Game Controllers - Galaxy Tab S Accessories

What are you guys and gals using as far as gaming controllers. I have a PS3 and Xbox One controller at home. Just wondering if either can be easily used with the Tab S. Just purchased Modern Combat 5. So far I've played it on the G3 and Nvidia Shield.

controller recharges the tablet
is it possible to connect the controller (that has a battery pack) to the tablet and recharge the tablet?
eg. can a xbox one controller, that has a battery pack, be connected with an mhl cable/usb cable to a tablet and be used to charge the tablet?

Finally figured it out...just in time for my trip!
I ended up buying the Red Samurai controller from Gamestop for $15.
I am able to connect and use with retroarch. Just needed to install the free app, Bluez IME. Takes a bit of configuring but once it's set, the controller works flawlessly.
The app and retroarch even has a reconfigured profile for the controller.

Great suggestion. I'm thinking buy the Moga Pro but this is cheaper and it is more similar with PS controller.
Can you tell me if you can play in emulators such as the PSP emulator?

Has anyone tried an original xbox wireless controller with the receiver connected to the usb (via adapter)? The receiver seems to has power,
but the controller wont connect. PS3 controller works though.

my xbox controller doesnt work, as others have said. so how would I go about getting a ps3 controller to work? is it a wired one and can i pick up any cheap ps3 controller?

The sixaxis app does recognize my ps3 controller (afaik there are only wireless with optional cable), but only with cable plugged in. Bluetooth does not work, though the controller
has the right master adress.
Ok the problem seems to be the pairing. If paired from the tablet, it wont work... if paired from the pc, it works.

see I know sod all about the ps3 pad, I dont even know what pairing on the PC means or how you would set it up...

Hello!
Did anyone connect SteelSeries Free controller to the Tab S? I'm thinking about getting one and I would like to make sure that it will work.

Trying to pair red samurai wireless tablet controller with my tab s
the bluetooth can see the device, but when i select it to pair the device with my tablet, it asks me to confirm the PIN code for the device, which is displayed when i select to pair. But it fails to pair every time because I don't see any dialog box or anything pop up to enter the PIN code to pair successfully.

red samurai controller (GameStop)
Using the red samurai controller with all playstore emulators works well but with a little lag between button press and action.
BTW GameStop has it for 8 bucks and the tab recognizes it via Bluetooth no problem

Ordered MOGA Mobile Android Gaming System . £10.99 from Amazon ... Im sure there are flaws but for that price i don't lose much.. Find out next week when its delivered as to how many it has

The PS3 controller is the best way to go for me...
I bought the red samurai for $8 also just to play emulators..
The controller paid with no problems and I was able to map all the keys but the lag from button press to In game action was unbareable
The PS3 was fussy to set up but it's more 1to1 responsive..

If you are using the red samurai v2 you do not need blue imz, it should just work.. or at least it does for me. I also have not noticed any input lag even vs a usb controller I was using over usb otg until I decided I wanted to be able to charge and use a controller at the same time. I have also used the same red samurai v2 on my win 8.1 htpc just for testinf and it paired right away and worked with near 0 input lag.

Im just using sixaxis controller

Fixed it! I installed it on my tab s ? I installed bluetooth autoconnect and then bluetooth terminal which is in wears Polish or Russian or so but I used it to scan for connecting devices and it saw the device... then went to bluetooth settings in tab s and it stood there ready to pair with !!! Me happy !!!

[Q] PS3 Controller and transformer

Is it possible to pair a PS3 controller with the transformer?
AFAIK the ps3 controller are designed to pair over USB and then use bluetooth for transmission. So far there have not been many successful attempts at getting ps3 controllers to connect. The only solutions i'm aware of are either the Datel wireless classic controller for the Wii, or using a Wiimote with a classic or classic pro plugged in to it. I use the last option and it works well on my Evo.
Haven't tried it on the transformer yet as i got FOTA-bricked
has anyone tried the phonejoy?
I thought heard 3.1 brought usb support for this, may have been the a different controller...

Is everyone getting both joysticks working on their PS3 controllers? I've tried 2 Sony PS3 controllers (Wired) and a Logitech Wireless with USB Dongle. All three controllers work great except when trying to map keys for emulators (N64, PSX4Droid) its not getting anything when I try to map directions to the right joystick.

I guess this makes the laptop dock more appealing to me..
I believe the Wiimote can be used wirelessly.
Has anyone got right stick on PS3 controller working? Seems it only can see left one... Or it's not mapped properly Been trying to play some games via MyDesktop, and still can't find a way to enable mouselook... Not with USB mouse, nor with trackpad.

Here's what I have, and it works great. It's just the standard PS3 wireless controller, plugged into the Transformer keyboard dock through the USB cable. Though I haven't gotten two controllers to work at the same time yet for two player games, but I only played with it for a few minutes so far...

Q: Best controller for playing retro emulators on a TV?

So I got a shield for on the go emulators as well as to replace my hacked Wii to play games on my tv. I mainly play snes, nes and Genesis games. The classic controller on the Wii worked pretty good because of its responsive dpad and it didn't cause crazy blisters like some other ones. My question for the community is if you could recommend one that is easy to bind the keys and is good for what I'm going to be using it for. Thanks!

