This is a request for any port developer who would like to port the G3 rom from tmo to the G2 or help me with a simple guide of where to start, i have already try porting it following the few guides of "general" porting from xda. Didn't work. I used a already ported G3 rom as a base. So any help would really be appreciated.
The reason to port something that it has already been done is for our case (tmo) we are missing the WifiCalling from the G3 roms. Now that we have a rooted G3 rom from tmo it would be easy(i think) to get that rom working on the g2(tmo) and get a fully functional WifiCalling. Thanks in advance!
Have you checked here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2788077
They reported a few weeks back that 801 support was coming soon and the OP reports "all variants support"

Take a look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783192. It is stable.
I know of those two roms, am using one of them myselft. What am trying to achieve is getting Wi-Fi Calling which is present on the T-Mobile G3 rom. If we port that rom all the T-Mobile g2 could have a g3 rom with wifi calling.
Edit1: At the moment i get the boot animation for a second then it bootloops....
Edit2: i was using linux but most tools are for windows so i will switch to windows to work faster( i was using vmware) hopefully i get something by myselft soon.

If I had a PC I would assist you with this project.
Have you taken the other ROM, from the links and inserted the WiFi calling app, and associated files (bin,libs,etc...)? That may be an easier path.

Many people have tried that way and it doesn't work, like for aosp and such, there must be something baked in the rom, if i had a list of everything related to wifi calling it would be a lot easier, but i haven't find anything like that.
Any news on this?
Bump on this. I've been really missing WiFi Calling but really can't stand the G2 UI.

It's most likely not going to happen WiFi calling is baked into the ROM, kernel/modem. Unless someone is willing to comb through all that code and reverse engineer T-mobiles implementation of it it can't be ported between roms. There are many people who have tried this in the past and failed and seeing as the development for the T-mobile G2 is a lot smaller than the rest of the variants it's not something to keep your hopes up for. My advice is root used xposed and xtheme engine if you really can't stand the G2 UI
I heard LG may give us 5.0.1 and with the G3 UI. That would be very nice.

No combing necessary to get Wi-Fi calling. Working...just need tmo stock rom as a base andthe tmo g3 rom as the port...i was on the same path as the op and just couldnt get any info on porting stock that worked...i tried to ask optimusrus and cloudyfa for info on porting g3 to g2 and got no reply...i gave up months ago as my dev experience is very noobish and i can make no ground without at least some up to date tuts on porting stock across devices

what about adding the 3g libraries from the stock rom ? This was something they were doing on a Samsung Intercept over at SDX developers to get service working so i was just pushing idea's to try & help out anyway i can for the development of ICS.

The development thread for ICS is here, built ROMs should not be posted anywhere yet since it's very alpha stage and there's no point in generating more questions than finding answers right now.
http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/488824-dev-continuing-triumph-ics-development.html
Proper solutions need to be put into the source code, not just mix & match pre-built frameworks & binaries.
ok will do, I just like to play with this stuff but need guidance on some stuff.
Developers Out there, Please List out the incompatibilities between Optimus 3D Cube and Optimus 3D so as to port the ICS from Optimus 3D Cube. Since Both are having Identical H/W Specs (except for the internal memory), what could go wrong?
errrm should this go to development section? and I think u would want to change the thread name to something else so as to avoid people having heart attacks... seriously first thing that comes to mind when u see the thread is that someone has done it finally...
Lg Prada has identical specs too but if you flash that rom you will brick your phone!
So to port roms from others Lg phone is not the "normal way", is a way ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMENDED!
Just people who are so much expert to keep in life the phone in every situation, can do this experiment without brick the LG O3D
WTF???? BAN!!!!!!!!!!!
Heart Attack!!!
Don't write that question in this thread! Ever!
SU870: CDMA 2G Radio
P920: GSM 2G Radio
If both phones were GSM then it might be worth trying. Being that they have different radios and there is no source code you will not be able to compile a compatible kernel to make the radio work.
A developer could put in 50+ hour weeks trying to get it working and LG would almost certainly release their ICS update before all the bugs were ironed out making all that work useless.
I recommend you chillax with a margarita and just wait it out (or upgrade to a newer phone that already has ICS or JB).
Sorry Brothers, But I can't edit the Title. I just Want to try to port but do not know where to start. I have edited custom roms And it seems if we get the room boot up then everything would run like a charm. I would like your serious Help.
Moderators, please help me change the title or put it up in the appropriate section. I thought of starting a development section for the port.

Source code is available for GB here. Yes, the SU760 is GSM and at first glance appears to have the same radio chipset, albeit difference antennas. That would make porting ROMs between the two phones very easy.
Just wondering, I'm not totally familar with kdz files, but could we not extract the files out of the kdz and possibly remove the information about the radio ie remove the cdma radio stuff and just have the actual ics system left and see if that would be flashable/workable? Or if it would be easier get someone with the ics firmware rooted and back it up with CWM and just give it a flash and see if that might give it a go with the gsm radio vs cdma radio? I know it's a long shot but I would try the CWM backup on my O3D if someone posted the files for it. My O3D is just laying around as a backup phone so I'm a go for some testing/tinkering.
Would be better to know the basics to port ICS of SU760 to P920...
Would be very appreciated if an expert of this forum could explain what steps are required in order to make this ICS functional..
We all know theorycally is possible, but in concrete, what is the problem?

Justed a SU760 GB Kernel on a P920 and it boots so ICS Kernel should boot on P920 the Issue is the Bootloader stuff maybe the lock is not what we think it is. it could be the bootloader lock is in fact to prevent P920 from booting ICS
There is something in kernel config that is not compatibile with old bootloader. We will have to wait source to drop to remove that and compile it. If we could get kernel log to work on ICS to see what is the problem.

