Hello all. I have came here in the quest in to seek out anyone that is willing to help me. As I wish to find out how to install a custom rom.(as I look everywhere and everyone is doing it(but I would like to stick to standard Samsung Galaxy Note 3 style as possible) I for some reason am unable to find the meaning for several words. I would like some assistance in trying to find out what these words mean. Most of the words that I do not know what they mean are: Nandroid, Dedoxed/Odexed, Aroma.
I did a little bit of looking around on Google Play store and found some interesting lock screens from X-Andev. The 2 that I have downloaded and played around with are. Galaxy Locker & LG Optimus Lockscreen. I was wondering/hoping that someone could point me to the place that I could find a rom or find a way to import these unlock styles into my Note 3's native settings. (in a custom rom of course)
Thank you for taking time out of your busy day's in reading this and helping me.

Hey, I am extremely tech un-savvy. I have tried to create a custom font for my Galaxy S (T-Mobile: Vibrant) phone. I got as far as editing the font in Font Creator (to get the signed version, or whatever.)
From there I have been unable to make it into a flip font - despite trying to follow all related instructions. My phone is not rooted, I will not root it. For my purposes, the risk of bricking does not match the potential benefits gained.
So, my real question comes in as: Does anyone know if someone has made a Fraktur flip font, or if anyone could possibly make one for me.
Thanks for any help, assistance, or answers offered. Sorry if this is an innappropriate question/set of questions for this forum, or whatever.
Thanks again!
(I'd post the wikipedia page about Fraktur... but I can't until 8 posts. Sorry. The good news is that if you are unfamiliar with Fraktur... this is the interwebz, so it's easily researched - Sorry!)

Hi Erlkönig
Well, do understand your problem, see the part I quoted. For a long time already I have been searching for a way to include f.ex. the Leipzig Fraktur in an ePub so I can use it on my eBook-reader. Now the use of flipfonts for my mobile is added for my search.
Maybe with joint effort we at last can get it working?
Galaxy Note (and of course the Medion eBook reader, localized firmware)
I've been waiting for an idea and I think I finally have one. I am going to attempt to make a Android App using Web Scraping that will allow me to navigate and use the forums on Roblox (.com if you really want to look it up) better than I can now. Not only are the forums pretty bad in general but they are even worse on my Android Device (Samsung Galaxy Player). Can anyone give me an pointers or advice? I'm not sure what libraries I should use... This is my first big attempt at coding
Oh, Obviously I would want to give it a feature to reply to posts but I'm not sure how login for that type of thing would work...
Hello Nick64. If I were you, I will focus on builidng an app for getting the Roblox Hair Codes and Roblox Outfits IDs automatically. I think that this can be easily done using some program languages. I am saying this since most of the Roblox forums are not working anymore while on the other side, the players are still searching for these kind of codes. Just saying.
Edit: I just saw that you have posted this a long time ago. Anyway, someone might get an idea from my reply.
Hey there,
(sry for my bad english at first, not my mother tongue )
As u can see im new to xda, but i heart this is like THE site for android stuff, so i wanted to check it out.
Enough trashtalk, now my actual question:
I got me a Note II 1 month ago and wanted to customize it (but not root) via several launcher etc. but now i realize i suck and have no idea about this stuff. I've checked out several pages such as mycolorscreen.com but i can't help making the same stuff on my device, since im a noob i have to ask here. I of course tried out UCCW and minimalistic text but i simply dont understant how to correctly use them.
In fact I want a cooler Homescreen to feel cool and stuff, but im just to bad at this.
I also searched for tutorials on google/xda/other sites but i didnt find any (or im just too bad to google LOL), so my question is:
Is there any tutorial for newbs how to do this launcher/homescreen stuff? Or maybe for programs like UCCW or minimalistic text?
please don't hate me , i know i suck
btw the xda noob video is so epic, had to laugh for like 10minutes hahaahah
Hey guys!
I just ordered the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (P5100) 10.1" today via Flipkart (Indian Online Mega-Store) and it is expected to arrive in a few days. I'm really excited that it's going to be my first tablet, but mostly because it'll be the first Android device I own. I've been living with my Nokia N8-00 (Symbian Belle) for about 2 years now and I finally have a replacement.
Along with the excitement, I had a lot of questions about the device. I'll just list them below, so it'll be easier for you guys to answer them
1. Have I made the right choice?
The first thing I thought to myself after I pressed the 'Buy Now' button. I bought it mostly for watching movies and the TV shows that I regularly download from the internet. Some rigorous browsing, downloading of music, and mostly showing off my photos to other people (I'm a photographer and having a portfolio on-hand is a good idea). I haven't demoed the device before, but my friends have all said theirs works wonderfully (granted, they own the 7" version).
2. What is rooting? Do I need to root my device?
My friends keep talking about this rooting thing. I'm a new android user, so I lack the basic knowledge of these terminologies. Will I need to root my tablet? Is it safe to do so? What will I benefit from this procedure?
3. What are the best apps I can download?
I want to know what are the best apps I can install on my device for my particular needs (mentioned above). I also wanted to know how I can customize my device to the fullest extent. When I had an iPod Touch, I jailbroke it and installed WinterBoard to use custom themes and icons of my own choice. What is the procedure to replicate the same on an Android device?
4. Is Android App Development easy?
What language is it generally coded in? I have a basic understanding of HTML/CSS & PHP, a firm grasp on C# and .NET (from Windows 8 Development). I'd like to try my luck in the Android App genre, how many have tried the same and do you feel it is easy for a beginner/intermediate?
I'd really love it if you guys could help me out starting with this new journey of Android! Thank you all!
you made the right choice.
Rooting is jailbreak. You don;t need it unless you want to install certain custom mods or apps.
Development is as easy as any platform if you have done it before, its the same once you set up the environment. Search Google and you will find a Google tutorial on getting started.
Apps:
Evernote
Sketch Book Pro if you like doodling
Photoshop Touch
Tunein Radio
Hello XDA Community!
I am working on a small nonprofit project to bring educational tablers to rural areas of Thailand.
I would like to ask you guys to help me out with the task. There are 100 chinese tablets donated.
I am looking for a way to upload multiple educational apps at once and customize the tablet look and feel, so far I have found solution to upload multiple APKs with mass-apk-installer
For customization I have found Themer, which unfortunately is not compatibile with the tablet.
Then I came across Desktop VisualizeR this one looks promising, but customizing manually 100 tablets will be ages of manual work.
I have also posted here and received some suggestions, but none of theme were working. I will try to be more specific with the goal I am trying to achieve.
At the end I will have lets say 20 APKs with educational games. I would like to change the home screen so every one has different background and customized big icons,
preferably 4x bigger than original size. The 'icons' should have custom descriptions. At the end I would like to fully customize one tablet and have some kind of solution to easily port all settings and customizations to rest 99 tablets.
I would kindly request specific answer to my problem, not links to general tutorials. Please help me out! The kids will grately appreciate your help.
Thats easy! :silly: Just take one tablet and customize it the way you want the others.
Next, install a custom recovery like twrp or clockworkmod, dont worry you dont have to root the tablets!
Create an backup using this recovery and copy this backup to all tablets and restore them.
Finished!
If you have questions about the custom recovery, just ask me!
