hello guys,
i have been asking for a noob friendly guide for almost a week now, but finally i got one, you can visit the guide from http://hemorrdroids.net/overclocking-your-desire-z/
All credits goes to JD
ps: that guide is for the Desire Z, the only thing you need to change in the kernel module
Good luck all

I'm surprised that you find that a noob friendly guide. You've been given easier ways of doing this in this forum, that don't involve even having to connect your phone to your pc. Still, if you find it more comfortable that's fine, as long as you end up with the result you want.

Thanks.

Hey guy's I'm new to the forum and was wondering if there is any easy ways to unlock, root and install clockwork recovery using a mac computer? Everything I find online is for using a windows pc. I'm currently using snow leopard is and updated my sensation to ICS. Please help with info not negative feedback! I know I'm a noob, I have no shame in that. Thanx.

Hi welcome, I've also done a search on rooting with mac and found many questions with few answers as you know.it might even be easier if no one has any clear answers for you to borrow a friend's windows computer and to root that way . It won't take that long and will be a whole lot easier for you. I'm truly sorry I don't have a clear answer but I wanted to offer this solution. If it were me, this is what I would do. I wish you the best and if you don't find a definite answer, this could be a option for you. Good luck. Keep us posted on what you decide to do.

The speculation thread has filled up with pointless questions on the ROM. (I.E - non development info)
Examples...
'How do I disable vibration?'
'How do I turn off keyboard sound?'
Etc
Time to keep it simple, here is the Q&A thread, post any questions you have here, about the official updates.
Is there a flashable zip file to root thos new RUU?

Yes. Pull it out from the RUU .exe file yourself or download it from the thread

Oops
Was a bit unsure of this at first, but in a sense its not just 1 question per thread, its a thread for questions and answers/tips etc,
Hmmm...

Its probably a better idea anyway, because more people look in the General forum than in the Q&A...
It just made me smile that this thread is called [Q&A]

Yes it is. However, if you want to disable the 3D widgets, it will be possible with ultrasmooth Rosie

I got 2 little questions:
1. How can I change the first day of the calendar from Sunday to Monday?
2. Why my "network provided time zone" is GMT+3, if I'm in Romania (GMT+2)? OK, I changed manually, but ... why?
Thanks!

1) not on Sense, so can't check, but go to calendar settings, and there is am option to change the first day of the week.
2)reboot the phone or try changing sim card

that link says, Install Desire S official ICS update and keep S-OFF and RECOVERY, but I think I have stock DS so it means my S-ON right?
I installed the rom and its quite nice - but there are two main problems, which i can't manage to solve on my own. ..
1. After disabling the spelling correction, it should be off - but in some apps, like trillian, its still activated. Didn't have that problem on 2.3
2. Same for vibrate feedback. Turned it off - but it's still on while typing in my apps.
Thats annoying while chatting ~_~
--------- Solved ----------
Should have looked further. .. found the options to disable both in the Touch Input Keyboard options. ..

I have a question regarding the update. I have a stock Desire S that is network locked on Orange. Do it need to unlock before the update, or should I proceed as normal?

Turn off your phone, battery out, then put it back in, press the volume down button while pressing the power button at the same time, it will say on there somewhere s-on or s-off

Haven't got a clue. Just a few suggestions;-
1) Read the rules of XDA
2) Post in the Q&A forum for your device as you are more likely tofind someone who can help
3) Don't 'Bump' your own posts

Sorry it seemed like a general android question. Can anyone help me or do I need to move this thread elsewhere?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
If your running the classic Android Market, you need to install Google Play Store since Google has discontinued the classic Market in favor for the Play store, just search for an apk in the Internet for your device.
My mate has bought this Android set top box made my Strong. Model number is NRT-4
Seems to be running very generic vanilla ICS but he want's to run an app on both phone and STB which allows him to control the STB from his phone but the STB server app requires root.
No threads exist here for it so I guess no one has any confirmed method for rooting it yet. Is there a method for rooting generic android devices? It requires SU and Busybox. Cheers
Sorry my englisch is not that great and could you provide a picture of it or a link?
Then maybe I could help you