Q&A for [5.0.2][D800]Cyanogenmod 12[Semi-Nightlies]
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [5.0.2][D800]Cyanogenmod 12[Semi-Nightlies]. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Really excited to find a CM12 build for D800.
Installed yesterday...so far so good thanks for the work!
At last!! Some lollipop love for the G2, thank you very much. The rom is smooth and soo sweet. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that the computer did not recognize the phone when connected throught usb for multimedia transfer. I tried to activate the connection in the lollipop settings. I have android drivers, and lg drivers already installed but no luck... any ideas or solution ?
Wi-Fi Calling
Can you add wi-fi calling to this rom for the D800?

Good rom. but i lost 12% of battery the last night in repose...
Thank you
OP Thank you for your development of this app for the community.
I recently bought an LG G2 D800(ATT). I would like to know if this would work for my phone. Because I notice the description says "Cyanogenmod 12 packages for the D801 (T-Mobile) with a compatible lollipop D800 Kernel". Does that mean its only for D801 while using a d800 kernel? Sorry, I am really new to android.

This just means he's porting the existing D801 ROM to be compatible with your D800; it will work on your AT&T D800.
My Q:
I can't seem to make LTE work on this rom, everything else is working fine. In mobile network settings, "Preferred network type" won't change to LTE. The dropdown options are LTE, 3G, and 2G, but selecting LTE leaves the dropdown set to either 2G or 3G... Has anyone else had similar issues/AT&T LTE issues?
LTE even has "Recommended" in parentheses. Weird.
I don't know what caused the problem, but I think the dev should have a look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g2/help/black-lines-screen-t3048870
Thank you.
I would like to thank you for your efforts to make this available!
What's the difference between the paranoid kernel and the previous one?
no knock on
Same issue for me. The knock on feature is missing in the latest update.
Problems with MMS
Is anyone else having issues with MMS on the 3/9/15 build. I cannot get MMS to work. Tried clean flashing the previous build, tried reflashing the latest build, switched around APN settings....but nothing has worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Update: I was able to get MMS working again after reflashing the 3/9/15 build again. All I need is the knock feature back!
My phone will reboot every 5 to 10 minutes while using any mapping service and some apps. Thanks in advance for helping me.
Is anybody aware of the status of RAW image support for the D800 on LP? I'm using this latest ROM and love it. Is it an issue of LG providing drivers in the LP development or is there another issue? Thanks.

Hey guys I've had my g3 rooted for a couple months now and I have yet to find a really good ROM to use cm12 was to buggy and grew tired of nightlies. Liquidsmooth was really good only issue I had was Skype and hangouts. I'm on candy5 latest build now and I'm getting a lot of glitches, force closes, etc. I've clean installed the last 2 roms and experience problems. If Liquidsmooth didn't have that Skype issue I would probably stuck to it. Any ROM suggestions?

For the most part, all the AOSP Roms like the ones you received will have similar bugs until they are ironed out over time. The least buggy Roms are those based of the lg ROM. Right now there are only 2 stock lg lollipop Roms. Both of them are very stable however they're basically just rooted versions of the stock lollipop ROM.

It's because the development took and still takes lots of work. The devs had a lot of work just to root Lollipop, then to flash twrp. But I also do think that between all roms available (including KK roms and LP roms) we don't have as many as other devices from the same gen have. Heck, I had my Galaxy S3 and there were ports for everything. Can't complain though, between the stock ones and illusion (talking my preferences), I feel complete.

For KitKat, there's plenty of ROMs available, partially due to the fact that porting D855 ROMs was cake (swap out kernel and modules, and you're golden). That's why there weren't too many D850-specific ROMs.
On LP, there's a new handshake process between ROM and kernel, so we can't do that...yet. I feel like "development" on ROMs as a result is going to be hindered, since there's hope that the process will get cracked, then we can just port straight from D855 with little effort. Otherwise, if we have to mess about with the D85020f base, it'll take much more time.

@Spz0 has been talking about this as of late in his OA855-5 ROM thread, as he is readying to move the ROM to Lollipop.
The defacto LG standard ROM of many, CloudyG3 by @Cloudyfa, also will inevitably jump on this bandwagon, but he hasn't been spotted in a while. He's probably just busy or something.
Not sure why this thread even exists.. this subject has been discussed ad nauseam in the Lounge.
@Nexus.S the question you've asked is one that will never offer ONE end all solid answer. It is truly a case of "to each his own". You need to continue doing what you were doing and try obe that fits all of your needs.
There are literally hundreds of users that have commented on every rom available for this device. Asking there will get you quicker answers, rather then waiting for people to find your thread and post something witty.
Threads of this type end up being nothing more then, OT threads.

I can also vouch for the first one. In fact, I was far less aggressive with debloating and have skipped xposed for now... and it's more stable, better battery life and (IMO) a better UI.

we also have @GameTheory. helping us as well as others i cant think of at the moment (its way too early, hopefully they will chime in)...but yeah i would definitely love to see more roms for this phone too. i do like the stock lg rom though, and combined with xposed/some buildprop tweaks ive made, im very happy with my phone in its current state that i dont mind patiently waiting for some roms to show up :good:

I think it is possible to extract KDZ files using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600575 and then repack them for flashing via custom recovery
Furthermore, you can download your current KDZ file (if available) from this link
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=YOUR_IMEI_HERE
You need to replace YOUR_IMEI_HERE with your own IMEI, visible on the box, behind the battery or by typing *#06# in your phone dialer
Okay cool i wished i knew how to build roms but as long as this awesome phone dont be left for dead im happy with that. Would be great to see more than just cyanogenmod roms though
