Extracting Boot Image from tar.md5

As the Title says. Could someone tell me how to extract the Boot Image and the system and META-INF folder from the ROM I downloaded?

first u can change extension from .tar.md5 to .tar then you can use for example Total Commander.

I can't seem to find the system and META-INF folders. Any clue's as to where to look?

oooo got it. These folders don't belong to Odin/.tar packages but to CWM/.zip files. Files that are included in .tar packages have extensions .bin or .img. There are no folders there.

First thing-- if you are a n00b without much knowledge about ROM/Kernel/ etc.. Dont venture into the ROM development etc. world u will end up screwing the device.. Read,understand,ask.. then when u feel u know enough go ahead--
Still if you want to know--Then--
Put the factoryfs.img,cache.img into the original update folder of HTC kitchen.. then Open the kitchen using Cygwin.. And tap option 1.. then press enter .. then press 1..then wait it will extract.. then when u get a set of instructions.. Open ext2explore and select the new ext4_factoryfs.img in WORKING FOLDER-sytem.. then right click and save.. It will extract the system--
There u get your /system... Thats what I did

Yes for a guide--there are plenty of them so far I have come across 4 tutorials .. But for a beginner I suggest you go to the Galaxy SL android development forum and check the tutorial made by bangalorerohan.. There is still lot that goes into making a Custom ROM but that tutorial should help to get you started.. Also follow that guide to the T and u will be able to make one for the Galaxy SL .. You can use it to make for other phones also but some aspects may change...

I'm sure I can handle all of that. If there's a way to unbrick, then that's just too good. It takes my fear of flashing roms away. I don't care how long it takes. I just need a path to follow.

If the device is soft bricked u can unbrick .. Hard bricked u will have to take it to service centre....

yes.. you dont need to download SEEDER from play store .. just use terminal emulator

In my case adrenaline boost and tm work, boot time increased , took long time to start scanning media , seeder work (after deleting file in system/bin) but I prefer use the app , because it has option to choose the lag reducer level , ram usage about 100 mb with v6

Reviewed your package even more further and I found that you have no enough knowledge on such scripts making.
Maybe you didn't check your script before publishing, I don't know, your package just got too much placebo/bull****s, stucking in the device, conflicting each others.
Please, remove the ENTIRE work of mine eg: Adrenaline Boost / Task Manager / Engine / As long as it's mine. Because I don't want other people to say "ImbaWind's scripts suck donkey's ball, they don't work at all !"
I'll check this page back in few days, if it's still there, I'll look mod for help.

hi can anyone that has experience do me a mod for the power button extended menu all i want its off,restart,recovery,download mode and screenshot. as a flahsable zip... as i read the guide and could not find or the guy didnt especified how to do it.. i could not found the res,value ect.. in the framework-res.apk
and if it isnt too much to ask why not go along with the call recarding button for stock 4,1,2 umcu1 rom...

Embryo has a recording button in the dialer right? If not MP3 Incall Recorder & Voice is a great and free recorder. Use the search button (in combination with proper english) and you will find what you are looking for. There are at least two threads with the powerbutton mod.

yep it does i wish i could just extrct it.. ill givr those a try..... i did the search and found out but cant figure it ut what to do i know it says to modify the frmawork -res apk..... but it says to go to a path res-value but cant find that on the framework file i fud res but no vslue folder or file... so i really did search it tells you to how to remove and add the screen shot... i dont want to download apps i already have one but i like the power button mod.... thats why am stuck and i ask for heko if some one eho does would do me a favor....

There are already two threads with mods for UCMC1 and at least one thread for RUXUMA7.
The powerbutton mod is available for download, do you understand?
As for the dialer recorder, I have no idea except that there is a guide somewhere.

No maybe you didnt understand or i didnt make myself clear .. i have power button on my phone.... but i dont want airplane mode in there ,instead replace with screenshot... and i cant remember if it has data mode remove that too. But the trhead says to change RES/VALUE/XML. There is no value path. So i was stock but am already downloaded the one recorder from play store. So i guess ill use that... thanks..
Now i want to see if i can fix my battery drain ....

Did you decompile it? This is way over your head, I think. Do some more research.

3-how do i but a clickable link with title? ( for example i want to say "click HEREto download" and i want to replace the red HERE with a clickable one so when some one click on it, it will lead him to a link that i choosed)

You are unable to change any of those, its just the way XDA is set up.

3. When editing your post, highlight the word you want to be directly linked. For example I have this sentence. Hi my names Krish, and I want to highlight the word "names" simply select the word, and click the url button, from there you will be prompted with an input where you have to put in a link. I will show you and alternate method if you're on mobile in a moment.

Add this 2 lines in the end-
fw.max_users=3
fw.show_multiuserui=1
Save And Reboot
Now to enable it(Do I really need to tell this)
-IN Settings there is a User option U can edit or Add User from there

Ya bro i have noticed that.. have no idea why it happened
but i m trying to add a toggle in the quick settings(still not getting any idea what will be the value name. but i consider if its added in the quick panel , the settings icon could turn normal

Everyone stop posting like you are moderators here and know what your talking about... This is a well know build.prop edit that Developers already know about. The op already said he found it in some other phone threads so give it a break... The original author is long lost to XDA and is probably LG or some other phone company...

This is a well know build.prop edit that Developers and I already know about. I already said I found it in some other phone threads so give it a break... The original author is long lost to XDA and is probably LG or some other phone company...
AND I actually found it searching in a ROM files, so plz stop tell this thing again and again

not much use for finger scanner - no finger scanner in grand 2 - message and call block features can be found in dialer and messenger apps
