[Q] iNew V3 - bootloop after custom ROM installation - General Questions and Answers

So I installed CWM onto my iNew, booted to recovery, backed up the current ROM, wiped the phone, cleared cache, and installed the Tsunami ROM by selecting the Tsunami ROM zip file in CWM, this said it successfully installed, I rebooted the phone and alls that showed is the iNew logo, to fix I restored to my backup, tried a different ROM, same issue, does not get past boot logo, any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help given

Bump, anyone?

it is frequently due to some sort of incompatibility. make sure the rom is built of the same base your phone has installed ie. jb 4.12, kk4.4 and others. if you have jb on and try to install a kk rom, it will fail unless it is a hybrid built off jb base.
also check the op for any other specific needs to install.
im not familiar with your specific phone, just throwing some general tips out there, in hopes it will help.

(Q) Is the official CWM Recovery 6.0.4.4 working for anyone?

Hello everyone,
I tried installing a custom ROM on the Nexus 5 for the first time last night. (Note: I've installed ROM's for years on different phones.)
It seems as though there is a problem with the official CWM recovery 6.0.4.4.
I found that wiping data/factory reset and formatting system did not actually get the phone ready for a custom ROM.
After doing this and installing the custom ROM, all my APPS and settings were still installed. Android went through the process of "Upgrading Apps" instead of walking we through a new install.
Thanks!
Greg

[Q] Failed upgrade - now soft bricked

Hi all...
I tried to upgrade by Tab 2 7" to KitKat today and failed. I installed Clockworkmod successfully, but then started getting error 7's. I discovered this was because it was outdated. I've tried to install updated clockwork mod which it says has been successful - but doesn't change the original.
I did a backup of my original rom, but this has failed to reinstall. I've tried to put an old version of cyanogen on it, which also has failed, and re-downloaded the stock rom from samsfirmware which passes through ODIN, resets but then the tab 2 hangs on the Samsung screen - flashing.
I can't seem to resolve it.
Has anyone got any ideas? I can't access anything other than clockworkmod - so if you think you know of a way I can successfully upgrade it I may stand half a chance.....
Thanks
Tim

Use Odin to restore to the stock ROM. Download the stock rom from samfirmware.com and flash it in Odin as PDA. Then, use the latest recovery (either TWRP, CWM, OR PhilZ) from @Android-Andi's recovery thread in the Dev section. You should now be able to flash any ROM you want to. Make sure you do a backup and a wipe system, cache, Dalvik, data, and android secure (if it's an option.)

thanks and....
Thanks so much, does it matter that it won't boot with the stock Roma which I've installed from sams? Will the recovery program still work?

Yes, I did twice and it's still hung after apparent success installation according to Odin. I've tried it twice.
No success
Thanks
What I've done tonight is reflashed the original Rom - this time it blew away Clockworkmod. It still wouldn't boot. I then put a recovery solution on from your link, which has flashed well. However I've then tried three ROMS and each have hung after installation on the initial boot.
I'll try them again tomorrow night - but do you have any idea why three ROMS plus the stock keep failing?
Thanks
Tim

Did you wipe system, cache, Dalvik cache, and data before flashing and wipe cache and dalvik after flashing? And your tablet will bootloop after a reinstallation in Odin because Odin does not wipe before installation. After flashing in Odin, reboot recovery (make sure tablet is unplugged,) and wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache. Reboot and you should be good to go.

good idea but still no success....

Hi, I've retried all that this morning-i must admit that I didn't know about wiping cache after install, however it's not made any difference, and still hangs on first boot...
Any other ideas? Thanks for all your help.
Happy success
Hi all
Thanks for all your help, especially rcj! I have managed to recover my device using cynagodmod 9 - it wont run 10 or 11 but at least its up and working - even if it's a downgrade from the Android version I was on Really don't care as I can use it again with a lot more memory.
Thanks - without you I would never have found Phils ROM which enabled me to get this far.

