[Q] Quick settings touch action - General Questions and Answers

Hi Folks,
Was wondering if there a CM configuration option to reverse the default short/long press behaviour for the Quick Settings shade? I would prefer to use touch (short) press for selecting the activity options and long press to turning off the activity. This is the default keystroke behaviour on a Nexus device and I prefer it.
Thank you

How to disable auto-complete, word suggestions and XT9 on Topaz

Hi everybody!
I'm actually using Dutty's HolyGrail R1 Rom for topaz, and for a long time (since original rom) I've been looking for a way to get rid of all the autocomplete and xT9 services on my TD2. The only thing I want is to freely type whatever I want without any kind of suggestions or corrections . I've tried the Advanced Configuration Tools to tweak this unsuccessfully. Does anyone knows how to do it?
Why not pressing the little XT9/ABC button on your device's keyboard and put the device in ABC mode? In that mode the topaz displays exactly whatever you type..
yea but this does not disable button, i want to disable button that it will be always in ABC mode, even if i press that button again, something like keyboard look when you type "To:" field (XT9 ABC) button is disabled...
Hi there
Have you tried using the Text Input Settings that you can find if you touch the Up arrow next to the Text Input Selector available whenever you can input text, ie, SMS or email entry?
You get a pop up menu which has Text Input Settings as an option. If you select that you get an options dialog that has a heading 'XT9 Settings' one of which is 'Word Completion (XT9)' with an On/Off slider button. Toggle this to Off and you should find that when the keyboard is presented you are now set in ABC mode with no option to toggle into XT9 mod.
Should point out that I am running a standard ROM with Manila 2.1.
Hope that helps?

[APP] Wifi Toggler v1.1 & Screen On Toggler v1.2

Hi Guys,
These are two of my latest apps, do check them out, they're very simple and straightforward and I believe you will find them to be useful:
Wifi toggler is basically a replacement tool for the default search button on your android phone when you long press it. It allows you to quickly toggle your wifi from ON to OFF and vice versa.
Once installed, press and hold the search button on your android phone and a dialog will appear. Then select wifi toggler to toggle between your wifi states of ON and OFF. You may also set it as the default action when you long press your search button, but it is recommended NOT to set as the default action, so that you may use it in conjunction with other search button replacement tools such as Screen On Toggler (also by me).
You may clear the default setting for Wifi Toggler by going to the Manage Applications area, select Wifi toggler and scroll down and click on the "Clear Defaults" button. This should restore the selection dialog when you long press the search button.
To disable your wifi connection, you may either touch on the wifi toggler icon on your android's notification bar OR you can long press your search button and select the wifi toggler again, to toggle it. It's that simple.
The reason why I wrote this application is because I have not seen any free application having such functionality to quickly toggle the wifi through a long press on the search button. Anyway, if you liked this android application, do try out my other android applications.
New In V1.1:
- Added launcher icon to allow toggling of wifi
- Added configuration option to always display icon in notification bar even when wifi is not enabled
- Fixed some minor bugs
- Ad-Supported (only when you are connected to internet)
-------------
Screen on toggler is basically a replacement tool for the default search button on your android phone when you long press it. It allows you to quickly toggle your screen's timeout from always ON to your screen timeout's setting and vice versa.
Once installed, press and hold the search button on your android phone and a dialog will appear. Then select screen on toggler to toggle between always ON and your original screen timeout setting. You may also set it as the default action when you long press your search button, but it is recommended NOT to set as the default action, so that you may use it in conjunction with other search button replacement tools such as Wifi Toggler (also by me). You may clear the default setting for Screen On Toggler by going to the Manage Applications area, select screen on toggler and scroll down and click on the "Clear Defaults" button. This should restore the selection dialog when you long press the search button.
To restore the timeout setting to your original setting, you may either touch on the screen on toggler icon on your android's notification bar OR you can long press your search button and select the screen on toggler again, to toggle it. It's that simple.

New In V1.1:
- Added launcher icon to allow toggling of screen timeout
- Added configuration option to always display icon in notification bar when screen timeout is NOT set to always ON (timeout in effect)
- Fixed some minor bugs
- Ad-Supported (only when you are connected to internet)
New in V1.2
- Fixed bug causing the program not abble to toggle the screen if the preferences dialog was not invoked
You can download Wifi Toggler, Screen On Toggler along with my other android apps here:

Please comment if you liked it or have any suggestions on improvements or found any bugs. Thank you!
Screen on toggler v1.32 has been released in the android market and slideme market: https://slideme.org/user/mlbl. Here's the changelog:
New In v1.32:
- Added new option to show notification bar icon only when enabled (i.e: when screen timeout is not in effect)
- Added donate button
- Fixed some small bugs causing the toggling not to work in the main activity

Making Keyboard Backlight Stay on with Tasker App - Stock ROM Rooted

I'm a new Relay user and I can't use CM-10 (need wifi calling) so I'm trying to make the best out of the stock ROM Rooted. I don't like that the keyboard backlight goes out after a few seconds and doesn't seem to even have a sensor to keep it on in dark rooms so I re-downloaded the Tasker App from the Play Store which I haven't used in a while.
To get the keyboard to stay on when slid open I had to do the following:
1. Open Tasker.
2. Choose [Profiles] from the top menu.
3. Click the [plus sign] at the bottom to add a new profile and select [State] from the drop down.
4. Select [Hardware] from the State Category menu.
5. Select [Keyboard Out] from the list of choices here.
6. Tap on the Tasker Icon at the top of the screen and select [Backlight On] from the popup menu.
7. Make sure the toggle switch is set to on for your new profile.
8. Now go to you phone's Sytem Settings > Display > Touch Key Light Duration > and select Always Off (This will allow tasker to take control and have the keyboard backlight stay on when slid open but the Relay's back and menu keys will no longer light up. I can live with this to have my keyboard light on when typing.
9. If this didn't work, make sure Tasker is set to on in System Settings > Accessibility
BTW if someone knows a better way to accomplish this please share.
Edit: Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm using Nova Launcher. I think with the Touchwiz Launcher, apps that use accessibility cause Talkback to speak even if you have it turned off. I could be wrong about that but I had problems with the Light Flow app and accessibility before.
Nice
Good tip. the lights going out bugged me too.
please help. cant find menu with backlight on
Can't find menu with backlight on. Please help.
hey there,
i just figured out how to do this with a non-rooted phone on ics without tasker.
go to settings, display and touch key light duration. increase it to 6 seconds and that will give you enough time to type..
Weird.
I'm on CM10.2 (131117) and since I set the backlight time (in CM10.2 1309xx, I think) to 5 seconds it will always stay on if I open the hardware keyboard.
Maybe I should write me something with tasker to change this in the opposite direction

[Q] Home button lock?

I'm hoping I'm not going crazy here, but I thought I recalled at one point that my Infinity had a feature that would allow me to slide a little lock icon at the bottom of the screen when in a fullscreen app that would "lock" the home/back/switcher buttons to prevent them from being accidentally pressed.
Anyone know where I can find this functionality or what it was called?
Thanks!

Question Power Button Long Press Response Time Setting

So after scrolling through various activities, I stumbled across this one (see screenshot). It's a horizontal bar with a slider to increase or decrease the amount of time required to press and hold the power button before it activates.
However, as you can see in the screenshot, it's grayed out. Does anybody know how to unlock this setting without root? I'd love to be able to manipulate this setting. sideActions is/was the only application I know of that allowed you to manipulate this.
NOTE: This menu is accessible through the settings activity "Press and Hold Power Button". You need to use a third party application. Nova Launcher has an activity launcher and can even create shortcuts for quick access.