Simply because he wants it plugged into the TV to use it as a Game-Box (like a Wii, an Ouya, etc), and wants a controller to sit back on the couch with for some big-screen Retro action. Not exactly great to have an HDMI cord hanging out of the back of your controller while you try to use it to play on the big screen.
However, I'll mirror the PS3 wireless controllers (mebbe PS4 too, but I have yet to try those so I can't comment). If you can't swing a BT controller then you can get a USB-OTG adaptor for the micro USB connector and plug an Xbox360 controller into that, works pretty well on my tablets and Ouya. However, wireless... PS3 sixaxis wireless controllers are generally the best, but there are some more than decent ones on the market otherwise.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. OUYA controller works just fine; confirmed by me
It just doesn't work out of the box, you have to have root and the attached file to the keylayouts folder. Don't forget to change permissions to rw-r--r--
The only problem is that there is no start button. May be someone can manipulate the file into making the big U button press start.
I've given in an ordered the Nvidia controller.
OK been using sixaxis app and ps3 controller with some success, although come across some issues. Half Life 2 seems to work but its a bit odd. The D pad works fine to select in the main menu but not in the sub menus, also the other problem is there appears to be no way of changing weapons which is an issue after picking up a gun there's no way of getting through wood blocking door ways. Anyone got a fix?

1.) Root Device, Install Root Explorer
2.) Download Vendor_2836_Product_0001.kl
3.) place Vendor_2836_Product_0001.kl in /system/usr/keylayout/ in Nvidia Shield
4.) set permissions on kl to rw-r--r--
5.) Reboot Shield Tablet, needed for kl file to take affect.
6.) Put Ouya Controller in pair mode and pair with tablet
7.) Done

should just be an otg cable.
I am using the Nyko Playpad Pro
I purchased this controller from Tmart, a ChiCom, and made sure it was shipping from one of their US warehouses. Otherwise, it will take 4 to 12 weeks for delivery, due to customs. It arrived in under a week.
It works great with an OTG cable. I played Bard's Tale from start to finish with this controller, mirroring the screen on my TV. It's got a 9 foot long cable or so. My only real complaint with it is that the headphone jack in the bottom is non-functional, they even made it too small to insert a headphone jack into. Otherwise, it works just fine. All the buttons function well with solid feedback, none of them are mushy. The large X button in the center functions as the home button and the right stick controls a mouse when you are at your homescreen. I'd prefer the left stick control the mouse but I can live with the right stick doing it.

Controller for Tab S 10.5

For some odd reason my Bluetooth won't turn on anymore, so my controller is useless now.

I'm not talking specifically about 360 controllers though. I'm asking if there's ANY wired controller that is known to work with this tablet. ANY brand.
Before I got my wireless bluetooth controller I was using a Game Elements Recoil model GGE909 over a dirt cheep usb otg adaptor. I never could get my usb Xbox controller to work so I just fell back on an old cheep usb one I had and it worked great aside from taking up a usb port. My galaxy tab s is the 8.4 wifi model so I can't guarantee it will work but it probably should with your 10.5.

For usb controllers and usb otg I tend to find the ones that don't need special drivers or programs to run on windows tend to work the best.
The bluetooth controller I got is the gamestop red samurai v2. Nice layout, good buttons and triggers(not analouge though), well placed analouge sticks for the few android apps that support those, and great compatability. Overall I really like it and best of all gamestop is getting rid of tablet accessories so they are dirt cheep.

ah I assume thats over in the US and not available here in the UK :*(
how much is dirt cheap as I do have some friends over there and if its that cheap, might be worth having one sent.
I picked up my near console (unlike the ouya) grade controller for $7.97 U.S. No clue what they cost online, but most of the gamestops that still have tablet accessories are selling those accessories cheaply to reduce inventory that the company is moving away from.

Game Controller???

Hello all,
I have a stock, non-rooted N6P. I've never attempted to play heavy gaming on it. I was wondering if I wanted to add a controller to play some games that may require it what would I need? A controller that I can add and remove, would allow me to play games better as I have bigger hands. Any help is appreciated!!
Figured this was the appropriate section to ask since the controller stuff would be accessories.
I use my PS4 controller for gaming on my 6P if you have the right cables and controller it recognizes it as a gamepad.
PS4 is the cheapest option if you already have a PS4 controller.
I have the Moga controller. It's a good controller. I play Modern Combat 5 a lot with it.

That's all because they both are Bluetooth. You can also use a (Xbox 360 or one, Steam, and etc) Controller if you don't mine using a otg cable. But do note that not all games work with an controller or may need you to map the controller out properly.
It's either a PS4 or Moga or whatever is out there. With a PS4 controller, you will need a clip that attaches from your controller to hold your phone, ps4 controller and USB C to Micro USB cable and that's it.
Or just a Moga controller and Bluetooth and its all set. Both are the same price if you do not have a PS4 controller.
I have both and I like the PS4 controller but the cable and the clip cost roughly $25ish and I got the Moga for $10 on Black Friday but if it wasn't on sale then PS4 controller would be my option.

I don't think the PS4 can be mapped. Also for the cable. You need a Micro USB to USB-C. Cannot use a OTG or it won't communicate.
The Moga has a nice clip. I just put the phone on and its all set. Doesn't affect the volume buttons unless it's the Google Adopted case which we all know it sucks.
It has this rubber grip film on it and it has a light spring tension on it. Enough to hold the phone but not adjust the volume.

For using a controller can you use a PS3 remote? Just curious because a family member has one laying around that they're not using.
I wouldn't mind a decent controller for my 6P, though I don't really want to use a wired connection.
I have a Gamestick controller (ingot the whole lot for £20) and it works OK, but obviously no clip.
Anyone know of any good alternatives to Moga that are similar? Seem to be hadd to get in the Uk.
You could also try a UtorCase for a handheld experience https://www.shapeways.com/product/ZEHXUVT25/ps4-controller-huawei-nexus-6p
xbox and nvidia controller mounts are available as well.
