Hi!
I have a Sony Bravia Tv with no built in Wifi that I'd like to connect to the internet. The TV has an ethernet port.
I recently acquired a Neo X5 that has an ethernet port, and what I want to do is use this device, which is connected to my home wifi network, and share/tether/bridge it through the ethernet port to the TV.
Can this be done?
Thank you! and sorry for my english.

I think the easiest solution is to get a second wifi router which can act as a client bridge. Basically you connect both the X5 and the TV to this second router with cables and "bridge" the wifi interface with the main home wifi router. I have such a solution at home.
How I have set it up is:
- My main router is a D-Link DIR-825 running DD-WRT.
- My second (=bridge) router is also a DIR-825 running DD-WRT
- My PVR, BD Player, Receiver and Minix X7 are all connected via ethernet to the bridge router
- The 2,4GHz band on the main router is used by our laptops, phones, tablets, etc.
- The second router connects to the 5GHz wifi band of the main router. This band is reserved solely for media streaming.
Hope this helps.

AKA reverse-tethering.
I tried to find info on that subject and it's impossibly scarce. Very strange as I am sure there are a lot of guys that don't have 3g connection.
So how to do it?
Is it possible to configure Bluetooth PAN and do it like the WM6.5 guides say?
Is it possible through USB connection?
Easiest way is on a PC with a wireless network adapter and Windows 7.
Use the Virtual Router Manager http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/ to set up your computer as a wireless router that you can connect your phone to.
I use it a lot when I am travelling / working and a hotel room or office only has wired internet. I can connect the laptop to the ethernet then share up the connection via my wireless LAN.
Connect Dell Streak to PC using Connectify software
Couldn't use Virtual Router with my Dell Streak, but Connectify 2.1 Beta 4 works!
Make sure your driver supports this function. VirtualRouter website provides with a list of compatible network cards (link).
In addition, only Win7 supports this service.
Download for Beta version of Connectify is in the Blog section.
Laptop: Latitude E4300.
Os: Win7 32 Pro.
.Net 4.0.
Network card: Dell 1510 N (broadcom BCM94322MC8L / driver 5.30.21.0).
Mobile: Dell Streak AT&T (Android 2.1).
Connectify 2.1.0.16290 (Beta 4)

Try the wpa_adhoc-signed.zip from this thread: "Android Ad-hoc support hack/wpa_supplicant"
I had the same problem, but this solved it. My HTC Desire sees now AdHoc access points.

This worked perfectly! I am using an external USB Wireless WiFi Network Adapter to connect my laptop to the internet, so I don't know if that makes a difference. Thanks for sharing the info!!!
Hi all,
Hope you can help.
I know there are plenty of applications that will allow me to use androids 3g connection and turn it into a wifi hotspot, however, what I need to do is use a PC's internet connection and use my android desire z as a router to allow other PC's to connect to the same network. The PC does not have wifi or a router and is connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable.
Many thanks,
Martin
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone knows of an Android app that will allow me to share the lan connection on my tablet via wifi?
Have looked at lots of hotspot type apps but the vast majority are simple shortcuts to an exisiting wifi hotspot function that shares the mobile data connection.
Seems daft to me that I have lan and wifi on my tablet but I'm looking at an ap to connect my other devices!
Thanks
Jin
I didnt understand what u said
If u want to share ur tab net to other use wifi hotspot
If u have wifi connection u can connect via wifi

Are you trying to tether your data connection or do you mean using your tablet as a hub for an existing wifi connection?
What phone do you have?
What carrier?
Did you root your phone?
Have you flashed a new ROM?
Sorry but you were rather vague in your post.

Ok thanks. To clarify my tablet (not phone and therefore no carrier involved) has both ethernet and wifi I would like to use the ethernet to connect to my network/internet and then broadcast that connection via wifi.
This is exactly the same thing a normal wifi hotspot does except it broadcasts the mobile data connection as opposed to a wired connection.
The tablet has been flashed with Tims 6 ROM
Don't now if it's possible. On phone it;s not possible to share be a hotspot when you're on wifi. I guess it uses the same piece of hardware. That might also be the case for you with the LAN.
BTW try talking to this guy :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735708
he had sort of the same question perhaps he figured it out?
edit: This is also you i now see.. never mind

How do you have your tablet connected to the internet, wireless or wired? If wired, how did you do that? If it's wireless, you're just using your tablet as a signal booster.
What i'm confused on is if you connected your tablet wireless and want to connect other devices to your tablet's "wifi" which in essence is wifi, why can't that device connect to the same internet as your tablet?
I think we're all a bit confused on what you're trying to accomplish.
Sorry folks struggling here with what you don't get (not being smart just confused)
I have an Android tablet that has both wifi and an ethernet connection, I connect to my network via ethernet and want to use that connection to then create a wifi hotspot for my other devices to connect to.
I already do this with my win7 laptop and am looking for an app to do the same on the tablet.
If my terminology is correct I need to bridge the lan connection to the wifi adapter?
Hello!
I have Samsung Galaxy S2
I want to get Internet on my phone from notebook using bluetooth adapter (Wifi router is absent)
Files are transfered from adapter successfully, but phone doesn't have internet access
Adapter is configured as a network device (ip address, gate, etc).
But it looks like the phone does not understand that access to Internet is possible using bluetooth adapter .
Tell me, please, how phone should be configured ?
You can share only the internet phone(data or wifi) with the bluetooth tethering or the USB.
But I don't think is possible with pc, the only way is to buy a small Wireless adapter (in my country a mini usb 150mbps adapter costs about 10€) and use it as a hotspot
I think your laptop is connected to the Internet via LAN cable so your wireless adapter is unused. So maybe you can use connectify which turns your computer's WLAN Adapter into a wireless router.

Hey guys I need help here pls
I've a Samsung Smart TV (without WIDI ) but a LAN support to which I used to connect my 150Mbps Wireless N ADSL2+ Modem Router to which there was a phone line providing the INTERNET.
It really was helpful as it allowed Wireless Internet for Laptop and my Phone ,Tablet (Essential ) + the Internet via cable to TV + DLNA support to TV to stream videos /music /pictures from Laptop/Tablet /Phone.
Now I've moved to a remote place and got no BB connection and only have WiMax / 3G/4G Dongle option
At the moment I'm using my Phone 3G for Internet , I was wondering if I could use this 3G internet to TV via the WiFi Router and also allow me to use internet on phone and Laptop while using the DLNA to stream media .
In order to Stream from Laptop / Tablet / Phone I've to disconnect from the 3G internet access Network to the no internet access network of wifi router connect to TV
Any Chance
Summary : Samsung Smart TV (No WiDi but LAN support ) + Wifi Router + Phone/Dongle 3G
