I'm pretty sure I've seen builds of the latest CM11S that you can download and flash, but I'm not sure if they support custom recoveries. Also, I think in the Toolkit for the OnePlus One there is an option to flash CM11S. I do not know how it will affect your device if you do it that way, but maybe consider that as an option.

Funny thing about this is I flashed it last night in TWRP and it would fail everytime I wiped first.
I saw someone else with the same issue and they dirty flashed it and it worked. I ended up trying to dirty flash it over (Not sure which ROM, I've tried them all) and it flashed fine. As soon as it booted I had some FC so I went back into TWRP and wiped and all has been fine.

installing 4.2 gapps

hey had a question about trying to install the 4.2 gapps. im currently running King Kang rom with the kernel that came with it (not 5) and TWRP. after i downloaded the .zip and went to install from recovery it instantly fails every time that i try it. am i missing a step somewhere, or do i need to be running kernel 5 or something?
Could be a bad download. Make sure signature check is off

Yea sig check is off, downloaded 2 different zips and both do the same

Download cm10 again ans reflash it, cleanly. Wipe system/cache/dalvik. Then try and flash over gapps. But I'd do another wipe on cache/delvik before you flash it. Just trying to keep the flashing as clean as possible. It also might be a problem with the version of gapps you're using. Do you have the latest?

Reboot Issue

Okay so I bought a Blaze a few days ago and I was messing around with it and I rooted it. When I rooted it I flashed a ROM and when the ROM booted up and got to the welcome screen it instantly turned rebooted itself, so I let it boot up again but it constantly reboots. Then I went back to a backup of the stock ROM and it still does the same thing. So I followed a guide that updated me to the ICS update in hopes of it fixing it but it still does the same thing! Now I don't know what to do with it. I was hoping maybe someone can help or if this has happened to anyone? Thanks in advance

did you wipe data/cache/dalvik in recovery?
Yes I did all of that like a billion times and still nothing
I see you only have ten post so my first question is are you just new to xda and have knowledge and experience with root and recovery and custom roms or is this all new to you?

Yes, the miui we have has a link to racing's blue lightning. I would try miui or another ROM again, but make sure to format /system along with wiping data, cache, and davlik. Or use black hole wipe. If you don't have anything important on the internal SD (or back it up) it might be worth it to format the emmc also.

Are you wiping data when you flash the rom?
If you don't have any important stuff on your phone, I would just flash the factory images and start over with the rom process.

When you flash the ROM it also flashes the kernel that comes with it.
So if you are using Mahdi ROM then everything is ok but if you try a different ROM you get the error constantly?
using the ClockworkMod recovery.
If you receive issues on flashing, double check your download. If nothing, I suggest using the ClockworkMod recovery.

The type of recovery you use will have no bearing on it, hundreds of people on here use twrp and cwm.
All I can suggest and it was suggested before is to wipe your phone completely and start over again. Something went wrong, clearly.

[Q] problem going from 4.3 to 4.4

I have tried a few different 4.4.x builds (kitkat) and all the flashes failed so i had to go back to a 4.3 build. Any idea what i am doing wrong? Never had a flash fail until i went to 4.4.x.
Thank you!

Sorry man, but i am new to this stuff, bare with me. Recovery? Is that the program i use to flash ROMS and other things to my phone? I have the Team Win Recovery Project and i hate it. I read that i need to update this before i flash so i did and it still happened. I want to delete the Team Win Recovery Project and go back to Clockwork Mod (i think its called). Any idea how to do this?
Download flashify from play store and use it. It will let you download and flash either recovery. There's a variety of other apps and ways as well. In all honesty though, if you're using the latest version of twrp then you shouldn't have a problem flashing if you're trying the appropriate roms for your phone.

5.1.1 to CM12.1 advice please

Hi
Stock 5.1.1 LMY48B
rooted with TWRP installed.
Can I flash to CM12.1 just by flashing the zip from TWRP ?
will I lose any data ? Do I need to worry about bootloader or radio versions ?
If I want to go back is it as simple as flashing my nandroid backup ?
Thanks

As I know going from rom to rom you need to make a factory reset.
That will remove all what is stored on /data
All apps, cache and dalvik cache.
All other data insidr /storage/sdcard will be on safe
As I know stock rom cannot be restored, but I just take this device before 1 day. I don't know for that, because on mine previous phone that was impossible

CM nightlies include a radio and bootloader so you don't have to worry about that.

Even if I never tried you should be able to restore a stock nandroid backup thru TWRP (you don't flash anything).
Thanks I'll try this at the weekend ?

No they don't.
But since he's upgraded to stock 5.1.x already, everything is up to date and there's nothing to worry about. Besides, Google's bootloaders usually have good forward- and backward-compatibility.

From Jira:
Me => CM (AOSP) is the only rom which has a bootloader and a radio into its zip. Why? Could you remove them?
I was on the newest bootloader HHz12f and a radio from KRT16M. Every time I flash CM nightlies I have to update my bootloader and flash an older radio. Very annoying.
Thank you.
CM Team => Sorry, we will continue to ship both. It saves us more headaches in the long run. Thanks for your understanding.
It's as simple as that.

Custom ROMs have a check into their update-script for the bootloader version. If you don't have the good one then you can't flash it.
