[Q] Custom Rom Queston - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys
Recently I installed a Custom ROM for my Samsung Galaxy Discover SCH-R740C. Which is a very nice ROM built by cowboyenvy.

Which made me decide i would like to try to build my own Custom rom to my liking ROM for my Samsung Galaxy Discover SCH-R740C but i have a question regarding the system camera. After i installed the Custom ROM i noticed that the Camera was different from the Stock Camera. The Stock Camera DOES NOT have the ability to use the VOLUME BUTTON on the side of the phone for snapshots. But the the System Camera in the custom ROM is a completely different camera and HAS THE ABILITY to to use the VOLUME BUTTON to take snapshots with.
How do i completely remove and replace the system camera in my Custom ROM build to one of my liking that has the ABILITY to use the VOLUME BUTTON for snapshots? I can not seem to find a Camera APK. all i can find is some files such as camera.msm7627a.so, some other camera ogg files and a camera. jar and odex file. What do i need to do to replace the sytem camera and where do i locate some system cameras to use in my custom rom?

After installing go to languages and input and check Android Key board
Hope it will be useful.
Download and Install
Now, getting it on your device is going to be easy for some of you, and less easy for others. You'll need to be on Android 4.0+, to start.
If you're on a phone with a UI overlay that has the stock keyboard disabled (eg, Samsung TouchWiz, HTC Sense, Sony), you can just download the apk below- no root required. To install, make sure you have "install from unknown sources" enabled in your phone settings, and after installation, go into your phone's keyboard settings and enable "Android keyboard." Then, you can switch to the new keyboard. This may also work on some "stock" Android custom ROMs - but it will not work on stock Android builds distributed by Google.
Get the apk here: http://d-h.st/XuS
If the apk doesn't work, you're running a phone that is either A.) running stock Android (as in, AOSP), or B.) running software that has the stock Android keyboard as an option, you'll need to download this ZIP file, and flash it in recovery. That also means you're going to need root. as you'll be writing to /system/apps. Before you do, though, either back up the stock keyboard (if you don't know how, you probably shouldn't be doing this) or create a full image backup, just in case. Here's that ZIP file:

Need help with my mtk6589 device

Hey all, I was updating the system apps of my mtk6589 device (infinix X451 - RBoltQ, android 4.2.1) device ie calender, email , deskclock, launcher etc to that of the android 4.4Kkat . Thay all worked perfectly it felt cool. I then updated my camera to that android 4.2.2 (all done with root explorer and link2SD ). Later on I came across the google camera. It always FC so I thought maybe making it a system app (using Link2SD) & deleting my other camera apps will resolve the issue. This didn't work . I even changed some lib files like I saw on a blog (libjn...mosaic,liblightcycle, lib..google.. - backed them all manually 1st though) still no avail. Now I restored the normal camera and the lib files, with their required permissions (root explorer) but ALL CAMERA apps installed FC ..even with a hard reset, the camera icon is NO LONGER there , only the gallery (for the stock camera). Apps like Antutu BM and Dx toolbox can't detect the camera (front and rear) or say Not supported. Same with apps that use Cam or flash or both. Flashlight too is no longer available while I noticed that the Glauncher now FC when I want to change wallpaper and the STOCK RECOVERY now shows an android with a red exclamaition mark. Gone 3 weeks without the camera, FL and now going through blogs and forums & I just don't know what to do.. Please any help will be appreciated as I don't want to loose my mtk device or its camera - even as my joy of getting my first android smartphone last year (dec 29) is turning into a nightmare. Thanks in advance.
(Sorry mods if I posted in the wrong section, kindly help me move it to the right place if possible, thanks)
Did you make backup before? I don't think so. Try to flash stock recovery and then install stock ROM (or custom ROM).

[Q] anhother cam aap instead stock app

hi there
i want to replace Xc stock Camera app with another , how i can do it?(when i press cam physical key the new app would open).
im using dark z2 rom.
tnx
You have to replace the camera application in the zip file of your Custom Rom.
Go to system>>app>> there you will find the camera app. >> replace it and reflash the ROM.
OR
Install Root Explorer>> go to System>>app>> there you replace the stock camera application >> reboot your device.

Snapdragon Camera

Hey,
I just installed cm13.1 by Team Superluminal on my mi4c. Somehow I can't find snapdragon Camera on my device. Can someone please post a flashable zi for the app. Regards
It's already the default camera app. No need to flash anything. To enable some more advanced feature though, tap 7 times on Screen Brightness option and it will unlock additional setting.
For me it is not installed the only camera app I can find is the Google camera. I used the open GApps stock package. Maybe this somehow replaces the default camera app?

I guess. In all of my flashing i install the mini package though.
So can anybody please extract the snapcamera app as zip or apk and post it here. Would help me a lot. I think it's possible using fe titanium backup.
Edit I tried reflashing the rom without GApps. No changes : Google camera remains the standard camera apk

You need to wipe before reflashing the ROM, otherwise Google Camera may remain.
Use a version of the GApps that does not contain Google Camera. Google Camera replaces your default Snapdragon Camera: https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Package-Comparison

Umidigi S2 Lite missing Camera App

Played around with installing TWRP so I could try and flash LineageOS
Couldn't get it to flash, so I just flashed the stock firmware released by Umidigi
Now even after multiple formats and flashes of different firmware versions (All official stock FW) my camera app is missing
Upon going into App Manager the Camera App does appear in it and I can forcestop it, but no way of getting onto the camera, downloading Camera Apps from Play Store doesn't work either as it says the camera is either busy or not found
Unsure what to do, I've flashed and flashed, everything's back to stock too, once you format or flash and the phone sets up, the app icon is missing on the homescreen where it's meant to be
