alliance and thought i would share here as I know this bothered lots of people!
Basically I found a field called ispreviouslook. Changing this to 0x1 enabled them but there was an annoying flicker on unlock. So I went through and replaced the calls to it one or two at a time until I got it working without the flicker.
Thanks to @BeansTown106 and @txr33 who then gave me the heads up on where to enable all widgets and the max number.
Finally I enabled them on secure lockscreen too for good measure.
The guide would be very laborious because there are quite a few replacements. Effectively it is just forcing ispreviouslook to true in places its needed and issecure to false. I have included the unmodded and modded files so devs can compare them and make the necessary changes in Keyguard.apk
If you use this mod please credit Team Alliance. Thanks
Have fun

I added the modded smali to my keyguard.apk but I cant add widgets, have I done something wrong or just missed how to add widgets?
Touch the clock. Pull it down...swipe left and press the plus.
Edit....
Ahhh....you need a db entry for kg_multiple_lockscreen setting to 1. This is included in the update I will put in ota tonight

The settings storage database needs an entry for kg_multiple_lockscreen. This is usually toggled by settings. You can manually add it using sqlite editor app....
...then changing that 0 to 1 will enable it
