I installed this rom on my phone:
[ROM] 4.4.2 GPE, philz recovery, fixed logo, easy for noobs and no noobs
I have failed to read a warning not to update rom via OTA. I updated via OTA to 4.4.4. As a result, I lost the recovery.
How do I regain the recovery?
I tried flashing the stock recovery and then CWM over it and it didn't help.
Please help.

you need the stock recovery for installing OTAs,
flash the stock recovery and install the OTA (you dont need to relock your bootloader)
after installing the OTA you can flash your custom recovery back again.
It could be that you will loose your root after installing the OTA so you have to root your phone again.
I dont have any experience with root-keeper etc. so I cant tell you anything about it.
you will find the stock recovery for the One S C2 here:

Hi... im currently running
CROMi-X v5.2.2, which is based on rom 10.6.1.27.5 with twrp 2.5.0.0 and my bootloader says is the one that came with us10.6.1.15.3-20130416...
To install omni kitkat, im been asked to have the latest bootloader, to avoid screwing up im planning on insalling the latest stock from asus...
However, each time i install a stock through twrp or cwr, the new image not only updates the bootloader and deletes all my data, but rewrites my recovery, for which then i have too reupload using fastboot to upload the recovery...
Is there any way to make sure i dont loose the recovery after flashing a stock firmware... or a way to flash the recovery from the recovery before rebooting after flashing the stock?
Thanks everyone!

Flashing the stock ROM reverts the tablet back to stock, so the recovery must go. Luckily, the bootloader you are on is compatible with the KitKat recovery (10.6.1.15.3) so you shouldnt have to flash the stock ROM at all. If you were on 10.6.1.8, you would have had to upgrade.

I have a rooted Moto G phone. It is android 4.3 , I cant update it to 4.4.2 Kitkat for some reason.
I saved Kitkat to the SD Card, loaded into Recovery mode on the MOTO, then tried to install Android 4.4.2 from the .zip file
saved on the SD card in my phone.
I cant get this to work and i tried to install CARBON ROM the same way with out any results.. it says ERROR and fails to install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ALSO does android need to be updated to 4.4.2 to install CARBON ROM?
Thanks
I don't know but maybe can help...
I could update successfully to last minor 176.44.1 update only after flashing stock recovery.img from my exact stock ROM.
after rooting process on KitKat motoG my recovery was modified, restoring the stock one worked for me. I just updated ota normally in WiFi without problems.
after that I flashed cwm recovery.
I restored to stock recovery and removed root. After that applied KitKat OTA, then flashed custom recovery and re-rooted.
Sent from my Moto G using Tapatalk
this involve wiping of all data and a factory reset, so first try just restoring the stock recovery.
If not working make a good backup first.
If the phone is rooted, OTA updates do not work afaik...

Flashing a ROM overwrites system partition completely. You could have android version 1 running and still just flash another ROM
Hello to everyone,
I have a Moto G of a friend. He would to update to last OTA update but he already did root & custom recovery (cwm recovery)..
The OTA update fails with the custom recovery as we expected... so we tried to flash stock recovery, but also this make the update fails...
So my question is if and where we can find a zip of the OTA update flashable with CWM or TWRP recovery...
Hoping you can help us
Regards
Davide
Flash stock fw first then apply OTA.
is there a way without losing everything?
Of course it is,just dont enter last 2 commands(wipe cache and data) and you are good.

Use AutoRec. It will downgrade your bootloader to be able to flash recovery.
