Tasker and CM Profiles - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I love the profiles but can't see a way of getting them to be triggered by time for instance.
Is there a way of doing it in Tasker or Trigger?
In Tasker, and using a Settings Activity, the closest I can get is to launch the profiles pane but not set anything.
Cheers.

As a work around you could remake the profiles in Tasker an trigger them as a Task.

Nice, another Brightonian with the OPO!
I was actually wondering the same thing yesterday, I didn't find any answers though.

I'm just using the Trigger app and the profiles I saved to it's cloud from my Z2. All good for now.

I don't think there are any APIs to control the ringer. In addition, there isn't a GOOD way to run something like this in the background. It'd have up to a 30 minute lag. We'd need Microsoft to add the equivalent of iOS's geofences.
This would be great...
Have it automatically switch to vibrate/0 Volumbe while at work, and Some other setting while at home.
Well that would explain why I havent seen one. Didnt even really think about the background task thing. Thanks!

Tasker - Smart Extension/Notifier [ Update 26-01-2014 ]

I have created a small extension, that can show me tasker tasks on my watch and execute then
tested this on my SW2 hope this helps somebody else
update 02-11-2013
source code for a simple Tasker extension that forwards messages to the smartwatch, i use it all the time
https://github.com/babanomania/SmartwatchNotifier
The tasker notifier app is now available on the play store and is compatible with both the MN1 and SW2
for the SW2 users, they can execute more tasks from the menu options
Tasker Smart Extentions - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.babanomania.smartwatch.tasker
Tasker Smart Notifier - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.babanomania.tasker.notifier
update 26-01-2014
added the notifier app that supports the MN1 and SW2
added screenshots for the notifier app
fixed a bug in version 1.0.4, now tasks should run perfectly from notification menu
update 26-10-2013
1. Added a setting to select tasks of specific Tasker projects
2. Changed the colors a bit and changed 1 or 2 icons

Tasker smart extension
Wow it works!, the only bug i can notice for now is when click on certain task it just display "Go Back", have to scroll up to see "Run Now" button.
Maybe you can add option to enable/disable Profile as well, but so far all works as it intended to.
Good job!
actually I am also searching for ways to enable / disable profiles, haven't found anything in the tasker developers page

Can confirm that little "bug". But extension works so far. Thanks.
Maybe you can add a list in extension app with the tasks, so you can select only the tasks you want and not all tasks. That would be cool.

i'm not really familiar with tasker, but would it be possible to control my PC mouse with it?
on my S3 i'm using unified remote to move my mouse around desktop, would be so handy if i can do it from my watch. i sent an email to developers but they do not answer at all. i hate that kind of support.

i just updated the app with a setting to select specific tasker projects.
unfortunately still searching for a way to enable / disable profiles, if you guys have any ideas please help
How can i select what a specific task is (in your picture "smartwatch")? Only can choose base and all, but both are the same tasks.
A list with all tasks in your extension app would be fine, so i can choose the one i want.
But so far, good app :good:
actually i have created a new project called smartwatch in tasker either you can select a specific project or select all projects , base is the just the default project tasker has

would love it very much if u could create a task that can automatically clear all the notifications of a particular companion app on the watch whenever that particular phone app is in foreground.

Wouldn't it be nice if...

... if you could swipe left / right on the watch and scroll through your custom watchfaces configurations?
This way you'd have everything in place according to the situation, like having a watchface for sports with counters and music controls, then with one swipe you put your watch in the office configuration with calendar and email, or in navigation mode for riding a motorcycle.
Any takers of such a task?

Thank you for sharing your opinion.
On one side I tend to agree with you - in the end this is just a watch and a single watchface should suffice, provided you can squeeze in all your necessary widgets.
However, due to the recent developments in the custom widgets area I DO feel the need to have more than a single configuration available preferably through a simple gesture.
I wonder if this could be achieved by means of swipe or some sort of navigation widget or even a menu that would allow you to switch between your custom (not built-in) watchface configurations (3 would suffice)

I couldn't agree with you more, can't believe Sony haven't implemented this! Surely they've thought of it?
Have you tried contacting them? Would be a simple implementation for them.

I would rather not turn my hopes to Sony - they did a great job with the updates but they take too long to move or respond to their users, if at all.
Rather than this being a firmware level functionality I thought it more in the terms of a "dynamic" shortcut application that would increment or decrement a slot number based on the swipe direction (left-/right+) and then trigger (after a very short timeout) the built in selector to display the corresponding watchface for the resulting slot #.
Of course, this app would have to run in the background to capture the swipes when the screen is on.
Alternatively, this could be achieved with 2 widgets - left/right - no swipe would then be necessary.

Nobody has hacked the on watch software as far as I know, so it would have to come from hacking the phone watch designer, I guess as you mention via watchface widgets. Asking manu0466 for thoughts would be a good place to start, as he's already hacked the software in some way.

I'm sorry, but you got me wrong - I was talking about an app that would use the new widget capability of the watch, NOT about a hack of any sort.
Maybe someone who understands the limits of the Sony SDK could shed a light on this matter?

So you'd need widgets whose functionality and design can change dynamically.
While possible, I think that would be a complicated way of achieving the objective, considering the interaction with different apps by different developers.
There would have to be a middle layer added in, interacting with a watch face widget on one side and various apps on the other.

You don't need to open the smartwatch app on your phone to change the watch face, just unlock the watch and go into settings/watch face

The challenge would be to replace this action on the watch with a tap on a widget or, better yet, with a swipe gesture.

If the Camera App doesn't have that option under Settings and your phone is rooted, you can disable it using a
root explorer App and navigate to: system/media/audio/ui
and rename the file "camera_click.ogg" to whatever you want.
This isn't really a solid solution to your problem (could be a hassle to you), but if you put your phone on silent or vibrate you will not hear the shutter sound go off! This works for me as because my phone is always in vibrate mode from the moment I wake up, however like i said not a solid solution if you don't prefer silent or vibrate mode.
Just mute your ringer. It works, at least in EU version.

The option doesn’t exist in the settings. Muting the phone before every time I use the camera is too much of a nuisance since I keep the sound on for other apps.
So, since my phone is rooted, your option of renaming the sound file is the best one for me. Tried it and it worked perfectly.
Thank you!

The option in settings is a custom ROM feature that some ROMs have. Keep in mind that removing the .ogg won't disable the sound for the HDR+ mode in Google Camera, as its embedded into the apk. You could use a Tasker profile to mute it when your camera app is open, too.

I purchased Tasker long ago, just to support the author, but to my shame I have not yet learned how to use it...... ?
That would indeed be a good use for Tasker. Maybe I will find a ready made profile (if that's what they are called) that someone else donated.
Thanks for the suggestion.

OK here you go man. Let me know if you have any issues. I did test it. If you have notification sound issues while this profile is active (only while in camera app) let me know. I'll find a workaround.
Make sure you remove the .XML extension (leave the .prl). Move to SDCARD/Tasker/Autoimport. Relaunch Tasker.