Which version of PhilZ? And I have found that TWRP 2.7.1.0 works better than other versions for KK.
Sent from my SGH-T989
Use latest Philz touch recovery. And use the rom and gapps compatible to your tab. Don't forget to reset to factory setting, clear cache and wipe dalvic cache before flashing the rom and gapps ☺

[Q] [REQUEST] Nexus 5 flashing problem

Hi mates.
So, I was running CM12 nightlies on my phone but it began to get slow and buggy.
I decided to go back to stock 4.4.4, ans then flash CM11 on dit
I did full wipe (data, system, cache, dalvik), installed stock 4.4.4 (latest official build)
Then i downloaded CM installer but couldn't get it to work.
So I used Nexus foot toolkit on PC, but the flashing process went wrong somehow, just when it reboots the phone to recovery, nothing happened, no flashing process whatsoever.
From this moment, my problem had appeared
So I rebooted normally, downloaded CM11 and I was unable to flash it. Signature check failed.
I've tried OTA 5.0.1, not working either, same error.
So I am currently running latest 4.4.4 without any problem, but even after an other full wipe I'm not able to flash anything, custom or stock. My recovery is the latest TWRP from the Google play app.
Could you please help me ? I don't mind wiping my phone, and I'd prefer a "no PC" solution but I still can use a PC if needed.
Thanks

[Completed] My T999 is Bricked. Loop on CWM and STOCK Rom is not flashing.

Hello guys,
I just have installed the stock Jellybean update on my phone, already with cwm, I rooted it, and it was working just fine.
Then I flashed the TWRP Custom Recovery, and I wanted the CM 12.1 back, so I tried to do that, normally, and the TWRP said that it wasn't possible, ok, I just flashed the CWM again, the touch version. So, after installing it, I flashed the CM 12.1, the Gapps (only the play store), and in a while it was saying that the Play Store cashed, and I downloaded de PA Gapps and tried to install it normally, without wiping anything, and it Failed.
I searched the FAQ #6, I guess, I read that PA Gapps was supposed to be installed right after I install my ROM, and I opened the CWM Recovery and I don't remember exactly what I did, but I wiped everything that I saw, and then tried to flash the CM 12.1 again by the sdcard1, and it didn't work. I tried everything, seriously. And after a while, I tried to wipe dalvik cache, WHITOUT A SD CAR INSERTED, and it says: E: unkown volume for path [ sd-ext ]
And almost everything on the CWM that I try to do crashes, the back image of the CWM appears and then the cellphone reboot, in a bootloop, because there is no ROM flashed on it, because I wiped everything that I saw, and I'm not able to install anything.
MY CELLPHONE IS NOW A BRICK!!! haha
Please, help me. guys. I'll try to do everything that you guys will say.
Thanks!

Flashing custom rom not working (recovery loop - messy data folder) MiNote10 (tucana)

Hej everyone,
I flashed a custom rom from mi-globe a few months. It was working great. Then I had the not so incredible idea of updating with latest miui eu 12, because the weekly update from the update menu was not working. It kinda worked, but it got too buggy. So I wanted to come back to a xiaomiEU Stable Rom.
It is now that problems begin. When I flashed miui eu 12, I got recovery loop. Lost all my data trying to fix, but I was able to flash the stock rom via the amazing XiaomiADBFastbootTools in my GNU/Linux distro. It worked! But the main issue is can not flash the custom rom again. I download the custom rom in the internal storage, flash the twrp via fastboot, enter recovery, create full backup, wipe to factory reset and flash the custom rom. Everything seems successful, but then I get a recovery loop again and when I try to restore the backup, the data folder is filled with folders and files with random chars in the names. Apparently the data folder becomes read-only for some reason as well. Then I have to flash the stock rom and tried everything again. I have done it at least 5 times now. I have searched a lot for some solution and nothing works
I have tried the OrangeFox recovery and the mi-globe rom, same issue. I really want a custom rom , but I have no idea what to do anymore. If I could at least restore my backed up stock rom, it would help a lot.
Please help me out and sorry I posted in the wrong section.
